Sort of like chicken and the egg.... If one doesn't buy knock offs, others would not make knock offs.

I have only owned 1 D&B and I got it online clearanced. I like it cuz it is unique but it is small and I am in my large bag phase.

Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2007
scrabbler replied to 1angelnhvn's topic in Offline Hot Deals
Wrong time of the year currently. Otherwise, take a look at the very first post of this thread and it helps give you a guideline. Then just be patient. Christmas clearance will be soon enough and then other great stuff starts happening. Some Targets do NOT have good clearance. Visiting different ones help you get a handle on good ones and not so good ones. -
I am so aggrevated with Target

Wow...they should have just returned the 19.99 dvd and had you purchase the 14.99 dvd. Really bad cashier that re-rang it all. -
Either let him do it or write their names. I have never called my inlaws Mom or Dad and this year we have been married 23 years. I do not get them a Mom and Dad card tho...I just get a nice card and when I address the outside, I write their names.

Yep we do a gradual Christmas present opening in our house. I hate watching people open gifts so fast that you don't even know what you opened, who gave it to you and what it exactly was. I know there are many ways to combat it but I decided that there is nothing better than getting a gift and sitting down and figuring it out. For that very reason, we open them gradually. There isn't a particular rhyme or reason...it depends on how busy the season is for us...but we open one I pick for them at some random time before Christmas Day...always one on Christmas Eve...there is always one left on Christmas Day... sometimes the first day of vacation they open one if we are just all home relaxing. Most of the times they get a video game or a dvd and we can have a nice afternoon spending it all together playing or watching. It ends up being a nice family moment instead of a rush and such great anticipation that we don't enjoy the little moments. It works for us.

Great idea...I sort of think of handbags as personal choices. Unless I specifically asked for one, I wouldn't want one for a gift.

Heated blankets or Electric Fireplace?
scrabbler replied to katiesmommy01's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Is your attic or upper crawlspace insulated? Can you tell where cold air is coming in? You may need to do some caulking...although it may be too cold this year already.... I use a little plug in fireplace. I just warm up the bedroom before I go to bed and then turn it off. -
I should have added too...I think the Hottest purse of the year is the one you cannot get. Here is a link for hot bags: http://www.bagsnob.com/2007/02/anya_hindmarch_fall_2007.html Another article of the hot bags...most over $2000: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21116138/ And this site that tells you where you can get them and how much they run: http://stylebakery.com/fashionindexfall/handbags.html

Any designer bag is hot. Coach, Dooney and Bourke, Juicy, just google designer bags. Dooney can be found for under 200, Coach is generally over 200, Juicy is over that I think and some of the hot hot designer bags are in the 400, 500, 1000 range. I personally buy bags from a local rep at www.beijobags.com They are generally under $100 and the colors are cool, the designs are nice and versatile and I like the price and how they stand up.

I think "brand" depends on how much you want to spend. But as a general rule, the metallics are said to bet hot this year.

Target corp has secret shoppers also. They may just look at you twice, wondering if that is what you are doing. As long as you are shopping, just enjoy. I have noticed in my perusing, that I see many of the same people on certain days...so it isn't just you that is a regular...there are a lot of us...and I think the employees are pretty darn used to it... -
Snap On Tool guys are pretty independent sales people. They may, MAY be able to get you some sort of deal. And I believe they stand behind their tools completely also.

You can also check into the Little Tyke car beds...the mattress can be placed in it alone and is then below the sides so the little one cannot roll off. -

Just as a heads up, depending on what area of the country you are in, you may see liquid laundry detergents being clearanced. Some areas, however, will not see this big clearance for a month or so. Here is a link to an article about it... http://www.treehugger.com/files/2007/10/walmart_laundry.php Basically, yanno how you find Tide HE in a 2x compaction formula only now? All detergents were "encouraged" by WM to do this across the board. So Target and other retailers will be clearancing the regular 100 oz etc sizes as they will no longer be manufactured. -

The more you sleep on them and wash them, the softer they get also.

I am not sure about this rule/policy but did want to mention that when I go into my local store when it opens, most of the stocking crew are on break. I realize this isn't the mark down crew but if they saw something, they could get it right then. Besides, some of the fun is the hunt...and I would assume it is similar for the employees too. Although sometimes us darn customers buy something they want, I bet they get some nice stuff too...as they should. -

I, too, have seen ornaments for a few weeks, cards also. Today, in the housewares department, they were putting up more decorations like snowglobes etc. -

What was happening with these is that they were in the scanner as a "single box price". So yes, if they scanned them, they would show up as 69 cents because that is the "single box price". It was not a matter of being clearanced as I understand, but instead, it was a clerical error. It obviously needs to be fixed in their system and if it scans as 69 cents, most states have laws that they must sell it for that. However, I would not expect that price and would not be upset if they told me no. It is an error. I had the same thing happen to me once with 6packs bottles of soda. It rang up 99 cents which is a "single bottle price". They allowed me to purchase the 4 items in my cart but when I went back later to see if I could get some more, they rang up at the regular price of $2.99. My personal feeling is: Yes it is great if they make a mistake and it is in your favor. However to insist on getting the pricing mistake over and over again is extreme. AGAIN, this is my personal opinion...it is similar to having a eyeliner pencil in your cart and you forget to take it out or the cashier does and you get out to your car and you see it. Do you take it back in? Or do you take it home knowing you did not purchase it.
