I was thinking of that, but typically the jewelers who do custom work around here cost $$$. I'm going to check it as an option and find out if I can afford it. If not, I may just order from bluenile and get them modified.

Thanks. I looked and the smallest they have set in platinum is 1/2 carat, which is just a wee bit too much bling for a one year old, lol. I compared sizes in person at the mall last night with her starter studs and 1/3ctw is the largest that would really be appropriate. I found some that are decent and meet most of my criteria at bluenile.com, but I'm not sure about their reputation and also, I need to find out if the adult screwbacks can be simply cut off and rounded to modify them for a child. If that's the case, I can possibly find some online and take them to a local jeweler for a slight modification if it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to file them down. Last night I went to Zales, Hannoush, Michael's, and another store in the mall just to get some ideas. The closest I came to what I wanted was at Michaels. They had Princess cut .23 H/I I2, but they were set in white gold and they still wanted $329 + $65 to change them to screwbacks. Bluenile has Princess cut .23 H VS2 set in platinum with (adult) screwbacks for $325. That would be right about on target for what I'd like to get and what I'd like to spend, but I'm hesitant because I don't know if they will work for such a tiny girlie. The only "baby" ones I can find are round diamonds set in gold for $199.

Addie's first birthday is coming up on St. Patrick's Day and yesterday I figured out what I'd like to get her. This thread, unfortunately, is more of a request to even *find* that particular something, rather than find a deal. I'd be happy to find them at all! I would like to get her .25CTW Princess cut diamond earrings (about 12 points each or so, but possibly as large as 17). I would like them to be near-colorless (G,H,I) or better and preferably SI or better, but possibly I1 (gotta think of budget here). They need to be set in platinum (hypo-allergenic) and I want them to have the short screwbacks (baby/child screwbacks). Any possibility I will find these without having them custom made for a small fortune???

what do i get a 1 year old who has everything?
Kayakmom replied to ginger19's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
When ds10 turned one I got him a little motorcycle that sat on the rocking base that you could detach when he got old enough. I can't remember for sure, but I think it was Little Tykes. He sure loved that thing!!! My kids have so much, too. I barely want to buy them anything for Christmas because I don't want more "stuff" in my house. My daughter will be turning one in March and I have no idea what to get her. She has one wicker laundry basket of toys and that's more than enough to keep her entertained. I've realized with the little ones that less is more. If the parents love to get him everything, maybe they'd like some things from Gymboree or Baby Gap? If you're not sure about sizes or preferred styles, it would be really nice to put a gift receipt and let them know that you don't mind at all if they take them in for whatever they'd like or will get the most use because you just wanted him to have something to open. When it comes down to it, I think I like the savings bond and small toy to open idea. -
My son is 5 and just signed up this week for his first year. He's so excited! Cleats are optional at his age, but he wants them so if I can get them for a reasonable price, he'll have them. He's still in a size 13 or sometimes 1. I'll post back if I see any good bargains. When do you need them by? I have a feeling that Sports Authority, Dicks, and those type of stores will start having a lot of spring sports items on sale soon. I hadn't thought about the outlet, but that's a great idea if you have one nearby. I think our closest Nike outlet is about 2.5 hours away.

Extra Small Warm Winter Coats
Kayakmom replied to mywarmbluefleece's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
The North Face makes women's coats in size extra small. You might want to check REI, Campmor, Sierra Trading Post, and Eastern Mountain Sports. Also, Patagonia, Mountain Hardwear, or Marmot may make XS in ladies. Most of those places I mentioned are having some good sales right now. Also, look for coupon codes for Sierra Trading Post or REI if you go with either of those options. (OK, I admit that we have a slight bit of a coat problem around here. ) -
I just checked and mine says that check has been printed/mailed. Last I checked was the middle of last week, so it will probably show up sometime this coming week.

