  1. Love the homemade scarf idea! I'm torn about who to give gifts to. DS has 2 morning daycare teachers, 1 afternoon teacher who is constant and then there's always a random one, plus the teacher he used to have while one was on maternity leave who I really like. He still sees her every day because she's in the classroom next door that he'll be moving into probably soon after the new year. There's another teacher in there who is getting moved out of the room and I don't know who is getting moved in. Then there's all the support staff - the directors etc. I'm thinking of making cookies or something for the staff but give specific gifts to at least his 3 permanent teachers. I'd like to do something for the other teacher in the next room too, but maybe we'll see how the budget is looking when it gets closer.
  2. Redneck Twelve Days of Christmas
  3. They had a mailer last year with a 15% off Pick-A-Day that you could use.
  4. It was on Good Morning America's Twitter this morning that Target is opening at 8pm. (News story here: http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory/target-open-earlier-thanksgiving-20847362) I'm kind of indifferent to what time the stores open, I just wish they wouldn't all open at the same time! It's tough to decide where to start!
  5. I think this is brilliant! I don't think I've seen anything like it. Could you get a fun mylar balloon that no one would think is the store's marker? Maybe something totally random? Let us know how this works!
  6. Usually when Dyson goes on sale at one retailer, all of the retailers have the same deal. I've noticed that happen a few times through the year. It must be set by Dyson themselves. I don't think Lowes has any doorbusters so you might find fewer lines there in the early morning. I always make Lowes one of my last stops because of that, however, I've also run into stock outs on the good deals.
  7. If it helps, it's $5 off the total Nerf purchase, so if you bought darts to go with it, you could use the coupon. My friend bought the Rebelle crossbow on sale for $16.99 and 2 packs of darts and was able to use the coupon. They also have a 10% off coupon if you use the Cartwheel app.
  8. Better Days by the Goo Goo Dolls is a Christmas song that gets played all year.
  9. Do you think maybe they're opening early BECAUSE they know that most people won't make it and will just do their shopping online? I haven't been to TRU on BF in several years, but it's always been absolute chaos. Maybe this is their way of controlling the crowds and pushing more sales to their website?
  10. Did I miss it or did they not have any My Little Pony stuff this year? It's pretty much the only thing my nieces want!
  11. You can also sign up to get 20% BBBY coupons sent to your phone too. If all you're doing is buying the comforter, there's no reason to wait for BF. If you're buying the whole set, you're better off waiting or making multiple trips.
  12. I've bought a few things for my nieces when there's a good deal on Zulily or Groupon. Nothing too major, but it feels good to be able to cross a few people off my list before things get crazy.
  13. Now that you say that, when I went back to RetailMeNot to check again, the code is gone. I wonder if they had the wrong one up or something and just took it down. Oh well, 15% it is!
  14. I saw on RetailMeNot that the CYBER20 code will be active on 11/21 a 3pm CST for 20% off online purchases. I'm planning on waiting until then to try that one. If I can save an extra 5%, I'm going to try!
  15. I think the ads will say if a certain town is opening later. I got a Bob's flyer and it listed two different opening times and the store locations that would be opening at each time. I live right on the NH border too (@jskarp, we might be neighbors!) and do all of my shopping in NH so I haven't been paying much attention to the Blue Laws.
  16. Does anyone know if they'll price match and accept competitor coupons on Black Friday? Ace Hardware has some great stuff on sale but Home Depot is much more convenient to my house.

I wonder if they just do 20% off your order like Bed Bath and Beyond does? Just figuring that they're owned by the same company so would have similar sales?
  18. I agree. If you're looking to stock up, I think your best bet is a "% of your total order" type of sale. If you're just looking for one or two kits, then the 40% off coupon is the way to go. Or you could wait until Cyber Monday and see if there are any online deals from Herrschners or some place like that.
  19. From my research last year, I think LG and Samsung are the two best brands out there. I can't remember which one, but I think one of them makes Kenmore Elite as well. I don't think you can go wrong with either of those brands.
  20. Congratulations to you too (and the other mommas-to-be on this thread)! You ladies who are braving the crowds make me feel like such a wimp! I completely admire you! Since everything is opening so early, I might hit some stores up at midnight and then head right to bed. Last year I went out 3 separate times on Black Friday and finished almost all of my shopping. The thought of being on my feet that long scares me!
  21. I'm pregnant too but I'm not sure how much BF shopping I'll be doing. I'll only be 18 weeks, but I'm not sure I have the patience for the crowds. I think I *might* have the stamina. I'm going to play it by ear. There's nothing that I absolutely have to get so far, so I might just do the online thing in my pjs.
  22. I think your strategy also depends on where the stores are in relation to another. I never go to Walmart on BF because it's not convenient to the other stores I want to shop at. You can also check out sheets and stuff at Bed Bath and Beyond. They'll have 20% off of your whole purchase. It's usually a little calmer there because they don't have doorbusters. Also, if you're with your husband, you can always divide and conquer. If we get in a store with a long line, DH will just get a cart and stand in line immediately and I'll run around and pick up merchandise. Then we switch if there's stuff that he wants to get. DH does a lot of "line-shopping" on his phone, which is a huge help. Then we don't miss the specials on Amazon, etc, because we were standing in line. Good luck!
  23. I got an awesome deal last year on a Samsung washer/dryer set at Lowes for $999 (but I used a Home Depot 10% off moving coupon from the Post Office and made it even cheaper). It was basically like buying the washer and getting the dryer free. I scanned the Lowes ad and it looks like they've got something similar going on this year. I was also able to order mine a week before Black Friday because they were honoring the deal early. I've been generally happy with it so far, especially when I think about how little we paid!
  24. Thanks for the scan! Do we have an ad for this weekend's friends and family event?
  25. I got my niece one for her 4th birthday. She was having fun rolling her friends' suitcases around on a sleepover once, so I figured that would be a fun gift. She told her mom it was her favorite present (and she got a bike that year too)! She packs her toys in it and rolls it around the house. It's also good for its intended purpose - overnights at Grammy's!
