  1. Besides Keens, my hubby has tried Eccos (on the expensive side), Rockports (wasn't happy with the way they held up) Doc Martens (had to get new ones every 6 mos or his feet hurt) Michelins (comfy but more of an industrial look) and Merrills (he didn't like them for longer days). For his long days and his feet, the Keens have held up the best. The reason he has so many pairs is that they have held up and do not hurt his feet after a few mos. I think of all he has tried, he was most disappointed in Eccos because they were a bit over 200 and he still had issues after 6 mos. The shoe store we bought them from said they would give him a new pair if he wasn't happy for an entire year so he did go back and got a new pair. Same thing tho...after 6 mos, they weren't as comfy.
  2. Keen. Hubby has these, is on his feet a lot and he loves his Keens...he now has like 5 pairs! http://www.zappos.com/images/724/7241227/4974-260222-d.jpg I always check out zappos...great deals, free shipping, free returns and quick too! Just like having a shoe store in your house.
  3. If you go to the very first post, GatorPam spent a great deal of time listing how things are clearanced at Target. It helps a great deal in understanding the basics. Hope that helps!
  4. Someone correct me if I am missing something...but typically, the markdown should be by the UPC or whatever code is used...and it is usually decided by corporate etc and comes "down" to the stores...so even if not scanned by mark down, it would still be cheaper if in the system. From what I understood, the scanning helps the team put the tags on, it isn't marking things down, it is verifying the item is the marked down one then a new red tag can be made and tagged. I have found things marked 50% off but have gone 75% but not tagged...but have gotten the 75% off. In other words, if you hide something and the code on it goes down an addl % off, your item will also. However...if you wait too long and it goes salvage, the number will no longer be in system and thus you will have to rely on a cashier that will help you out. Or...an item could appear to be "gone" from the system once it hits 30% off so the item is removed from system and so if you hid something and this happens, the number would not longer scan any lower because it "appears" to be gone and was removed from system.
  5. Woo Hoo!! You go! My kids are past the toy stage but a lady in the checkout lane had one cart loaded expertly with tons of toys. Not sure if it was for a daycare or what cuz there was more than one of a lot of the toys.
  6. I miss my kids being able to wear Gap Kids! The markdowns have always been simply amazing!
  7. A lot of times contractors work with a specific place that gives them a sort of kick back on the price. Your good deal might not be as good of a deal as a contractor can get. And yes, places like Lowes and Home Depot will typically match prices and have the lowest.
  8. Shampoos, deodorants, etc are marked down when a product is changed...whether it is packaging or product change. It used to be done by a lot of companies in January but that has recently changed also. The most recent was just done by a few companies which is why you saw quite a few.
  9. We bought the Wii for my dd for her 13th. Just the Wii. A month or so later, ds 15 and his sis, dd13 gathered their money and bought Wii play. Extra controller and games and they are happy. At some point my dd would love Mario Party 8. She loves those sorts of games...
  10. Yep and the Downy big bottle with a sample on the side is a bit over a buck cheaper in the bulk section....
  11. I was able to get the Rachel Ray Cookware set for 44.98, 75% off. There were still additional skillets available, but thought the set was good enough. Saving it for my kids when they leave home.
  12. I find my deals early..but I have to be careful to not be too early too. One day I picked up something and wandered a bit. When I checked out it had been marked down 75%. Went back and got another! LOL It really depends....wish there was a hard and fast rule!
  13. Just so you know...most won't. Mine has numerous signs up about how they will NOT sell the displays. The signs are corporate made so am assuming that corporate policy is no selling displays but as always, it is the manager that makes the final decisions. Congrats on the great find!
  14. Unless you decide to join right there when you pay, yes there is an upcharge...10% last time I heard. It does say it on the pass in very small letters.
  15. Call the 1-800 number on the package...bet if you don't get an answer you get coupons!!
  16. A couple of oddities I found at my local Target... They have some Pantene fixatives on sale 2/$8, reg price $3.99 each. Then in the dollar spot they have Marshmallows. Back in the summer area to make s'mores they have marshmallows for .94 .
  17. For the first time in months, I skipped a week at Target and went back today. Seemed like I had been gone FOREVER! I found a beaded pillow marked down from 24.xx to 3.xx. Of course I had promised dh no more purchases that aren't necessities...but a markdown from 24 to 3? Tis a necessity right?
  18. Electronics at my store was being redone. Tons of stuff in carts so may have to go back tomorrow to see what is left clearanced. They were moving tv's and other big stuff around. I did not see any Zune stuff clearanced at mine. Will check again when I head back. I did find some Choxie 50% off.
  19. Finally got there today and they had some great furniture pieces, plus pillows and smaller items (vases, etc) for the 75%. I ended up with a screen and a small vase type thing. The vase was 62 cents, down from $10.
  20. It is actually coming out of everybody's pocket including the cashiers. If Target loses money, prices go up in some manner and anyone who shops at Target pays more.
  21. If I understand correctly, a monitor does not have a tv tuner in it. In other words, you would need cable, directtv or whatever, you could not get broadcast channels that are in your area without something else. You know how in olden days you could hook up rabbit ears and watch some local channels? Well you could not do that with a monitor.
  22. Your link doesn't work and it sounds like nothing is founded. I have used pro health toothpaste and the rinse since they came out and find it hard to believe that if it really stained teeth brown, you wouldn't hear about it all over. One of the links I read, even misspelled the name of the company that makes Crest. Sounds like a typical internet gone wild story.
  23. Toys R Us has a note on the door at our local one that states they will have them on 4/1.
  24. Unless you lived in an area with a lot of Bestmark shops, or any sort of shops, you will not 'make' money. I have worked for Bestmark for about 5 years and have gotten things at a wonderful price, have gotten almost free meals but have never looked at it as a make extra money deal. I am sure in some areas you can make more or less. It really depends on where you live.
