Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2009

Kind of addicted to the Wii deal... so I went back out cause I was certain that the titles I wanted would be gone tomorrow... plus I'll have my 3yo in tow tomorrow, which doesn't ever allow for time to contemplate. I also found some good deals on clearance Playstation 3 games and PSP games, which are what my nephews play with, so I'm told. Up Playstation 3 game marked down from $39.99 to $9.98 X-Men Wolverines PSP game marked down from $39.99 to $9.98 Used the $10 off 2 coupon, so got them each for $4.98... not bad for a $40 game. NBA Live 09 PSP game marked down from $39.99 to $19.98 NHL 09 Playstation 3 game marked down from $29.99 to $14.98 Also used the $10 off 2 coupon, so paid about $17.50 for each of them I also did 6 more Wii games and paid $94.95 for what would have cost me $185. Given the titles I'm selecting, it's averaging out to about 1/2 price on all my Wii games. I've picked out a few of the $50 ones, but if you bought all $14.99 games, you could get 6 games for about $4.99 each. They are getting hard to find though! -

YES! And it's best to buy 6 games and not 4... because of this week's buy 2, get 1 free sale. No beeps at all on the $10 coupons and they don't attach... just appear on the bottom of the receipt. -

The kiosks are usually up by customer service... where you would print off a baby or wedding registry. You can get out to the Target.com website and then find the toy coups from there I presume, anyway. I haven't tried it. -

You can find the Toy Coupons here, and this site allows you to just pick and choose which ones you want to print. http://www.organicgrocerydeals.com/forums/view.php?pg=coupon_generator When I tried to print the Wii coupon from the Target website this morning, it only allowed me to print 2 on each computer. So, just to be safe, I went out to the above link and saved sheets of 4 to a page of the coupons that I think I will want in the weeks ahead. It just seems to me that if Target wants to limit the number of coupons they will let you print on their website, they may not like that another coupon site is allowing unlimited numbers of these coupons to be printed. I just don't want to take a chance that suddenly they will become hard to find. Seems silly to limit them when there are books available everywhere, and I would think that you could even print them at the store kiosk, but for whatever reason, I wasn't able to print more than 2 per computer this morning. -

Oh that's right. That's not how it is here, but I forgot that some states do that even if you have your receipt... -

Yup, you can. Many don't like to return food products because they don't get put back out on the floor... I guess they get thrown out. Stores can't sell returned food. Unless there is something really wrong with food I've purchased, I don't like to return food products. But, you are certainly within your rights to do that without any problems. -

Forgot to mention, Halloween was 75% off... unbeknownst to me, the candy wasn't part of that deal so I took a few bags of Hersheys up there, and I didn't understand why they weren't ringing right. Fortunately I got one of my favorite cashiers who told me that she'd take another 50% off the candy, so I got my giant bags of Hersheys snack size chocolate bars for $1.19 each (regular $4.99). Then I gave her my buy 3 bags, get one free coupon and when she scanned it, the register took off $2.49. We both just looked at each other and she just shrugged and said, "oh well!" (This was at the Mission Greatland store.) Found several Little Pet Shop Halloween tubes too for $1.74. There were about 4 or 5 in the toy aisle and a few scattered in the Halloween aisle! I have sort of stopped looking in the toy aisles for Holiday stuff cause I think so many people are on to that trick (or maybe the stores are just better about collecting them). Anyway, cute Little Pet Shops and one of the tubes doesn't really look Halloweenish at all. Wasn't until I stopped at a second store that I figured out some stores are delaying the candy clearance cause this store had all the candy signed at 50% off, but everything else signed at 75% off. Well, I'm set with my Hershey bars, which is all I like (dipped in peanut butter while hiding in the pantry from my kids... what's that called "clandesDine" when you secretly dine while your kids aren't looking!) -

The Wii deal is WONDERFUL!! Printed off 3 of the $10/2 coupons. As someone mentioned here (I think) they group with 3 highest priced and 3 lowest priced. Here's how it went down for me: Wii Sports Resort (comes with remote) $49.99 Will Animal Crossing $49.99 Wii Littlest Pet Shop $39.90 Wii Ski and Snowboard (this was actually clearanced at 50% off-- reg $39.99 for $19.98) Wii Pirated Vs Ninjas Dodgeball (also clearanced at 30% off-- reg. $29.99 for $20.98) Wii Carnival Games $29.99 So, my free games were the Pet Shop game at $39.90 from first group; and the Ski and Snowboard game $19.98 from the second group. I paid $150.95 and then got $30 off in coupons... so $120.95 for games that all told regular price would have cost me $239.85. Plus, I just received a catalog mailer from Target that earned me a $10 giftcard if I spent $100, so that was another $10 perk. Nice way to hammer out a few Christmas gifts! -