I had to go out and buy Addie a few board books and Santa brought her a cloth Winnie the Pooh book from Amazon. Even after having 2 kids and hundreds of books, the board books are usually in shortage because they get eaten and ripped. Do you have a TJ Maxx or Marshalls near you? I got gorgeous brand name outfits for about $15. Robeez are the bomb and cost about $26. It's too bad you don't know the gender of the third, because buying three pairs on their website gets free shipping. I don't know any mom that's used them that doesn't like them. They're great! I like the diaper idea too, but I only use Pampers. I've been using Huggies lately because my mom bought them for Addie and she's had bad diaper rash. I can't say for certain that's the cause, but I'm going to switch back to Pampers starting tomorrow and see if it helps any. The diaper rash cream is a great idea. I like Desitin Creamy, but I'd probably try any one that people gave me. I never needed it until Addie went on formula after she was 6 months old. None of my kids ever got diaper rash when breastfeeding. That mess (among many others) all came when the formula started. I also like the idea about something for the moms and I'm still pretty gung ho on the idea of a gift certificate for some take-out for mom and dad. No one wants to cook after the baby comes! There are just those days when you don't have the time. If baby's fussing and it's time to cook dinner, baby always comes first. If all else fails, you could get them each a $30 gift certificate to Target or something. My neighbor gave us a $50 Target gift certificate and I thought it was SOOOO generous. I needed only a crib mattress at that point and I was able to buy the top of the line one they had for $79 and it didn't cost much out of my pocket. I was very happy about that. No matter how much stuff you have, there's always more things you need or want for the baby. I could go on with ideas for babies all night, lol. My house is totally in baby mode right now and is going to be that way for quite some time since we're expecting again in June.

We went the week after Thanksgiving and rented DVC vacation points to stay at Villas at Old Key West. We had a 2BR and it was great. I was suspect of the transportation at first, but we didn't end up using our car the whole time we were there. It was great and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. The room rates for what we had are $540 a night, but we got it for $240 a night. We also got all of the 10 and 20% discounts and other benefits of being a member. Even though we were just there, I'd love to go back again. Maybe I'll tell hubby to return to work after I have the new baby so that we have some Disney vacation time again this year! I'm very tempted.

I haven't tried Luvs since ds10 was a baby, but for $6 off per box, I think I'll give them another shot. I have one in size 3's, maybe soon to be size 4's, and another on the way in June. It's time to start stockpiling again! I'm just now finishing up my previous stock. I have only had to buy diapers about twice since she's been born and she's 10 months old today. I bought them all when I was pregnant, lol. I think I'll do the same this time around. I already have some smaller ones saved that she didn't finish up that I had planned to give away but can now recycle in-house!

What is your budget for each? Do you know the genders? I just bought some awesome Gymboree and Baby Gap items NWT on ebay for very cheap! I got an outift that retailed $60.50 for $5.60, among many other deals. How about a gift certificate for a decent take-out restaurant? New babies and cooking every night just don't seem to always work out. Maybe you could check out restaurant.com and see if there's anything local on there. Robeez are the bomb, but depending on your budget that might not work. They are around $28. I'll check back to see how much you want to spend and I can leave you an entire list of ideas if you want, lol. Did these people have baby showers? If yes, then people usually just bring an outfit when they visit a new baby.

Great gift Idea for kids! cost ~ $10
Kayakmom replied to ashemgra's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
These are great! I've never seen them before, but I think I'll have to get me one, lol. Ok, ok, I'll wait and get them for the kids for Valentine's Day and then I'll play with them. -
Crocs shoes- I need a great deal
Kayakmom replied to davephillyj's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
There was a coupon for shoebuy.com. I'm not sure if it still works, but it can't hurt to check them out. There were a bunch of people buying them there. I tried using their coupon for Merrell's for my son but that brand was not allowed - Crocs were allowed. Just checked and apparently you can get 10% off your first purchase for registering and another 10% off with code shoebuy. Expires 1/31/07. Code ENTERTAIN05 is for 15% but expires tomorrow 12/31/06. Code CHEER2006 for 30% off expires 12/31/06. I haven't checked these codes (just found them for you) but it can't hurt to try. They charge $34.45 for the Crocs, but it's free shipping and no tax and with the discounts, should yield you a better price. Oh, not sure if it expired, but there was a code 1HOLIDAY06 and 2HOLIDAY06. Might want to try those. I think they gave $10 off per pair. -

