  1. I think so. DD is 7 and she has one. I got her one at Target last year on BF. It takes good pictures and she loves it. We bought her a case, a memory card and a digital picture frame too.
  2. I got DD the red one from Target last year. It takes great pictures, and she loves it!! That was her big gift last year but well worth it.
  3. I think it went on sale last year in the TRU big toy sale. (the one that ends just before BF) But I really don't remember the price. I agree buy it now, and keep the receipt just in case.
  4. I think this year it will be about 28 people. Maybe a few more if I can fit it in the budget.
  5. Except last year it was cold and rainy!! I about froze waiting in line at the Chesapeake Kohls and then when the rain started I went and sat in the car!! It got better as the day went on though.
  6. Had to worry about getting money together last year. This year I am more relaxed and have put money into a Christmas Club. I figure its money I can't touch and when I get the check at the end of October. I will still have a few weeks to add to it for BF. Still I try to budget the money, and if there is any extra it goes to buy more stuff for DD7
  7. Sports equipment, K-nex or legos, books, walkie talkies, sleeping bags. when my boys were that age they loved anything. do you know their interest? My DD is 7 and she loves Barbies and Polly Pockets too. The car that the Barbies ride in (not the remote control one) is less than $15 here.
  8. I think this a newer toy. I don't remember seeing them before and they are similar to the calico critters. I have only seen them at Walmart here in Chesapeake VA. Good luck getting them.
  9. Sony ereaders are still only 30% off here.
  10. I saw them too and thought they were cute, but I am not sure how hot of an item it will be. Walmart is the only place I have see them.
  11. I saw Target had those paper guitars that I saw mentioned somwhere on here. The had the drums and some kind of amp. I think these are going to be popular. They did loook pretty cool.
  12. Don't understand how you do what you do, but I can tell it's helpful and I like it!! Thank You!!!!!!!
  13. I would love to get an e-reader for my DS. How does the Sony compare to the Kindle?
  14. My DH has never gone out on BF. He has watched the kids, and likes me to save money, but he would think I was torturing him if I even asked him to go. Tell your DH I think its great he's heading out. TRU is a madhouse, and the lines can be long. I agree no cart or if a cart is needed have a buddy who can get in line while he runs to get stuff. It was our first stop last year. We had one in line, 2 getting stuff and it still took an hour to get in and out.(not counting the 2 hours in line outside)
  15. I think your Ipad idea is a good one. You know your kids and what they will like. Mine usually made good list but sometimes their favorites were things they did not ask for, but we knew they would enjoy. Now it's my mom and dad who are hard to buy for. They never want anything and I really don't know what they would like. Wish I could get Ipads for them.
  16. I have a very small purse I can put around my neck with my money, gift cards, and list. That's all I take in unless I need to price match at Walmart. I have the ads with me in the car. If I have a long time to wait in line I'll bring them with me along with a chair. My shopping buddy or me will hold the place in line for putting everything back in the car. I do bring ham rolls and water but they just stay in the car and we enjoy them between stores.
  17. My favorite had to be Target last year. I found lots of items on the wish list and the cashier let me divide up my purchases to get as many $10 gift cards as I could. We would do one transaction and the I would use the gift card on the next transaction. It was great!!! Lines were handled well too. The free drink coupons worked well that day too.
  18. My routine begins on Wednesday too. Whenever the boss says lets go home, I head to Mom's to help with the cooking. I get up early Thanksgiving morning to go get papers (usually 5-6 so everyone can look and I have a main copy.) Then I head to Mom's for a cup of coffee and we go to K-Mart if there is any thing we want. Back home we finish cooking (this year we a getting my DDIL's involved more and asking them to bring a dish.) After dinner everyone starts making wish list and talking about the ads. We try to figure out who is going where, the only rule is you cannot ask who you are buying for (yes we have had people get their own gifts but the rule helps) Last year I was a TRU around 10:30 PM out of there by 1:00 and off to Kohls, but the rest of the family members (those who enjoy going) were at Best buy, Target, Home Depot, and of course Walmart. Depending on the ads more stores may come later in the day. Everyone gets together later that afternoon to exchange purchases. then I head home to eat leftovers and sleep!! Prior to BF I spend a lot of time going through the ads here on GottaDeal and it is a big BIG help. I am able to research products and make better choices.
  19. So far my DD7 is not interested in any of the "hot" toys this year. But if any one needs help finding things I don't mind helping.
  20. DD took a friend last year and she did not last standing in line to get in the first store. We tried to warn her what it would be like, but she thought it would be fun. Plus our weather was lousy last year and most of us who went ended up sick.
  21. I think I started in !997. For some reason I thought only crazy people went out on BF. I finally went and have been every year since!!
  22. I am, and most of my family joins in the shopping but if I talk about it too much to early they think I am crazy and tune me out!!! It is great to know that there are others who enjoy the deals as much as I do.
  23. I have saved some money. I have kept a running list and whenever I have heard, oh I liked that I write it down just in case it ends up a BF special. Have ask all my kids, their spouse etc to start making list of things they would like.

    Gift Budgeting

I have been putting money into a Christmas club account each week, some weeks more some less. I am hoping to have $75 a piece to spend on my older 5 and $75 on their spouses. On DD7 I will spend closer to $125-150. My parents $50 each. Brother & SIL $50 for the couple. My office gets a family from social services so $40 for that. We do a name drawing with DH's family and I think the limit is between $25 and $35 for that. Teacher gifts etc it all adds up to fast. Hope I have saved enough or that I 'll get a bonus this year!!! This site is great for helping me stretch those dollars!!
  25. Target had nice digital frames last black Friday. The ones I bought are still working.
