  1. The code above does not work but HAPPYHOLIDAY does. Don't put the "s" on the end and it works fine but it did take off my EXTRA10 when it took the $5 off.
  2. Home Depot has pretty nifty dimmer switches with remotes. They're great! Our only trouble is who has the remote, lol. I hate when hubby falls asleep with it on his nightstand and I have to climb on him to get it. Other than that, it's perfect. I think it cost around $40, but oh so worth it! No more nights of sleeping with the light on because no one will get up.
  3. It's probably supposed to be www.clarkcolor.com
  4. You might want to think about exchanging it for a regular cheapo digital camera. I was going to get one for my kids until I realized that they got really bad reviews. The picture quality is supposed to be terrible on them. Good luck with the exchange!
  5. Keep messing with it and it will come off. I wish ds10 was here, because he could tell you in a flash how to do it. The first time he got one I was messing with it and couldn't get it off. Of course, the youngster came over and immediately got it taken care of, lol. I think, if I recall correctly, that it feels like you're going to break it when removing it but it doesn't break. If I talk to ds from his dad's today I'll ask for more specific instructions for you.
  6. I woke up about 5 times during the night, lol. I finally got up at 5:30 and had everyone else up by 5:45.
  7. We opted for the slow-paced, stay at home Christmas this year for the first time and we loved it! While it's nice to see family, it's really nice to have time to stay and enjoy your own family. I made lasagna on Saturday night and just had to heat it up and bake a pie from the orchard (gift). It was soooo nice! We got up about 5:45am and took our time to do presents for a couple of hours. My 10 year old came back from his dad's at 10am and had plenty of time to open his stuff and enjoy it. Normally he comes in and has to be rushed out to a dinner. He really enjoyed the time to play with his PSP from his dad's and his laptop here. My hubby says that he's going to be just like me now. He had that laptop open and in front of his face almost the entire day, lol. My 5 year old loved having the time to play with all of his new toys. In fact, he still didn't even open his Roboreptile yet, but we'll probably get to that today. I think we are going to make it a tradition to stay home. My mom lives 1200 miles away but we talked to her a few times on the phone throughout the day and hubby's mom is a nurse and had to work but called in the morning. Although we are all developing a cold, I wouldn't say that's why we were lounging around all afternoon. I'd say we were enjoying the rare opportunity to just hang out together that we seldom get any more. Hubby is absolutely loving the 4 days off. He'll have to work 3 days this week and then have 3 more off. He's going to dread going back to his normal schedule!
  8. Just a reminder to keep the lid on! If a neighborhood kitty decides to use the sandbox as a catbox, you'll be replacing all of that sand. It's a serious health hazard for the kids to play where an animal has pooped. Believe me, it's no fun dumping the whole thing and replacing it all. After a while I started just putting in 1 or 2 bags at a time so that it could be easily replaced. I'd rather have them play in a little less sand that's fresh.
  9. My hubby is notorious for this so I had him call me from the grocery store and walked him through each item. They were out of the Lipton Veggie Soup Mix and he would have just walked on, but I talked him through it and he came home with the Knorr brand, lol.
  10. Does this apply if we're at WalMart at 4am and don't know if we're getting a good bargain?
  11. I started really seriously online shopping last year when I found this site. This year I bought very few things in person. Amazon deals posted here made up most of my Christmas shopping, lol. I have no idea how much I've saved, but it's a lot. Actually, I probably spent just as much but got a lot more for my money. Normally there's no way my kids would get things like a Roboreptile as an "extra".
  12. Yes, but they take back anything at any time with the exception of computers, which have a 6 month return policy. I can return something from there 5 years later and they will take it back. My uncle returned open software and they gave him his money back no questions asked. I was shocked that they did that because I've never encountered a place with such a liberal policy. It was shortly after that when I decided to get a membership.
  13. I had a stroller/car seat combo for ds5 and I again bought Graco for dd 9 months. She has the pink car seat and pink stroller that match. I didn't go with that pack n play because it's much smaller than average. As far as carseats, would have to agree that you need to choose one that fits well in your car. I would choose the best rated one that you can possibly afford and if you call AAA, they can set you up for an appointment for them to check/properly install the seat. I'd have this done two weeks before your due date, so you need to call soon! Most hospitals won't let you leave without one. We have a 7 passenger Trailblazer and I didn't realize that the infant seat would be a problem until we got it home and tried to move the seat into it. She has to sit on the passenger side door in the middle row because of the big hump in the middle of the seat and has to use some of those pool tube things to keep the seat level. I've had two kids and never went through this much stress with my other cars! DH gets paid on the 29th, so I'll plan to hit Target that weekend!
