  1. I used to work in an old storefront that my company was renting until new office space was available. They converted the store into cubicles and when I'd get there at 7am some mornings in the winter (when it seems like the sun doesn't come up until after noon) it was definitely very dark and creepy. Of course the mall wasn't even open yet, so I get that!
  2. I've had a few items get canceled on me, but it was usually ordering the popular items that sell out quickly and waiting until Monday night or Tuesday to order. If you order Sunday night, most things will have at least shipped by BF and then if anything got canceled on you, you can always go in-store to buy it if you still wanted it that bad (and use your $10 off $10 purchase card ). I also remember that some people were able to do in-store pickup for the BF prices. I'm not sure if they've since caught on to that, or if it was intentionally allowed.
  3. Oh, I can imagine the steam boiling up when they told you they didn't have the TVs.....and then flurry of mixed emotions when they told you you'd get a rain check to get it: "I waited this whole time and don't get it today""At least I get one""Hmmmm, will it actually come in?""How was it not here in time; it's not like Black Friday just snuck up on you?""Well, at least now I get to go to other stores"
  4. 4 minutes to get everyone connected, check the audio, open up the chat....and then 1 minute to talk about the ad. Yeah, that's about right.
  5. You could still be going to TRU for Cabbage Patch, or Furbie... Or to Joann for fabrics. It's not always the electronics; though, often times yes.
  6. It's still pretty early to be talking webcasts; even talking about updates on webcasts
  7. Were you ever the first one in line? How long were you standing there? How was the weather? Was it worth it? About 5 or 6 years ago, I was first in line for Michaels on Saturday morning (additional sales/coupons). There were a dozen or so cars already in the parking lot and all just staying warm in their cars (certainly Michael's isn't known for hard code BF shoppers - now, Joann has the fabric sale so you need to be on your toes there...). It was about 30 minutes before opening and I've stood outside in much colder for much longer, so what's 30 minutes to me. I went to the door and about 10 minutes late a few others started to join me. I sort of felt a little bad that I "jumped" them, but there was no discernible method to know who got there before/after who when it actually came time to get out of the cars. Now, I know many of you have more interesting stories than that, so let's hear!
  8. If you post it, they will count. Don't sell, Ray. Don't sell.
  9. I agree on the beanie!! Us Wisconsin folk need all the winter headgear we can get.
  10. We really really really want to get that set; I'm not sure we are ready to spend that much money. DD6 & DD5 still love "playing with the legos" and pieces get lost way too easily. Plus, it's pretty much sold out everywhere. Is it as awesome as you thought it'd be? We went to LEGO kids fest in Milwaukee last weekend and they had a blast and still working on their ~400-piece sets right now.
  11. But probably either the 6th or 9th-11th around election day; I'm guessing more after the election.
  12. Yup, that's exactly where I went. Got the 75G at 50% 2 years ago. Usually you can find someone with a vehicle when you're not in a time crunch and can pick it up the next day, or even over the weekend. We'll see (probably still 3 weeks away) when the PetSmart ad comes out.
  13. Chapsticks, lottery tickets, candy, socks.
  14. Not sure the details on this "giant aquarium", but I ordered mine from Petsmart online 2 years ago and picked it up in store the next day. I think you even get an extra % off for ordering online and picking up in store, too.
  15. I'm sure the Thursday openings hurt that; it does for many people. However, it's also a factor of the technology world we're living in. Everything is about electronics. Even when it is about kids toys, those are also electronics. Also, so many things are online and make it not even worth going out on Thursday or Friday. Traditions are certainly disrupted and it's a matter of what you need/want and where it will be in store/online.
  16. I am in search of a lower end laptop for my nephew. No touch screen, no gaming, and still with a DVD drive. I'll have to see what comes out in the ads and go from there; as well as keep an eye out for sales through BF.
  17. Mostly just make sure you have a plan for where all your stores are and the best way to get to them (saved in your phone for GPS, etc.).
  18. I miss Comp USA! They were always good. I miss Circuit City; that's where I got my first TV on BF 11 years ago (so really just for the nostalgia). I miss it being easy to get the snow globes at JC Penney. They changed it that you have to come at a certain time, and then did away with them entirely..
  19. I haven't really looked into what I might be looking for yet on Amazon. I usually just browse the deals and see what comes up.
  20. We got one about 10 years ago and and have added various attachments (dough hook, pasta maker, ice cream, and we were just talking about one the other day.....oh, the deli slicer - I'm not so sure how that would work...) over the years and love it! It's well worth the investment when you can get a good sale on it. We probably only use it a few times a month, but it's still going strong!
  21. I haven't experienced HF but once on BF and it was semi-busy but I think they had a bigger ad back then. There's really not much in here that blows you away in terms of price. Honestly, the welder price is $87.99 right now (only $3 more than the BF advertised price), so if you want to save yourself some hassle and worry that it'll be gone I'd go ahead and buy it now. Here's the link
  22. No question is ever a stupid question. Those codes will only be good online. Often, closer to the BF week, there will be in-store coupons usually of the same discount that you'll be able to use. Plus, you'll likely get a mailer from them the week before that has additional discount cards, etc. that you can use in store. See below for additional info... Yes, they did. The big advantage to Kohl's online. You can start shopping their BF sales on Sunday night and use all the coupon codes and often get your stuff by Wednesday....before Black Thursday, even! The only think you won't get are the limited quantity doorbusters (e.g. XBOX game systems, TVs, etc.) and the typical $10 off $10 purchase card (explicitly states "in-store only") you'll get in the mail with the other coupons the week before. Otherwise, Kohl's.com is your friend on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday of BF week. You get all the same mail-in rebates, Kohl's Cash, etc. without having to wait in line to check out.....oh, those dreadful Kohl's checkout lines.
  23. ...Which may also be in store tonight. Temperatures forecasted to drop below freezing, but I doubt we'll end up with any precipitation as it's moving out this afternoon.
  24. So many puns and it's not even November, yet... Gonna be a fun season!
  25. Without looking at last year's ad (which I'll do later this morning), it feels like almost the same ol' story with HF. But, at least it's an ad! Now, let the flood gates open for the rest!
