  1. Half Price Books-10/12
  2. I don't think you will regret that decision. Kids mature so fast now. Encourage him to be a child as long as possible. What does he like? My DS loved those Playmobil sets at that age. He had the complete Viking and Pirate set. Heres a link for the pirate ship http://www.toysrus.com/product/prodpop.jsp?LargeImageURL=http%3A//TRUS.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pTRU1-5419448dt.jpg&displayTab=enh&productId=3368229&totCount=0 along with the adventure island http://www.toysrus.com/product/prodpop.jsp?LargeImageURL=http%3A//TRUS.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pTRU1-11216146dt.jpg&displayTab=enh&productId=12113410&totCount=0. ToysRus has a ton of Pirates stuff. Here is a link to more http://www.toysrus.com/search/index.jsp?sr=1&f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2254197&kw=playmobile+pirates&origkw=playmobile+pirates&kwCatId=&pg=1 He played for hours with these sets. They are available in many different sets, but DS just loved the pirates for some reason. Its perfect for a boy. I actually reboxed them once he outgrew it and kept it.
  3. I second Kibit13. That is alot of electronics for 5 years old. Your gonna want to make sure he's gonna take care of those expensive toys. As boys grow, their toys shrink. They get smaller and more EXPENSIVE. It's depressing when you get all their gifts under the tree, and they take up so little room for the huge hit your wallet just took. You will definately want to save a few big toys to buy for the near future. I am in that boat myself now. My DS13 has EVERYTHING in the video game department, and Ipod Touch, and a laptop of his own. Just when I thought he had nothing else to ask for, wouldn't ya know he wants a Ipad2. Now I'm already thinking "What am I gonna get him next year". Luckily Playstation Vita and Wii U will be out.
  4. My family must be lazier than most. Lol. We have the Wii, but the biggest workout it ever gets is when I take a notion to use my Wii fit board. No matter which system you buy, check out the Legos games. They are available on all 3 systems and are appropriate for all ages. They come in Star Wars, Pirates of the Carribean, Harry Potter, Batman, and Indiana Jones to name a few.
  5. We have both, and they are both awesome systems. I bought the PS3 when it was first released, thinking that DH and DS could share it, however I quickly noticed that PS3 had very little kid friendly games. We ended up buying the XBox 360 for DS because of that.
  6. Right there with ya on DS lite too (DS13 plays it more than the regular DSI by far because of the Advance games). DS 13 had all of his Gameboy systems out the other day playing with them. Looking at his Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance I just can't believe how far Nintendo has come.......
  7. Well, my DS13 has all 3 systems. He was 5 when he got his first DS, so yeah I would say she is about the right age. He says he likes his 3DS better because it has more options. The control pad is easier to use (has a thumb joystick pad), and he has the 3D option (you do have the option of turning the 3D off), along with a telescoping stylus. They are also bringing out new games that are only available for 3DS (who didn't see that one coming, LOL). Nintendo just price cut the 3DS from $249.99 to $169.99, so personally I don't expect to see any GREAT deals on the system on BF, possibly a store giftcard. ToysRUs did have a decent deal on it 2-3 weeks ago with a free game (around $40.00 savings depending on the game you choose). On the other hand, you might consider that at 6 years old, and how expensive the 3DS is, would your daughter take care of it. If it were me, and considering her age, I would keep that in mind as well. If I could find a decent price, I would buy now. BTW another poster on another thread said she found a DSI at Radioshack for $69.99, so if you decide to go that route I would check my local RadioShack's.
  8. Found great deals at my local Kmart on clearance with extra 50% off tonight. Included Star Wars Tri-Droid Attack set reg. $34.99. Paid $10.00. Cars Piston Cup foldable track with Lightning Mcqueen reg. $29.99 for $9.00. Clue Spies board game with cell phone that received hint text messages reg. $29.99 and paid $9.00.
  9. Either way $69.99 is a great price. Congrats!
  10. The DS Lite has the option to play gameboy advance games and DS games, the DSI plays only DS games and includes a camera. That really just depends on your child. My DS13 has both systems and I have noticed that he plays his DS Lite more than his DSI because of the Gameboy game option. Both are nice, and I'm sure your child will be happy with either. $99.99 seems like a good deal to me.....
