Well on the other hand, occasionally the ads will be Amazon coupons...

The ads only show up on the "sleep" screen and I think at the bottom when you are scrolling in the market. It does not appear when you are reading.

It's allright. It's super slim, and there are some compromises made for the size. It's not that great in low light (most cheap cameras aren't). It seems like because of the size, it's easy for your hand to shake when you are taking the picture, leading to shaky images, and apparently it's worse when you are zoomed in. For the price it's ok, but I think it's cheaper in the US - 89 on Amazon.

Check to make sure the lenses will fit a new DSLR. My dad had an old cool Canon camera and still had the lenses, but they don't fit on my DSLR unless I buy an adapter. EDIT: Poked around. Pentax doesn't make the K-X anymore. They make the K-R and the K-5. Both good if you are more of the "outdoor" photographer and need a camera that can handle the elements. It's not going to be easy to find the K-X for $500 unless you can find it used. It seems like it's around 600 and anytime I see a lower price I get suspicious. The K-5 is almost $1,000. THe K-R is 600ish on amazon from a third party seller.

I really have no idea about stocking. If you get to the store at 1am, it really depends on your area and how crazy it gets on BF. If you REALLY want it and that's your goal item on BF, then get there earlier to make sure you get the item.

Also neither Joann's or Michaels put the 1 pound skeins on sale this year, which is odd. The pricing on yarn is better when they do their annual yarn sales.

If those are your choices, I'd get the Nikon. It's more of a proven brand. Never really been a fan of Fujifilm. The closest model I can see of the Fujifilm is the FinePix3200. They're both 14mp, 24x zoom, and 720p HD video recording.

Love both of those suggestions. The chat goes REALLY fast when there's a lot of people in there and I get lost really fast trying to help answering questions.

So 7900 yen comes out to about 100 dollars American. The Panasonic Lumix that tinkrbel mentions is a decent deal. That being said, I'd almost rather get the camera in Japan, I think they have cooler stuff. Actually I kinda like this Canon Powershot ELPH 100HS. Seems like a good package in the size (129.99 at office max, not a great deal). The 300 HS is a really thin camera - great for pocket sized, full HD video. It's only 150 on amazon for the black one, because there is a new model coming out.
-
I'd get them the Panasonic - I think it has the better lens. The NIKKOR lens is nice, but I think the touch screen on that camera will lend to more problems. Better to keep it simple.

Johnny, what size camera do you want? Point and shoot? DSLR? Inbetween? Do you want to take HD video? Do you need a lot of zoom? What is your price target?

Black Friday Comparison Charts - Tell Us What You Think!

Great job Comparison Charters! -
You didn't do anything wrong. A lot of people just don't want to deal with the crowds and cold on BF, and would rather shop at home. Your local store will probably have what, 1000 people AT MOST through the sale hours? Online it's probably a million or more? At the same time! It's not easy!

The 60D is a mid level DSLR, if you are TRULY starting out, I'd look at the T3i, which is more than enough. The 50mm 1.8 lens runs about 100-120 on amazon. It's a GREAT lens for the price. The kit lens they give you is adequate, but I hardly ever use it because it's not... that... useful. It's just very basic. The camera will be on sale later... when the newer DSLRs come out. It doesn't drop that much. The stores usually try to bundle a lens, and I don't like the bundle lenses they offer - they are not that good.

It doesn't seem like it's that great. It's "cheap" meaning the casing feels cheap. On the plus side it uses AA batteries so it's easy to just pop in new batteries, but the battery casing apparently the batteries pop right out when you're changing them - something to be careful about. The flash is manual - you will need to open the flash yourself, it will not automatically pop open. Because it's a cheaper, budget camera, there are definitely compromises made in the image quality also. you might not notice it if you're just taking pictures to post online or make small prints. It is NOT good at night. Probably means it's not good indoors either in poor lighting. It's fine outside. But don't expect to be able to make huge prints and in full size your images won't look spectacular. It's an acceptable budget camera. It's nowhere near DSLR quality. I'd have a hard time recommending it though. Indoor photos aren't going to be good... and you take a lot of photos at night at Disneyworld/Universal... I'd look elsewhere. Read this: http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/olympus_sp_610uz_review/ This is where I pulled a lot of the info about this camera.

Yep! Chase Freedom right now I think is giving 10% or 15% back in rewards at Kohls for a while. Excellent reward. I love the extra incentive times of the year.

I can't find anything about this camera online. I looked on the Nikon site, and it's not there. The closest may be the L100, which is an older camera. It is not pocket sized. But at "50%" off, it might go fast by people swayed by the discount, the amount of optical zoom, and the fact that it's a Nikon (a real camera!)

Just have it delivered, I don't know if in store pickup will be available on BF. Further, BB is an absolute madhouse on BF. Note on picking up items the day before, they probably will not price adjust on BF.
-
Sounds like it'll be below the normal prices, and since it'll be below, they can't advertise it. Maybe 20 bucks off? I was hoping more for a $50 GC...

I miss my old Canon S400/500 sometimes (I had both, one got stolen.) That was such a great camera. My current P&S, which is about 4 years old (not my S95) takes much better pictures indoors than my iPhone, which always comes out shaky. Sigh. My phone does take HD video though, the only true advantage over my current daily P&S. (I don't tote the S95 around on a daily basis.)

Well I'll be driving home at that time, enjoy your webcasting everyone.

A bridge camera would be a good option also - has some manual options, but no one will really have a hissy fit if he shoots in automatic (and frankly, sometimes it's just easier.) Here's one option: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-SX30IS-Digital-Optical-Stabilized/dp/B0041RSPR8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1320970612&sr=8-4 I have this camera: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-S95-Stabilized-3-0-Inch/dp/B003ZSHNGS/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1320970612&sr=8-6 It actually allows you to shoot in true manual - I can set f/stops, shutter speed, but in a compact size. It's a bit difficult to hold effectively (I hate where the flash pops up.) This is also a good option: http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMC-LX5-Digital-Stabilized-3-0-Inch/dp/B003WJR69E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320970829&sr=8-1 You can also look at the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX100V. I don't know much about this one but reading the review on DPR it says the camera operates really slow.

WalMart's policy seems to vary widely from store to store - the best way to go is to ask your local store and see how they are handling it.

The bundle is coupons. Nothing else.