Costo returns, do you need a reciept?
Kayakmom replied to Pliablemoose's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Did you order it online? I returned something I purchased online with a printout from the website. -
I would remind him that you have photos and EXPECT full price toward new pajamas of a comparable full price. They have a liability issue here. This should not be treated as a normal exchange. Your daughter was injured by a defective product and they're lucky you only want some new pj's and are not handing them a doctor bill or a bill for the medication you used to treat it. You should be able to pick out any pajamas that you want from the store. I would expect nothing less. It sounds like the manager is willing to rectify this situation, so be sure to go to the store when he's on duty.
-
There's no getting out of it for them, then. These are clearly defective since more people also experienced this problem. It's not like one pair was made wrong. Whoever has them should definitely contact corporate. I wonder how they handle something like this. Bulletin to the stores, maybe? I would post a thread with the product in the title or modify this title. Maybe more people who had the problem will notice it.

That is terrible! I have a 9 month old and her sleeve openings are often bigger than that, if not elastic. That is crazy! If you could find out if whoever purchased them used a credit card, that would probably be handy because then you could prove that they were purchased there. I would think, however, that the labeling would identify them as a Target item. I'm so sorry your daughter had to go through that. Kids do the craziest things sometimes. I hope her wrist is feeling better. I can't wait to hear what corporate has to say about this. I would think that they'd want to appease you very quickly for fear of a lawsuit in today's sue happy society. You could also contact the Better Business Bureau to put it on record.

Gloey, my friend got her daughter the Disney Pix Max 3 camera and it takes really cute pictures. http://disneyshopping.go.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/DSIProductDisplay?catalogId=10002&storeId=10051&productId=1200278&langId=-1&categoryId=14636

This place has 2" rubber ducks for $2.00/dozen. They're small, but would probably serve the purpose at a very inexpensive price. I am going to bookmark this site! We can probably find a ton of cool stuff for Cub Scouts on there. I've never seen it before.

Tampa, FL Trip Advice/Questions
Kayakmom replied to DezaRay24's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Last year we took a little side trip to Clearwater Beach from my mom's house (she lives about an hour north) and stayed for 4 days right near Pier 60. It was awesome! The beach was the bomb, hubby and I enjoyed the little street bars and singers, and Sunset at Pier 60 was very neat. My kids still talk about the Tricky Dog Show and the fire eating man and the silver lady (mime). It was really a good time. Other than that, they've liked The Florida Aquarium and Lowry Park Zoo. It's a really neat zoo and have kids wear bathing suits because they have all these neat spouty things coming out of the ground to get wet and there are spray things in the kid section. There are also a couple of tame rides. My older son (10) enjoys them, but he prefers stuff like Tower of Terror or Rockin Rollercoaster at Disney, lol. MOSI has been on our "to do" list for a while, but we haven't made it there yet. We did see a MOSI guy doing a really cool show at my mom's local library. Busch Gardens and Islands of Adventure are right in Tampa, too. There are really plenty of choices. Oh yeah. St. Pete airport is very chill and laid back compared to Tampa where you have to take this whole tram/shuttle thing to get back to the main airport part and all that. St. Pete is a walk in/walk out sort of little place with an island kind of feel. Tampa has the "metropolis" kind of feel, I think. I must say that I loved Clearwater Beach and I would go back there with my hubby again in a heartbeat. It was one of the nicest times we've ever had. (Of course it helped to have grandma (my mom) with an adjoining room so she could keep an eye on the kids and we could go out whenever we wanted, lol.) -
Amazon.com has 'best ever' sales in 2006
Kayakmom replied to bigjimslade's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
I'm just trying to figure out what to do with all of these giant Amazon boxes until recycling day next week. Ds5 asked hubby today, "Daddy, where did you get all of these air bags that are in your room?" DH had to think quickly and said, "From the other room." I guess ds5 bought it, lol.
