Organization? (Do you carry ads with you? What about cash and wallets???)
Bunniq replied to momof2many's topic in 2006
I take my phone so I can wake people up lol and read GottaDeal.com forums. I also take my DL, credit card, keys and a small amount of cash. The ads I carry if price matching, and of course my GottaDeal.com shopping list! I lost my jacket that had two inside pockets. I hope to find a deal on another soon. -
Out of the house by 4AM, last year over slept, but still got the everything I wanted except for the grill from Macys. (Got a raincheck for that one.) I was home at 8:45AM. This year the plan is to leave home by 4AM and head to either Kohls or WalMart, depending on the ads, and any price matching I may want to try. I try to stick to my shopping list so I am in and out. I usually get home around 9AM and that includes picking up breakfast.

Credit cards for us this year on BF. We have been using credit cards and paying them off when the bill comes to try and boast up our credit scores before we enter the housing market. We only have a few things to shop for mostly for our nephews and each other. Last year we bought clothes for our nephews, but their moms tend to go overboard with clothes so we figure we would buy books and toys for them this year.

I love the made for TV movies. I am so happy I have DVR now so I can record them to watch over and over this season. 3 Days made me cry when I saw it, and I wanted everyone I knew to see it as well. It made me hold those close to me near and dear.

Where have I been? I had not heard of this movie. I must buy! Our apartment complex has a 12 seat theater I can't wait to rent it out and watch Christmas movies all night. Oh and Elf, that was the first time I had seen Will Ferrell in action and I simply fell in love.

I called my local ToysRUs and was told they have some in, but they will not be on the shelves until tomorrow morning. My order information was updated with the following: TMX Elmo Updated Shipping Estimate: October 23, 2006 - November 6, 2006 Updated Delivery Estimate: October 30, 2006 - November 17, 2006 Your approval required by: October 25, 2006 We will still try to dispatch the above item(s) by the approval required by date(s). If this is not possible, and we have not received your approval for the delay by the date(s) listed above, we will cancel this part of your order. So I hope to get one tomorrow morning from ToysRUs if not I will wait since my nephews birthday is not until December 18th.

I listen to Christmas music and watch Christmas movies all year long! I think I know Christmas Vacation word for word! I think I will watch it now. What is your favorite Christmas CD and movie? (I need to add to my collection.)

I started going out on BF with my mother, and the rest of the family thought we were a bit *nuts*. We mostly went to people watch! So much fun. It has been years since my mother has gone with me, and I go alone now, but a few years back when WalMart had their first computer, (e-machine I think) on sale a few of my family members caught the BF fever lol. I didn't even know they had until I saw my aunts and a few cousins in line and more passing me to get to the end of the line at WalMart. It was so funny to see them. Now that I think about it they had drilled and drilled me the night before about BF so I should have gotten the hint lol. They also got everything they wanted and that was good.

Thank you everyone for posting! Good ideas out there! I told my SIL of our plans and she was so happy. She thinks it would be a wonderful way to teach the children, and some adults, the gift of giving to someone who is in need. She also suggested maybe have people sign up on Thanksgiving to bring a small gift costing under $5.00 or handmade and we can play the hot potato game for those that signed up. Is that kind of what you do able and iluvdeals?

No not working on BF. In the past when I worked outside of the home I would work 3pm-12am on Thanksgiving so that I could be off the next day. My mother opens a stand at flea markets a few times a year and she is trying to get me to help her that Saturday after Thanksgiving. I keep telling her she might not have many customers due to BF.

In the past we have sent maybe 50 to friends, co-workers etc. This year we are cutting back gifts for extended family, we are going to send them cards with two handmade bookmarks, and information on a donation we are making in honor of our family. This year looking at over 100.

I ordered one from Amazon.com the day it came out, however it has not shipped and has a date of September 24. I keep looking for an email stating cancellation. I have a nephew that will be 3 on the 18th of December. He is crazy about Elmo, and I think this would be a wonderful birthday gift for him. I will keep looking if they cancel, but I don't think I will pay more than the retail price of 39.99. Poor little one usually gets the double gift of birthday/christmas like I did as a child. So I try and get him an extra special birthday gift.