THANKS for your info! So, just so I have it straight... if I buy 3 Wii games that cost $49.99 each and 3 games that cost $14.99 each, I will get ONE of the $49.99 games FREE and ONE of the $14.99 games FREE?? Does that sound like what you were saying? I'm anxious to try this... -

In our area, it doesn't matter when you return it, you get back what you paid for it as long as you have your receipt. You can buy something full price; change your mind, and it doesn't matter if it is currently selling at 90% off... as long as you have your receipt, you can return it and get back the full price you paid. Some have said it's based on state laws, but I have no idea how that works. I've never been told that I couldn't have my full refund in the Kansas and Missouri stores that I frequent. (Obviously if you do a return without a receipt, you'll only be refunded the current selling price of the item no matter what you paid for it unless they can do a receipt look up.) -
$10 off Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure on blu ray

Got the Tinkerbell DVD (just the regular one) at Target this morning. Paid $15.99 and used the coupon from the link at the top of this thread. It went through beeplessly. Then, price matched from the Nebraska Furniture Mart ad on my way out. They had it on sale for $13.99. So, the DVD ended up being $3.99. YMMV on this deal -

There are 2 different types of handhelds they use though and unless they are hooked into a little machine that spits out an orange ticket, it's hard to say for sure what the price came up as at that point of the morning. Sometimes there are folks working in the aisle who may appear to be part of the markdown team, and even are using handhelds, but unless the sticker machine is with them, they are most likely doing something else besides marking down. If she had a little machine hooked up to her handheld and she scanned the tv, an orange ticket would have automatically popped out... I may be wrong, but I don't think they even have control of the orange stickers coming out. Those come out automatically if the price goes lower. -

I know there are a lot of different opinions about employees shopping while on duty, etc.... but I just think that no matter what Target's official policy is about it, a good manager would realize that it reflects poorly on the store when customers have to 'compete' with the store's employees to shop when it's obvious that the employees are on duty... (nametags on/red shirts on, etc.) I'm all for employees getting in on the good deals, but no matter if it's a really good clearance item or just general shopping, an employee should really be expected to do their shopping while on break... Just my opinion. -

The Littliest Pet Shop Wii game was shelf priced at the front of the store for $20.98 (30% off). However, there were several of them stacked up with a bunch of other Wii games on a display for $14.99 (right up by the registers). EVERY other Wii game on the display is individually shelf tagged at $14.99 except the Pet Shop one, which has a shelf sticker of $20.98. So, I grabbed it and thought I might try to talk my way into a lower price... BUT, I didn't have to. It rang up as $14.99. Anyway, I have a 6 yo daughter so I thought I might try it out for Christmas. 1/2 price isn't too bad, I guess. It seems to have gotten pretty good reviews on Amazon... Both she and my 4 yo love Pet Shops (although the youngest is really a bit too young for Wii). http://www.amazon.com/Littlest-Pet-Shop-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B0019R4VCG -

Oak Park. They still had quite a lot left, especially the iron looking butterfly design, little grapevine wreath balls, iron birdhouse design and other "iron" designs. There were also several of the 25' coiled hoses when I left. -

Found some luck in the garden hose department today... two 100' garden hoses regularly $30 down to $7.48; three 50' coiled hoses regularly $20 down to $4.98; one 25' coiled hose regularly $15 down to $3.74. Also lots of very neat deco lights for our screened in porch, also marked down from $15 to $3.74. BTW, the Kansas City area started the 5% off reward program (off of everything on your ticket, every time you shop and use your Target Visa.) It started on Sunday, I believe the cashier told me. Anyway, I had my final "points earned" 10% off certificate and it expired today (the OLD program). I wasn't sure if it would work since they implemented the new program, but it did, so I shopped today and got an additional 15% off everything. Kind of nice for my garden hose bonanza! -

