  1. Mine would have to be the Playskool Rose Petal Cottage. I got it at Toysrus at a huge discount. It was a blessing bc my daughter wanted a playhouse and we could not afford a $200 or $300 house so we had been looking at these. The Rose Petal Cottages were regular around 100 i think. I got it for like 25 and bought the sink and washer for 9.00 each and they regularly about $25-30 each. So I was able to buy all of it for around 50 tax and all. I think I saved around 150.00.
  2. Are there any electronic learning toys that anyone thinks will hot this year? I know this will probably not be a hot toy, but has anyone got the tag reader or bugsby reader? Do you think they may have a good deal on the BF? I finally saw the Zoobles at our local Walmart yesterday and they are ok. I guess I can see why younger kids might want them. My almost 4 year old daughter saw them and said "I want that" but of course she wants everything she sees. I doubt we will get any.
  3. Sounds like fun! I wish we could go on vacation that weekend..lol.
  4. Our line is always long too since that is all we have in our small town. The bad thing is that we can't even price match because the nearest target is about 45 minutes away (40 miles) and the nearest Kmart is over 50 miles away and the nearest TRU is about an hour and half. So we can only get what they have on sale.
  5. Mine was Walmart and TRU. Since all we have nearby is a Walmart, we always go there first. Then we head an hour and half away to do some more shopping. So usually by the time we get to Target or Kmart most of the big stuff is gone. At Walmart I was able to get several things on my daughter's list as well as TRU. At TRU I was able to get the Playskool Rose Petal Cottage, sink, and washer at 75% off. So, that was her "big" present.
  6. I have seen an idea somewhere before where you take a 2 Liter bottle and fill it w/things from the Dollar Store. I know the dollar stores around here have a lot of very useful things. They usually have candles and cute glasses and stuff like that. You could also look in the ABC Catalog they usually have some very cute stuff in there or Oriental Trade. My boys are in 7th grade and they have 5 teachers and PE (there are 2 or 3 coachers in PE). So I don't know if we will be able to do anything or not for the teachers. One of the boys teachers is expecting so I am thinking about getting something for the baby for her.
  7. That is just too funny!
  8. I was just wondering what is your routine for Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Mine changed some last year since our local Walmart opened at midnight BF. My Thanksgiving prep actually starts the Wed. before. I get up and fix anything I can fix a day early. I get up early and get Thanksgiving Dinner going. My husband's family comes to our house so I have a lot of cooking to do. Then if Kmart or anywhere has anything I am interested in, then I drive an hour away to go get the item/items I want. (All we have in our town is Walmart). Then I come back home and finish cooking. While cooking I am looking at my ads and making last minute adjustments. We eat around 5:00 p.m. Then family leaves and I make sure kids get bath. Then go over ads one last time. Then go to bed. Get up at 2 Black Friday and head to Walmart. Then after we are finished there, my best friend and I head an hour and half away to do some serious shopping. We usually hit Target and TRU first. Then Old Navy and wherever else we can think of. We get home around 5 or 6 that night. Last year my best friend came (w/her kiddos so my hubby could babysit) to my house and we left my house around 11:50. We went to Walmart and then scoped everything out to see where it was. We also grabbed anything we could that was not a doorbuster or that they would let us... The rest of the day pretty much went the same.
  9. I would wear a Gottadeal BF shirt gladly. I am sure it would make so many people jealous!!
  10. Probably on Ebay. I know they are cheaper on ebay, not sure if they are the right thing or not so this might be an option for you.
  11. I have seen them on Ebay a little cheaper, but I don't know that I would trust buying them on there. You never know it might not be the real "pillow pets". I have seen them around 7.00 plus 6.00 shipping but they would only take a check. So I don't think it is worth saving those few dollars.
  12. I know! I surely hope that they are better than Christmas in July prices...lol. I know that I will find something for my daughter who will be 4 in October. She is happy w/pretty much anything. As for the bigger electronic items, I think I may buy some of them in Walmart's secret sales if they have them this year.
  13. My best friend and I have been going since our boys were probably around 3, so about 9 years. I had twins so it was nearly impossible for me to go before then. I can remember one of them with me one year when they were about 5. They are 12 now, so I can't get away with that anymore without them seeing what I am buying them. My best friend and I have went all 9 of those years together, except for 1 and that was because her kids were sick. We just decided to go try to save a little money and now it has turned into something we plan for months to do. We look forward to Black Friday every year.
  14. Me too. I hope to actually have the money to get one this year when they put them on sale. I hope they do the secret Saturday sales again. My boys want an Xbox 360 this year so I am hoping to find a good deal on one of those also.
  15. ok thank you.
  16. I know that Toysrus has layaway for larger items, but does anyone know if they will let you put things on layaway Black Friday? I hope they do because this would be very helpful to me since I go shopping with my best friend and I usually don't have any room for any bigger items. Also it would be a good way for me to keep it hidden.:)
  17. Yeah my daughter wants a pillow pet too. She has wanted one since she the first time she saw the computer.
  18. I had never heard of them. They look neat though and I'm sure that my dd4 will want them..lol. I looked at the walmart web site and it says coming soon. so I might have to keep a check there to see if i can get a pack.
  19. Yeah I know what you mean. My boys are at that age that everything they want is expensive...lol. The Nintendo 3DS does look neat. When is it supposed to be out? Are the Fushigi balls those that float in air?
  20. I believe that we will see a drop on HDTVs. I am hoping to find one for around 150.00. Since last BF some stores had I believe the 32" for around 250 this may be a possibility. I also believe that laptops will hold steady with other Black Fridays, but it is possible that there may be a basic lower specs laptop for 150.00. I also think that you will see a good deal on video game systems again. Deals like the xbox 360 at walmart last year. It was 199 i believe w/a 100 gift card. This may have been one of the presales, not sure. I think that it will be harder to get what you want online this year. I think that the retailers will offer the same or better deal than in stores, but since buying online is becoming so popular I think it will be hard to get some of the better deals.
  21. Did you recover easily from your first ceasection. I would not have had any trouble if it had not gotten infected. My daughter was also born in October but she was born early in the month on the 10th. But my recovery was long because it did get infected and also when they gave me my epidural it hit a nerve and it messed up the feeling in my feet for a while. I was able to go BF shopping but I only went to Walmart bc it is our only local store, everything else is at least 1 1/2 hours away. Good luck and I hope you have a speedy recovery.
  22. I am hoping they have the laptop for about 200. Less would be great. Yeah my list will grow also, but they will have to tell me the top things they want.
  23. I am just curious of what everyone is hoping to find this Black Friday. I would also like to know what you think will be a big hit. I know I am hoping to find a good deal on electronics. My DH is thinking about getting a new laptop for himself. My twin boys are wanting a new TV and Xbox 360. I am also thinking about getting my DD4 a Nintendo DS Lite, but it would have to be a very good price. I would also like to get my boys a stereo. Then of course there are always the little stuff for my daughter, boys have about outgrown the little stuff.
  24. I have made a list of everyone that we need to buy something for and a tentative budget. I wish I had saved some over the year, but just didn't have any extra to put away. It has been a hard year. So we will buy for our kids first and then what we have left we will split between everyone else. I already have my mother in law's and one gift for my niece. I really hope next year I can start putting up money in January. My husband and I are both in school and we always have money left from our pell grant so we will use about half of that for Christmas so that will help. As long as my husband has work we should be able to meet our budget.
