Not always true .. most reputable companies do rent for so many months and then it's yours. We were able to rent "used" instruments for which were cheaper than brand new instruments.

The thing to remember that if they toy is for younger children it will more than likely have some type of volume safety feature on it so that it can't be turned up too loud. Are you willing to hear your doctor tell you that your child has a mild hearing loss because they have listened to too loud music thru headphones? Don't mean to be a downer .. but that is the reality of the situation. Unless you will be with your child every time they use a product for an adult, you will not be able to control how loud they turn the volume up.

If they are able to go shopping but choose not too .. I usually tell them yeah .. I'll get what you want .. then after all MY shopping is complete I'll look for their stuff. I normally don't end up getting them anything on their list tho .. that's too bad for them - huh?

See if it will let you choose the "pickup at store" option instead of delivery. Which is free btw since the item is over $50.00.

You can't compare the price of S2 against the price of S1 because S1 is a shortened season. With the show being so highly rated, I think you got a good deal and can't see it coming down in price any time soon.

The thing that I would worry about is about the warranty. Yes it says it comes with a warranty, but can you get it repaired locally? If you have to ship the item to another state for repair that will become quite costly. How long will the repairs normally take and what would she use while the instrument is being repaired? Renting the instrument normally gives you free repairs plus a loaner instrument while yours is being fixed. We rent my youngests trumpet and we get free repairs. In the 1 1/2 years since we've had it, it's had to be repaired twice. I just bought a baritone sax for my oldest daughter locally because of the repair issue. I bought a separate warranty for extended repairs and since June, the instrument has been taken in 3 times .. Just something else practical to think about. And when she gets to high school, she'll probably want to change instruments again - mine did - lol

Get the Raffi Christmas CD .... if you have a karoake machine, you can get some good Christmas cds for singalongs.

Have you tried to return anything at Target? It's just like TRU at my Target.

Our outlet mall had midnite madness .. it was packed .. every single parking place was taken .. people were parking on the side of the interstate ... waiting time to check out averaged close to an hour .. This was the 3rd year they had done it .. and the retailers that were opened considered it a huge hit .. Only downside was I couldn't camp out at BestBuy ..

I usually slide in the line that they have at the Electronics Dept. Last year I was in and out of TRU in 15 minutes!