I know this may not mean much to anyone, but if someone is really vacillating about whether to buy the digital cameras/videos, etc. that are so cheap... here is my two cents.... I have gotten those low pixel cameras before for my daughter(s), who was about 6-7 at the time. They are kind of a big PITA and here is why... When you give cameras to kids that age, they want to take pictures of EVERYTHING... and I mean everything. In no time, they will come to you with a full card and wonder, "what next, mom?" Can we print the pictures now? So, I found myself saying, well I'm not sure that having 12 pictures of the fish tank; 8 pictures of your baby doll; 15 pictures of the cats, 3 pictures of the mailbox, etc... is worth a trip/cost to have them printed off. (Especially when you have a sorta low pixel camera and the prints don't turn out all that great.) So, I at least try to make them wait until there is a cheap sale on prints, but by then... nobody cares anymore. Kids want instant... "now, mom, now!! So, maybe just have them put them up on the computer screen to view. That's great too. And if you can convince them that is enough... GREAT. My girls really wanted to HAVE the pictures in their hands to frame/put in their room/take to school, etc.. Maybe you can just print them on the printer, mom?? Sure, I can do that... again though kind of a wasted cost in ink considering what 6, 7, 8 year olds want to take pictures of. (And again on a pretty low pixel camera.) Anyway, I am in no way trying to party poop on anyone's great gift idea. I'm just saying that I have found nice quality digital cameras 5 or 6 mp cameras for pretty cheap (at Target). They don't have Hannah or Diego on them. They are just normal digital cameras. But at least, I can feel a bit better about them using a good quality camera and when I do splurge for pictures of the sidewalk, at least they are good quality! LOL!! (Honestly though, my daughter is almost 9 and is really only now ready to have control of a camera after many conversations about how to take pictures and the costs involved, etc.) I realize more than anyone (after 3 kiddos) that most toys are really just for some fleeting fun, and what really makes these cameras any different? I mean they ARE cheap enough and for that money, kids can just pretend or do whatever and you won't be out too much. I'm just saying that most of those low mega pixel, character looking cameras have ended up at the bottom of the toy box after so much pestering finally went unanswered. I mean THE KIDS can take the pictures, but ultimately, it will probably be a parent who has to see the picture through to whatever happens next... whether it is put up on the computer, put into a digital picture frame or made into a print. Just my two cents. I'm sure that there are moms out there with kiddos who have taken award winning photos and unlike my girls, don't find it all that much fun to take pictures of potted plants, their sister's feet, or ME first thing in the morning!! Again, this is really just my own opinion. After my experiences with these types of cameras, quite honestly... I would NOT like to see one given to my younger daughters (4 and 6) as a Christmas gift. It would really be more of a parental hassle than anything. -

Had to run in quick for printer ink today, and while I was checking out, there were lots of informational brochures at the registers about the new RedCard discount that they are switching to (5% off all Target redcard purchases everyday instead of an accumulated points system and monthly 10% certificate). Anyway, Kansas City IS a test area for this program. The cashier, who was also a trainer, told me Target is committed to the new rewards program through 2010 for this area. I don't know if that means that they won't roll it out anywhere else until the trial is done here, but I would assume as much. -

What a potentially embarrassing situation... even if it is a good friend. It made me nervous enough to go and check the few that I have to give as Christmas gifts. Mine are all good. Just a tip if you want to check your box out to make sure the pen is in there.... The pen is packaged in a way so that if you carefully unstick the tape on the side of the box that lists all the computer requirements, and just open the box, you won't even have to remove the cardboard "innards" to see the pen. You can just peak inside. Everything is wrapped in the cardboard pretty tight, so if you do have to pull the whole thing out, it isn't a real big deal. It just went a little quicker for me when I discovered that all my boxes were packed the same way. The tape sticks back very securely and looks untouched. (I suppose that is how the loosers who rip them off in the first place get by with it!!) Actually, once you are sure that one box has the pen, you can almost judge by the weight of the box in your hand as to whether the pen is in there or not. Of course I've also heard crazy stories on this forum of people finding rocks and such wrapped up in lego boxes, so I guess ya never know. I have never ever opened something from a store to find that it's been replaced with something else. Not sure what I would do (besides be screaming mad)!! -

The kids bedding went 75% off at most places around here last week. I got Pet Shop sheets/throws and a comforter. I also saw Wall E stuff as well... plus the usual glut of High School Musical and Hannah "stuff" that is STILL on the end caps and doesn't seem to move even at 75% off! LOL -
