  1. Thanks! DH is one that says complaining is okay, but even better when you offer ideas or solutions, so he offers ideas whenever he complains. He used to irk me. Every time I would complain to him, he would ask me about solution(s). Now when I complain to him I have a solution ready for him. Well most of the time lol. My neighbor just asked me about any leaks, and I told her what was happening with WalMart. She is on her way to call as well.

    BF Virgin

Great tips. I have to remember to point my sister towards this site. Last year was her first BF, but we kept it simple. This year she wants to go to BB, even after seeing the full parking lot last year before 4am. I can not go to BB with her, but I want her to have all the tips she can get! Thanks for the information!
  3. Sent another email, and my DH called. I can't believe he called! He is upset because he sees this as the big powerhouse threating to sue as a show of their power. DH started his call with, " I understand not wanting to have information made to the public early, but it happens". He said the tactic was all wrong, and that in this day and age it is hard to keep anything secret for long. (He gave Harry Potter book 7 as an example.) He said a better choice would be to politely ask sites to remove the ad IF leaked. He felt they would lose a lot less consumers that way. He also suggested they could use a leak towards their advantage. If leaked they could view public response and if poor, they could offer an incentive. An incentive such as a coupon for an additional 10 or 15% off total purchase. The coupon could easily be printed off of their website or handed out the morning of BF and of course "leaked" so consumers were made aware. I am so proud of DH!
  4. In my email to them, I mentioned I would be contacting the media with my views, and I plan to mention that in my letter to the officers and board of directors. Now I am looking for a few email addresses for media.
  5. It is so fun when you meet the same people year after year. Reminds me of the movie Same Time Next Year.
  6. I sent my email off, and now I am going to compose a letter to send to some of the officers, and board of directors. I am going to use the corporate address mailing address, but address it to most of the people listed on their site. http://www.walmartfacts.com/content/default.aspx?id=6 http://www.walmartfacts.com/content/default.aspx?id=5
  7. In the past I have never received the Wal-Mart BF ad. Neither in the mail or in my newspaper, therefore I usually ended up there after the fact if I had money left after shopping stores for which I had seen ads. The year I found this site was the first year, in a long time, Wal-Mart received a good part of my BF budget. (Only because I was able to see their ad, and saw items I wanted.) I will be contacting Wal-Mart as well. I will keep coming back here to gottadeal.com day after day even without BF ads! I wonder if they realize their ad is terrible this year and they don't want people to have advance notice.
  8. Maybe goodie bags will come back one day!
  9. Thank you for the links!
  10. So sorry to hear about your family. I hope things work out soon. Congrats on getting DH to go! Mine went once, and that was years and years ago to get a TV for our bedroom. He was excited to finally have one, and didn't want me to break it while getting it to the car.
  11. I also like to go to Walmart for PM, although last year the one I went to had quite a few items missing from their shelves. Last year I also had family decide to go with me. So far, and this of course may change, I will go to my Walmart Super Center first, and hopefully they will stay open this year, then I will go to Sears, then Bath and Body Works, and then someplace for breakfast! Before breakfast, if I haven't gone over my budget, I may check out the other store deals. Then home!!
  12. We had a few people ask how we filled our shopping carts so fast! They thought the store had opened at 5, they were a bit upset to learn the store never closed.
  13. Last year I went to one in a town next to us. They stayed opened all night, but we couldn't get any of the sales items until the sale started at 5am. I have heard that some Super Walmarts are different so it is a YMMV type of thing. We just shopped for things we wanted to PM while we waited for them to remove the wrappings off of the sale items.
  14. So far so good. Hopefully the rumors are true. Memory cards would be great little gifts to give to my mom, sister, and a cousin that really needs one. I look forward to seeing more.

    Online or Stores

I shop online and in stores. Now as far as BF goes and deals, most of my shopping is done in the store. Usually my shopping is almost done by BF as far as Christmas goes, but I love the rush, and who says I can't get a jump on next Christmas and birthdays! I usual shop online for items I can't find in stores. Or for deals that are online only, and still a deal after shipping. I live five at the most ten minutes away from several major stores so that helps, because I dislike driving far.
  16. Well usually it is still breakfast time so I pick up something, go home eat, just me and hubby so I don't need to hide gifts from him. I then nap after nap decorate and wrap if I feel up to it. Most times we go visit relatives and/or friends who may be leaving town that weekend.
  17. I like that idea Yakyma. I have a very large extended family, and normally we have several different board games going on at the same time. It would be wonderful to split into teams and have a scavenger hunt.
  18. I do a budget, but it is a per person budget. It is usually set during the previous Christmas Season, and I tend to start buying on December 26. Sometimes I go over, but that is usually because I see an item I know someone would just love, and I have to get it for them. The total this year is $500.00.
  19. I am sure this may change, but since I am not looking for any major items I am thinking of leaving home at 4AM for my first stop.
  20. Well it turns out my sister wants to go to Best Buy this year with her hubby! She saw how busy it was when we passed there at 3AM last year, but she still wants to go. I told her no way I was going to Best Buy and good luck! I will babysit her son Thanksgiving day, and my mother will have him the rest of the night as I do plan to head out to WalMart and a few other stores. So I am back to shopping alone on BF, which is good as I can go where I want, when I want, and most important come home when I want. :holiday08
  21. I do!!! And I must admit I find myself looking back at the discussions from previous years. I get so excited! :eyepoppin
  22. Last year was the longest I have been out in a long time including travel time and waiting I would say close to 7 hours. This year I don't plan to be out as long. Nothing major I want, that requires camping out, so I am hoping to be home by 7AM. (After leaving home at 4AM) I like to get the items on my list and go. Hopefully if my mom and sister go with me again this year they will feel the same.
  23. I have a large extended family, usually the younger adults take the children out to the movies. While the older family visits a bit more talking, watching a dvd, and/or playing a board game. Once hubby and I arrive home we clean up the mess we tend to make earlier in the day getting ready to visit friends and family that will not be at our family dinner later in the afternoon. Then I to set my mind on after Christmas sales the next day or later that morning since we never get home until after 1AM.
  24. Santa brings me one or two now. When I was a child he would bring three plus one for me to donate to an organization that gave the items to a woman's shelter. (In case they had to bring children with them when they went to the shelter for safety.) Hubby and I plan to continue with that if we are blessed with children.
  25. Last year we went to Wal-Mart first, then we made the mistake of heading to Toys-R-Us where there was a line wrapped around the store to check out. We left there and my aunt was lucky to get all of the toy items she had on her list. Due to recent changes we will be heading to Sears first I will wait for the other ads to determine second.
