I'm in Oklahoma. We might have tornadoes one day, and snow the next. We've BF shopped in everything from sleet & snow to t-shirt weather. A few years back we had so much rain, there was 3 inches of water in the parking lots. Had to buy dry socks, lol. This year, we should have a high around 50° and a low around 30°. But every Okie knows, that's subject to change and we're way to far out for accurate forecasting.

I saw the Echo in the Kohl's ad for $29.99, so obviously I was wrong Sometimes, it pays to be wrong.

We've made a lot of memories. A few of note would be: the year my sister and I showed up at the mall super early to go to KB Toys, only to find out that mall didn't HAVE a KB Toys. Then there was the year my sister stood in line to get in to Toys R Us, the line went all the way out to the street (don't know why they didn't have them lined up against the building), it was sleeting and her coat was in my car (I had left to go somewhere ELSE for a different "must have")! Or more recently, when my dil got my grandson a recliner. The guy at Atwoods was like "no way is that going to fit in the car". Well... http://i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k499/ts1852/603995_4109324451295_1861433049_n.jpg

Just a few more days to get signed up! It's a lot of fun, don't miss out.

When my son got married, I just added my new dil to the list. She gets the same # of gifts my sons get. I never had a daughter, so I've found shopping for her is a lot of fun, lol. If I get them gifts as a couple, it's included in their number, so my younger son might actually end up with more individual gifts, but they're all even. Everyone's family dynamic is different though. I don't think there's any one right way to do it. Follow your heart.

This does not help you at all, but it reminded me of a book I used to read as a child about a tree that was too tall, so they cut the top off. Instead of throwing it out, I think the maid took the top, but that was too tall for where she wanted it, so she cut the top off. So someone else took that piece and had to cut the top off, and by the end of the book everyone, down to the mice, had a nice Christmas tree . I need to see if I can find that book for my grandchildren. As for your dilemma, if you can figure out how to cut part of the bottom rod off (is it pre-lit, and is the rod part of that? Something to think about.), I think it will look fine for the bottom branches to be close to the floor. In fact, I prefer that look.

Then, there's this: https://www.facebook.com/thisisinsiderdesign/videos/494586957549605/ . It's a typewriter keyboard, for your tablet. Obviously, not what she's after. I just thought of this thread when I saw it . http://i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k499/ts1852/d8c408_44439797b2cf470baa235c73fb6202ba-mv2.png

I am usually able to get most, if not all, of my list online. But we still go out, and somehow I still spend money.

I was going to mention that that's a good price on that stand mixer. I have a 6 quart, and it's my favorite kitchen gadget. It's big enough to handle large batches at a time. I think I gave about $150 more for mine, so yes I would recommend it.

Sooooo, I'm beginning to rethink the push notifications. I was in the middle of cooking supper when the Kohl's ad was announced and couldn't get to the computer. It. Was. Killing. Me! LOL
-
Well, I didn't get a push notification about the JFK assassination, so here I am! Priorities in order.
-
Just went to make sure I follow you on Twitter (I do!), LOL. What I didn't know though, is that I could turn on push notifications to be automatically alerted when you post on Twitter. I don't get on Twitter all that often, so I have now turned that feature on as well .

I know they have people a lot smarter than me telling them how to run their business. But, do they REALLY make more money by having the sale on Thursday instead of early Friday? I mean, they get in limited quantities anyway, so they are probably going to sell out, and the store is like a ghost town on Friday morning. So, it isn't like they get business Thursday AND Friday, they get business Thursday INSTEAD OF Friday. Same money, if my logic tracks.

Ya, I'm on the site at least 5 times a day, myself. Checking for ads, of course, but also just checking for new posts. I love following the conversations going on.

I'm horrible about judging size or distance. That would be the woman in me, lol. BUT, I'd guess around 4 ft in diameter? These pics are bad, but I tried to crop them so that you could see the tree, and kind of in relation to standard stuff (like the window, or recliner). http://i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k499/ts1852/DSC06632.jpghttp://i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k499/ts1852/IMG_1920.jpg

I take Snickers salad to our family dinners (and get in trouble if I don't, lol), but I use cream cheese instead of pudding mix. I wonder what a difference it would make. I might have to try it that way, just to see.

I was beginning to think you weren't playing this year .

This candied snack mix always goes over well: Heat oven to 250° Combine into 9x13 pan and set aside: (1) 16 oz box of Quaker Oat Squares (honestly, I'm not sure they still make these. The last few times I've made it I've used Quaker Oatmeal Squares. Not the same thing, but they work fine)(2) cups pecans Combine in a microwavable bowl: 1/2 cup white corn syrup1/2 cup packed brown sugar1/4 cup margarineHeat on High 1.5 minutes, stir, and heat another 1.5 minutes. Stir in 1 tsp vanilla, and 1 tsp baking soda. Pour over cereal mix, and stir to coat. Bake 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes. Pour out over wax paper and separate to dry. **You can pour in to bowl, or leave in baking dish, but you need to be sure to stir and break apart pieces constantly or you'll have one big block of candied cereal.

Twins, how fun! Congrats to you too!

Yay to the winners! Congratulations. ILikeFree, that's awesome!

We used to LOVE getting the wish book.

I do all of the ordering for my company, so I checked the websites of the office supply companies we use most often. Even with our preferred customer discounts, you're best price is Amazon. Looks like you're looking at around $150. https://www.amazon.com/Nakajima-WPT-150-Electronic-Typewriter/dp/B001D4CH9O/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1508864990&sr=8-7&keywords=typewriter

They actually already had them loaded in carts around here. And, you're right, there are always a lot of people to help. Home Depot does Black Friday right .
-
I went back and checked all the submissions from last year, and there were 7 that were turned in 10/25 or later. We have plenty of time . One does stand out as MIA, though. If she doesn't chime in soon I may PM her. I hope everything is okay with her and her family.

The best Black Friday deal for the Xbox One, a few years ago, was through Microsoft.com itself. I don't know how long it had been out at that point, but if I remember correctly the deal was the same price other stores had it but they included a $60 Microsoft gift card and like 3 or 4 other games.