I started this poll to see how others handle immediate and extended family gift giving during Christmas. For DH and I, immediate includes our grandparents, parents, siblings, their spouses, and their children. For us that numbers 15, and each year for Christmas we buy each of them gifts, as well as gifts for my aunts as they always make gifts to share with us. We also have an extended family that numbers over 60. For the last few years we have tried to find a way to give to everyone as the family grows, but we have learned that we can't. This year we are going to give a donation in our family name to a local charity instead of giving gifts to our extended family.

Same here. Our theme colors are going to be gold and red. I was able to find a roll of gold paper, and gold paper with red stripes last year at Target. Next year, yes already planning, will be baby blue and white. So I hope to find paper to match at this year's clearance sales.

Do I have to pick only one? :) I have several. 1. Finding GottaDeal.com! 2. Telling my family, friends, co-workers about GottaDeal.com and BF ads. 3. When they came back to me and said, "Wow your were right!" 4. Deciding to go back to WalMart on my way home, I had passed there around 4am and the line was long. I found two cabbage patch newborns and two ladies about to pounce for them both, but out of the corner of my eye I saw a worker coming over with a cart full of them! I grabbed two and headed to the checkout.

Super Walmarts - Do they close for Thanksgiving and then reopen? < merged >
Bunniq replied to BFQueenofNY's topic in 2006
There is one Super Walmart, and one on the way, in the area I live. And two regular Walmarts. The Super Walmart didn't close and people were allowed inside, and silly me didn't go to that one I went to a regular Walmart closer to my home and saw the line and left. I did go back later in the morning and was able to get what I wanted. -
I always seem to find something in the ads that I want to get for someone or myself. Last year the newborn cabbage patch doll was the one item I saw and wanted. I got one for my god-daughter, and one to donate.

BF is my last shopping day for Christmas gifts. Unless of course I hear of a good deal that I simply can not pass up.
-
On a good BF I am home by 09:00am, and if family is visting I will place my purchases in my closet and then take a nap so I can be a little alert when they start to need the "hostess". In that case I usually wrap when they have gone to bed later that night. However if family is not visiting, which this year they may not because of space, I try to wrap as soon as I get home and then I nap. I start shopping long before BF, but try to make BF my last shopping day for Christmas gifts. I save all wrapping for that day or night. The tree goes up on the Sunday following Thanksgiving, and I like to have the gifts wrapped and ready.

Maybe the grand opening of the new Kohl's in my area will hold me until BF 2006. The countdown for BF started early on my calendar, DH says I start it earlier and earlier each year.
-
Wow small world!!! Me TOO!! I can't wait for Kohl's to open.

Each year I end up with one main store route and a just in case route. Last year I planned to go to WalMart first but, woke up late and the line was just terrible so I went to plan B and headed to Macys. There is a new Kohls opening in October here and I think I may want to head there first and then WalMart and hope to price match a few deals I may see at other stores. I wonder if Kohls price matches.

What do you do to entertain yourself while you're in line?
Bunniq replied to brynnfromtheblock's topic in 2006
For the past few years I have done BF alone. Last year I met a lady that I stood in line with the previous year at a totally different store! That was funny we talked and talked like we were old friends. We both ended up at Macys because our original stores had long lines. We were one and two at Macys and we arrived there at 5ish. This year I plan to play games on my cellphone, read the GottaDeal forums and maybe post a bit about what is going on around me. -
This is how BF started for me! My mother and I would sneak away from the extended family and we would make up stories about people we saw. What kind of day they were having, what their holidays would be like etc. We always had fun and my mother allowed no negative stories. They were always upbeat. Times changed and now she tends to stay home with my nephews while their moms shop. I do BF alone now but I still people watch and wonder about people while in line. Bunniq
