Yes, I believe so. We have echos, but I'm pretty sure the dot and the new devices have all the same features and skills.

I'm excited to see what they offer. I picked up some smart plugs on Prime Day, but I haven't actually used them yet. I know I will at Christmas.

I know people are still trickling back in to the Black Friday forums. We have just about 2 1/2 weeks to get everyone's information in.

I would totally pay someone to do that! I hate wrapping. My mom wraps as she goes, all year long. I cannot do that. I would be freaking out at Christmas time, afraid I didn't really wrap something but it got checked off the list, and I would end up unwrapping everything to check this list again. LOL. I usually pull out a folding table and set everything up in the living room, make some homemade cocoa, and turn on White Christmas to watch while I wrap.

My sister (and Black Friday partner of many years) has just informed me she has applied for a part time position at Walmart! WAL-FREAKING-MART! She can't work at Walmart! They will make her work on Black Friday. She can't work on Black Friday, she has to be with ME on Black Friday! I mean, I know she needs the money, especially with Christmas coming up, but right now I need to selfishly make this all about ME. What is she THINKING??

The Amazon devices have the new(ish) "drop in" feature, which enables you to do just that. I recently went to the app, while at work, thinking I had to set it up. Well, it's already set up, you just use it, so when I touched "drop in" from my phone and could hear someone moving around in my house, I called my son's name (I thought he was at work, and the house should have been empty). Totally freaked him out. I sure wish I could have been there to see the look on his face!

We played with all the kids one year. You wrap several small gifts (candy, money, whatever) in different layers in a big saran wrap ball. One person has the ball, while the person to their left rolls 2 dice. The person with the ball has until the dice person rolls doubles, to try to unwrap the saran wrap and get to the prizes. When we played, the kids had to wear gloves (maybe oven mitts, I'm not sure), which made it that much harder to unwrap. It got really loud, but the kids had a blast with it. I love love love Christmas, but even I think now is too early to decorate a Christmas tree, lol. Having said that, I don't judge or begrudge anyone that decorates early. I have a pretty small house, so it's a big deal when I get everything put up. If I had more room, I might be more in the "let's do it now!" camp. I decorate for Christmas on Thanksgiving weekend. And take it all down within a couple days after Chrismtas.

I've tried their new unmanned kiosk for picking up site to store purchases, and it did not go smoothly. I'd be a little skeptical of this. Hopefully it works well, though.

Be sure to use the "import a photo from a url" option. The "upload from file" option will not work.

I'm sorry I'm not any help, but after looking these up I want one for Christmas too!! One of them even coos and has a heartbeat. Honestly, I hope you are able to get one of these for your dd. I got a baby doll for Christmas when I was 9 years old, and at 45 she is still my most prized possession.

I am one of those people that hates to be asked what I want. I can seriously never think of an answer. I don't want to ask for something expensive, and of course if it isn't expensive, I've probably already bought it . This sounds cheesy, but honestly, from my (grown) kids, I just want them to think of me. I mean, neither has any extra money, and the oldest has kids he needs to spend what money he has on. So, a hand written note would be perfect. Really. Just something that says "I thought about my mom at Christmas". Gosh, I hope I don't sound like I'm whining.

Planning to get my mom a 2nd Echo Dot. I'm sure they will be $39.99, but I'm hoping they go lower than that this year. Also, want to get my oldest ds an air compressor so hoping to find a good deal on one. Pulled out last year's ads and it looks like the best deals were at Tractor Supply and Home Depot.