  11. Always dress comfortably, in layers, with appropriate shoes. I use a cross body wallet that I put my cell phone, cash, debit card and license in. We usually have a fairly large group, so I always type out a list of what we want and split it up by 3-4 items per person to get. Each person gets their own list of their items with directions to where each item is located in the store. The items are split by location in the store so we can get in and out quickly. We meet up front at registers, and are usually checked out within 15 minutes.
  12. Unfortunately, your right about that. The big ticket electronics are usually a limit of 1 per customer. You have alot of big ticket items that you need. I had alot of big ticket items myself last year, and was lucky to have Mom, MIL, SIL and a aunt, and cousin besides DH and myself, so we did manage to score all that we needed at Walmart. If you don't have alot of people willing to go with you, then it would be tough to get all that you need. I got a couple of the DS's on Amazon last year the same price as Walmart was selling them for BF the week of Thanksgiving in the lightning deals, and that made it alot easier to get all needed at Wally World. The great thing about Amazon was no shipping and no tax so they ended up even cheaper.
  13. Yeah, me either. I warned her not to buy it, but she said she just wanted something to check her e-mail on while she was on vacation. My 13 year old described it correctly when he said it as a low tech doorstop.
  14. Here is a link to it. It is a refurb and has Windows CE on it. My cousin bought one of them, and I set it up for her. It runs extremely slow, freezes up constantly, and she doesn't get a very good wifi signal on it. I would not recommend it at all.
  15. DSI and DS Lite are different systems. I read somewhere that Nintendo is discontinuing the DS Lite. (Not sure if that is true or not, but sounds about right with the new 3DS just out this year). Still, I don't expect to see them drop to $50.00, even on BF. Watch TRU sale papers. They recently had the 3DS with a free game. That saves you around $40.00 depending on the game you choose. Nintendo recently price dropped the 3DS to $169.99
  16. Last year they had sales all week of Thanksgiving. I bought most of my stuff in gold box, or lightning deals. They matched alot of the really good BF sales (B&M stores deals) during the lightning deals. Some of the lightning deals showed a picture of what was going to be on sale or just gave you hints and did not say what the price was going to be, it just dropped during the time slot. The really good deals sold out within minutes, so you have to keep a close eye a good ways ahead so you know what is coming up to be ready. I spent most of that week on my computer.....
  17. This is what I was told yesterday as well. The Touchpad's have been taken off their website all together, now. At least, as of this morning they are not on there. I was told by a customer service rep to watch the website and what is left will be put on there. She did not know if other stores like BestBuy would be getting more or not.
  18. Found this LINK a few minutes ago. Not good news for those of us still looking.
  19. Did anyone else notice that Office Depot has the 16gb Touchpad in their sale paper for $399.00? OfficeDepot.com had them for $129.99 when everyone else dropped them to $99.99. Makes me wonder if the next batch will be on fire sale after all.....
  20. If they are going to continue making them through October I wonder if Best Buy will get more..... I just called all 3 stores in my area. One store has a recording answering the phone saying they do not have them, another store is saying they don't expect to get more, and the other store is saying they may get more, but don't know for sure. I'm starting to get a headache. Anyone else had any luck?
  21. Congrats. That's great. Where did you end up finding it?
  22. We bought DS13 the 3DS for his birthday when it was released in April. He really likes it, but after a short while it starts to give him a headache, so he turns off the 3D option. He does not usually like 3D movies so I did not understand why he wanted the 3DS. His explanation hit the nail right on the head. He was afraid that Nintendo would start making some of the games he would want for just the 3DS. He was exactly right. They have released several games that he wanted here lately just for the 3DS.
  23. One of my cousins uses Straight Talk with unlimited nationwide talk/text and web access. It is $45.00 a month and he gets a better signal in our area than I do with Verizon Wireless.
  24. Mine does as long as it's not the price with the extra care cash or an instore coupon adjusted price. I always take the ad because most of the cashiers at my Walmart just love to give you a hard time about price adjusting.
  25. Sounds good. If I manage to get 2 I will PM you tomorrow morning.