  14. That is wonderful! I buy a lot from The North Face because I know that they handle their customer service in a very similar manner. To me, it's worth paying a few more dollars up front to feel secure in the fact that they will do everything within their power to make you happy. I sure hope one of those packages gets there tomorrow. If it's FedEx's screwup and they know it, I think they would still even bring it on Saturday or Sunday if it didn't get there tomorrow for some reason. Just be sure to stay on top of them!
  15. Yesterday I had to get baby formula, trash bags, baby laundry detergent, diswasher detergent, and peanut butter and it cost $73. I hate having to buy that stuff. I need to get hamburger meat on Saturday. I wanted to have that fresh. I can always send hubby to the store for that since I don't eat meat and I'll guilt him into it since he and ds10 want the lasagna, lol.
  16. I made double batches of dough last night for chocolate chip and chocolate chip with walnuts. In a few minutes I'm going to make some peanut butter dough (for the kisses cookies) and probably some oatmeal. After that, I may just make some 7 Layer Bars and call it quits. It's getting a little last minute here! I normally bake as I go along, but since I'm so late and I have to have bags tomorrow morning for the bus drivers, teachers, and hubby's boss, I figured I'd just make the dough and cook a tray or two of each to get those gift cookies out and worry about the rest tomorrow sometime. Normally my cookies are done and in the freezer waiting by now. I'm really behind this year!
  17. For my marketing class I had to pick one thing that I would change if I was marketing queen. I said that I would do away with requirements for mail in rebates and make any/all rebates available online! I'm right there with those who hate mail in rebates! The only rebates I don't mind are Staples Easy Rebates. I really try to avoid all others, as they never get mailed or somehow don't end up arriving anyway!
  18. Still no POC2 yet.
  19. I absolutely disagree. I maintain a Costco membership and make many of my more important purchases there simply BECAUSE of their outstanding return policy. In the XBox360 thread someone said that they bought their game system there for the same exact reason. I'd hardly call it stupid. Some people like a company that stands behind the products it sells. It is also for that same reason that I never have and never would make a registry at Target and recommend that my friends follow suit. At stores like WalMart and Target I basically only buy things like paper goods and cleaning supplies that I would never return anyway. It does not hurt the majority of the sales, but you can bet they see a hit from it. On the other hand, they don't have the losses to write off. It's all based on the type of clientele that shops at the store, really. Costco obviously hasn't suffered for their liberal return policy.
  20. At least he's learning some Photoshop skills, lol. I wish I had more time to play with that program. That money looks great and I'd love to do it for my kids. When ds10 was little I made some myself that were "Danny Dollars" and he could earn them for things and redeem them. I may just start doing that again. Thanks for the links.
  21. Mmmmm....my favorite! No one else here eats it, but I usually make one and eat almost the whole thing once or twice a year, lol. I love it with the marble boule bread. Sometimes I also serve it with Fritos scoops for extra dipping. The bread doesn't go as far if you really hollow it out well. I think I'll make myself one of these next week. Great thread! I think I will make one of these trays for New Years and make my life simple. BJ's has GREAT prices on lunch meat and cheese. Land O Lakes American is only $2.99/lb there vs. $5.99/lb at the grocery store. :)
  22. I called in and talked to a rep and she was very nice. She said it should have been here on 12/19 (yesterday). She said that if I don't receive it by 12/26, they will send me a new one. I told her that if I don't get it by Saturday, I will go buy a new one at the store. She said that is fine and if it comes on Monday, call and they will send me a prepaid mailer and refund the full amount when they receive it back. If I don't receive it by Monday, they will just issue a refund. At least the rep was nice about it. My son really wants to see this movie!
  23. Has anyone gotten their Pirates of the Carribean ordered on 12/5? It's been over 2 weeks now. I had no idea it would take this long. I've almost entirely done my shopping online this year and this is the ONLY thing that has not arrived. Everything else is here or "out for delivery" today. I hope it gets here before Christmas.
  24. At age 10 he goes to Cub Scout camp and they use recurves and definitely always arm guards. That's the best piece of advice here. (Well, except when a couple of kids get poison ivy and then almost all 150ish kids have poison ivy before you realize it's being spread by the arm guards.) The bows they use at Scout camp cost around $160, but that's really not necessary to get started. If he remains interested, you can look to that for the future and I'd be happy to provide the name of the supplier that our Council uses. For now, it would be overkill. I think he'd be fine to start with an inexpensive bow, although archery instructors will say differently. As long as he's being safe and having fun, that's what really matters!
  25. We bought my son one of the eMachines from WalMart about 3 years ago and it's still going strong. In fact, it's held up better than all of our much more expensive machines. He doesn't really work it hard like we do, but enjoys using it. It's now in the kitchen and I use it for general purpose/easy access and my hubby also plays Oblivion and other games on it after upgrading to dvd and adding more memory. For a kid, I would definitely buy another one like that.
