I am the most excited that Global stuff is coming in! I saw my store putting out some really nice pieces. Can't wait for that stuff to clearance! -
I certainly didn't mean to make anyone feel bad. I was just trying to explain that I do understand the frustration of no gift receipts. I think trying to give a gift that is thoughtful is a wonderful thing and never meant to imply it wasn't. It definitely is a 2 way street. Unfortunately, sometimes one side has a lot of road construction with huge barriers that are impossible to get over. My FIL just passed away last year. We always thought it was him that distanced himself from their grandchildren. After he passed, we tried very hard to include her in as much as we could considering we were 5 hours apart. However we have learned that it wasn't the FIL that created the distance, it was the MIL. Since it is more than one person, it is our family and MIL, she has to make some efforts also or else we are just frustrating ourselves. I have tried and tried again. Sometimes you have to know how to fold em for your family's well being. I apologize for the thread jack...Believe me, we have tried and since losing the FIL, we know life is short. Sometimes you just cannot change what others do.

Yes, I do think it would be better if they got them nothing. If you take no time to purchase a gift, but give a gift just to participate in the act of giving a gift, why did you give the gift? In other words, a gift should be a thoughtful token of what you want to give to the person you are gifting. If there is no thought, it is not a gift but instead a responsibility. My kids always write a thank you note too even tho the gift wasn't given to them in actuality. In my own circumstance with my MIL, she views her grandchildren as a fun accessory but spends no time with them at all, thus she doesn't know them. She likes to brag about her grandchildren but doesn't want to get to know who they really are and what they like. So in my own circumstance, my MIL gives a gift because it is part of the image.

My MIL also rips all tags and identifiable markers off any clothing and gives it to us without receipt. All her gifts go to Goodwill, neighbors or the garbage, depending on what it is. I disagree that it is the thought that counts...because if you were trying to get a gift that someone liked/wanted/needed, you would try to ask questions and notice if the person was interested in such things. My MIL bought my daughter a small t shirt this year and ripped all the tags off. Last year she bought her a sweater that was too small and a boys sweatshirt that was almost too small. Personally, clothes are one of the toughest things to buy anybody so if you do not know them well enough, they should not be purchased.

LOL....we put a present away after buying it one year and we didn't find it for over a year. I looked and looked and NOTHING! It was beginning to be a good joke around here. So now I keep all together and pay closer attention....too hard to remember!

Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2005-06

I have stood behind people who have asked for multiple gift receipts so have seen it happen. And I have been asked by good cashiers how many gift receipts I would like and for what items. I completely understand getting a gift without a receipt to return. My MIL gives gifts that never fit and removes all tags and stickers and no receipts ever. Most of the time I cannot even figure out where she got the item so for us, it is a donation to Goodwill or to a neighbor that can use the item. Just the way gifts work out sometimes. I would honestly just ask at the service counter if you knew you were buying gifts about the gift receipt. Each store can be different and if you ask before you purchase something, then you get the correct answer for your instance. -

LOL..I had to look it up just to be sure I had the correct explanation... It actually means: Your mileage may vary. So in this instance, it refers to your results could vary whether the coupons would be accepted or not. -

I suppose they could do a lot of things but why not when you purchase something that you plan on giving for a gift or even think remotely that you may give as a gift, why not just ask for a gift receipt? -
Wallflowers - White Barn Candle Co
scrabbler replied to KuponKlipper's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Yes, BBW and White Barn Candle Company are the only places you can purchase the refills that I have found. I was hooked on them and found that I could also call a store and they would ship them to me. I recently got hooked on Febreze Noticeables and like those fragrances and the fact that I can find the refills in more places. -

Oh I just realized...I do think they have a policy that if you buy a SEASONAL item and then return it after the season, ie, during clearance of the Christmas items, they do only give back the clearance price. This would prevent those people who buy things at the beginning of the season and use the product and then try to return it at the end of the season. If this was happening at your store, I would assume that your store is having a problem with people doing just that and they had to do something across the board. I personally have never had an issue returning a seasonal issue because I have never tried it. If you purchased something that was defective or was still sealed in box and it was obvious, you could perhaps plead your case. Otherwise there is always the great art of regifting. -

I would ask them for a copy of the return policy and read it thoroughly to see where it states this issue. Here is an online link to their return policy: http://www.target.com.au/html/refund/refund.htm -

Typically, yep! Which is why they do give gift receipts. My understanding is if you have a receipt and it is within their time frame of returns, you will then get what you paid for it or what the gifter paid for it. -
Check any store for the red and green as they are clearanced after Xmas.

I had that happen with a company only the package was lost. I kept calling to see where it was and they could not find it. They felt so bad they sent me a new one, over night and told me that if I get the original to just let them know. You have to love companies that put the customer first.

A Welcome Gift for New Neighbors
scrabbler replied to ccarson1972's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
I moved from a big city to a small city about 9 years ago. (Have since moved again.) As the packers were unpacking, a very nice neighbor lady came over with a plate of cookies to welcome us to the neighborhood. Now remember we had just moved from a large city where a lot of times, we had no idea who our neighbors even were. So she introduces herself and tells me the ages of her kids and we chat a bit, she gives me the plate of cookies and off she goes. I hate to say it, but those cookies went right into the garbage. I had 2 small children, 9 mos and almost 3 years old and I had no idea who this lady was. Later, when she became a good friend, I told her I threw her cookies away and we laughed about it. Mostly because she NEVER EVER bakes and only baked the cookies so she had a reason to meet her new neighbors. -

Today I found some special Christmas gifts marked down 30%. I also noticed the designer Hagan stuff was marked down 30%. Not enough for me to buy anything but thought I would mention it. -
WOW...how big was that? We got one for 269 last year...just the insert part, and hubby crafted a surround for it. With the surround it would have been about what you paid and that was regular price for the largest that Menards sells. BF, I got a small cast iron look one for an excellent price at Menards. It heats my bedroom wonderfully on those cold nites. I think we paid 59. Since then we have seen the exact thing in ads for 89 and up.

I disguise and this year, I didn't put names on them. Instead I put codes. (I wrote what the codes are in a secret place.) This weekend we put a few of the presents under the tree and my kids are having a fit because they are labeled....KKY...and GGW... LOL...they are soo confused.

Many stores take things back without boxes as long as you have the receipt. Especially if it is defective. Go for it and let us know!

I have IL stories!! But won't bore you because they are typical. Last year tho we got the dreaded call...FIL fell over, rushed to hospital and we had to make the hard decision of taking him off life support since he was brain dead. DH didn't want to go. He hadn't talked to father in almost a year. Father had little time for him. I ended up going and waiting in the hospital while dh worked and spent time with our children. The stories I heard them reminisce about ticked me off more. They never spent time with their only grandchildren, our children, but there was a little girl, a brothers grandchild that called our childrens grandfather, grandfather....apparently he loved spending time with her...but never spent any time with ours. Anyway...fil is dead and mil just wants her family around...so what has happened in a year? She has been very selfish and taking...so now we are ignoring her again. It is really sad but we have tried and it hurts my dh. I refuse to watch him be hurt by his remaining parent any longer. I am done. So no Christmas at my IL's. Instead I just have to deal with my own family...which is interesting enough!
