i also didnt know of such a thing... but i make 2 pages a year.. 1 has ppl who live here.. and the items they are getting as well as the price.. so i keep both the price and number of items close.. ( this takes some extra doing towards the end...or additional gift cards to even things out.. and the second paper for family and people who dont live here.. and it just lists what they are getting and who.. in hopes of making sure i dont forget someone.

i think asking the local schools is a great idea.. they would know who is actually in need. , vs some trees that i wonder how certain people have gotten listed on them...( but not going there tonight)

we set up the weekend after black friday. but after last year we might do outside lights sooner..as it gets cold!!! not to mention poss.snow

i agree bright colors get noticed.. if going super hero maybe something with i can see in the dark, and see is crossed off and says <shop over it. also would be fitting with glow in the dark letters. shopping , no stopping. or dont be afraid to ask me what gottadeal is.. im nice, and dont bite, unless you try to grab my ... door buster had an idea to go with this but would really only work with us women.. dont even try to grab my bust! door buster that is!

also , most 5 below stores also have fundraisers with local schools or what not.. we( project safe grad) are given one .. if people bring the "coupon " in , they give a % of the profit to the non charitable organization. it runs for a few weeks before xmas, but after the balck friday rush.

wow had to think.. its been a lonnnngg time.im thinking 1994 or 1995. and yeah at that time it was not like it is now. personally ii give credit to gottadeal for letting the secret out... seems the creation of the site is about the time bf became as popular as it is. when i was a teen few people even know what it was . i first saw gottadeal site was 2005..

more then half the tent is actually behind as curb, it does leave plenty of room.. however im not supporting this guy... i think its more a publicity stunt. and he really isnt living at all like the homeless.. the only hope is he raises money for the food pantry, and not just himself. the article states he is not only collecting for the food pantry , but also expecting to be fed and live on the donations given to him from now till black friday.. no homeless person has a tent in a dry overhang, with permission, a van near by , food being brought to him likely more then he can consume.use of restrooms with out harassment...and all the while knows he has no stress of actually being homeless as he has a job and is given permission to camp for a month.. all the while getting so much publicity.and people welcoming him and congratulating him.with the utmost respect.. imo a homeless person gets the exact opposite? not to mention he has the money in his pocket for the tv that has not been advertised yet.
