  1. I scored big today at CVS and at Walgreens. Everything at the Walgreens I went to was 75% off and that included the gift sets. When I was there, they had a lot left but it was going fast. I managed to get 2 gift sets, plus a cute Christmas Carrousel that I had been eyeing for under $15. CVS had a few things for 75% off, one of which was a four foot Snow Globe, which I picked up for $19.70 after the 75% off plus a $4 off coupon on any purchase over $20.
  2. I think this will be an execellent oppourtunity for your son to learn about gun safety and also respect for things that are not really a toy. Our son had that Red Ryder BB gun when he was small adn went on from there learning gun safety before he could advance to a more powerful gun. He also learned repsect for other peoples property, if that makes sense. My hubby drilled into him that he should always respect other peoples property and that included Dads guns. Randy is 36 now and right to this very day, he will not borrow one of Dads gun without asking him first or even go into the room where most of hubbys gun collection is kept.
  3. I jsut got back from my local Kroger and the only thing they had marked down was 25% off decorations. I do know for a fact that different Krogers will have stuff priced differently at each store.
  4. Oh, that is only 15 minutes or less from where I live. Did they have a lot of stuff left?
  5. Of course I believe in me!!!! Seriously though, as long as there is a spirit of giving and love in our hearts, Santa will always be among us. Merry Christmas everyone. Lynda
  6. We only have one, now 36 years old. But I have found myself matching prices on gifts we get for other kids so I am sure I would have done the same thing had we had more children of our own.
  7. One of our local radio stations did that a few years ago. They started it around Thanksgiving and it didn't end till Christmas. It must not have worked out very good for them because they have not done it since. I love Christmas music but even I have my limits. This was way too much for me.
  8. A little plastic Angel that at one point had a dress made out of some kind of gold glitter material. The glitter is peeling off now and her wings are held on with a pin. Probably not pretty to anyone but me and my husband. She has hung front and center on our tree every Christmas that we have been married. We have been married 37 years.
  9. I picked up one of those Brother sewing machines at Walmart years ago and it is still serving me well. I don't do all the sewing that I did in the past but I do a lot of craft projects that I use the machine for.
  10. Me and hubby were darn near jumped because in our wondering around trying to find a gift for a friends son, we accidentally wondered into a check out line. I guess the lady thought that we were trying to jump line and she really let us have it. Needless to say, we put the one item we had back on the shelf and left. Our Toys R Us was not set up right for a Black Friday sale. It was small, on that day it was very crowded and they may have had 3 check out lines.
  11. I managed to get one out of twelve that our Krogers got in last Sunday morning. Al lthe stores around here got 12 with the exception of Hyde Park who got 24 of them.
  12. We wre at Steve & Barrys last January, about the 5th of the month. They had a clearance sale going on and everything was $7.99. It could be that they will have even lower prices on black Friday.
  13. All but one of the stores I go to on Black Friday are within a one mile radius.
  14. I just got an Aldi's ad, the regular one, and it had a computer in it. I can't remember the price but I do recall thinking it was not that good of a deal. Maybe they would price it cheaper for a Black Friday sale.
  15. Year before last, we hit Frischs after we were done shopping, last year it was Bob Evans. This year it will probably be IHOP. We don't eat right after we get up, coffee only.
  16. I actually thought about that. I think they may be worried about what kind of impact not having a layaway on Black Friday will have on their bottom line. I heard, before they made the announcement that they were closing all layaway departments, that they were going to leave layaway in some stores open. Did anyone besides me here that?

Every year, my husband and I get one or two names off an Angel Tree and get what ever they have on their wish list. A lot of my Black Friday shopping is for these gifts. Knowing that you have made at least one child smile on Christmas morning is a priceless blessing.
  18. that was what I was going to say. Years ago, we did get a small bonus. It sure wasn't anything to write home about but we at least got somethig. It went from a small cash bonus to a cheap gift to nothing. YAYYYYYY for all of you that do receive one.
  19. We always go to my aunts for Thanksgiving Dinner and we look at the ads together. If she sees something she wants, I will get it for her. She's not able to go out for herself, she has a bad heart. On the otherhand, if someone was perfectly able to go out for themselves, I wouldn't pick up anything for them. Way I look at it, why should I freeze my butte off while they are laying at home in a nice warm bed.
  20. It would depend not only on how she was feeling, but if there had been problems at the stores/malls you plan on visiting in the past.
  21. WOO HOO!!!!!!!!! Let the fun begin. I see a Snow Globe in my future.
  22. First off, you are a nice person. Go on out, shop till you drop, save some money. I can kind of understand where you are coming from though. I would love to have one of those new Elmos but I don't think I could bring myself to buy one because I would feel like I was knocking some child out of getting one.
  23. that would most definately make me mad. As far as I am concerned, the associate deserved to have the flier thrown at him. You don't tell someone that they are a terrible mother. That is just asking for it. With that kind of attitude from those employess, they will have a definate problem when BB opens up. Did you write to Planet Feedback about what happedned? I do have to add that I have always been treated very well when I went to CC. They are very nice and helpful at the store we go to.
  24. I have never heard of a store around here opening at that time. My apologies to those who would like this, but I hope they don't start doing this. I am a 3rd shift worker and I will be working on that night. I am lucky to get my boss to let me off at 4A.
