I had bought my husband the Tom Tom One 3rd edition for Christmas, but because of our unexpected sudden trip to Canada he got it early. I have to say that I had a lot of fun using this unit. I dropped my husband off at work on Friday and the kids and I just traveled the roads in Canada. We found our way to quaint downtowns and of course had to make a stop at Lake Erie. Without this unit along I'm quite certain that we would have stayed within a small radius of where we dropped him off at so that we wouldn't get lost, but with the Tom Tom in hand I was able to actually do some sightseeing. The POI attribute was really very nice, we didn't need addresses of where we were going, we could look it up by city and name or we could look it up by type of POI we were interested in. I have to say that my husband is very pleased with his little present. I wish that I would have bought 2 so that we could have an extra one in our car permanently and he could take one when he travels. Maybe next year. Thanks for the research Marcster!

This is what I paid for it at Staples B&M this week. It's a personal preference whether it's worth waiting in line for to say on Black Friday at Staples. Otherwise, it's not a bad price considering regular price is $249, IMHO.

I just bought mine today for that price too! The price on the shelf says $249 but if you scan it, it comes up $149. I need to concentrate on an LCD tv if I go out this year so I went ahead and bought mine today. Good deal considering I don't have to wait in the snowy cold to get it, plus I can worry about the TV elsewhere now.

OK, I don't know anything about these gadgets, but based on recommendations I think I will get my husband the Tom Tom One - 3rd edition. The thing is, he travels every week, every week he is somewhere new so this "gadget" will never be in the same car - is that a problem? Should I get him a hand held one instead? Yes, my store was absolutely crazy on Saturday. I lucked out by going on Friday, I picked out everything I wanted and they held it for me to pick up on Saturday. I had to wait in line for 45 minutes but it was certainly worth it. I love that store and I'm so glad they had this sale, I'll have to check out how bare it is this week. Tuesday is mark down day so if they only have 1 or 2 of an item left it usually goes to mark down. So I'll definitely have to check that out.
