Official Price Matching & Price Adjusting Discussion Thread
zim05 replied to bigjimslade's topic in 2008
Does it say specifically in the Black Friday ads whether or not they price match (I'll still probably call the store)? I'm thinking about trying it for a few things, can you pretty much price match from any store's ads? For example can you PM things from Walmart, Best Buy, Kmart at Target? Thanks for all the input it really helps!! -
I know that Herbergers usually has a coupon in their BF ads that if you spend $25 or $50 you get $10 off or something like that but the coupon has to be used before a certain time (10am stands out in my mind but I'm not exactly for sure). My mom has used it in the past and we usually get two papers so two coupons and she just does two transactions.

I absolutly adore Josh Groban's "Noel" Christmas CD (I think it was the top CD of all last year if I remember right). He is a classically trained singer so it has a old-fashion feel but modern!! I also just picked up Kristin Chenoweth's "A Lovely Way To Spend Christmas" she is one of the stars on the TV show "Pushing Daisies" and is huge in the Broadway community and has an amazing voice. I also can not do a Christmas without Alvin and the Chipmuck's Christmas CD!

Our Menards' line is sooo long on BF its insane! Its like the line from Target combined with half of Best Buys!! We never go to Menards on BF because by the time we get done with our usual stores (walmart, target, bb) Menards is soo packed!!
-
I guess I would agree with the others and see if you can bring another person along who can handle the three 22" in a cart while you get the other one!!

On Thanksgiving, just driving to my parent's house about 15 minutes away. On BF we leave their house and then return back to it when we are done so basically no travel!

Tv prices were not quite as cheap as I would have thought but still eyeing that Samsung 32" for 499 though...We usually don't do Sears on BF but its nice to see whats all out there!! A couple DVDs may be worth the price matching at Walmart but I would have thought there would be more DVDs?!?! Expecially with quite a few good titles that either just came out or will be released right before BF...

Growing up my parents would hide the "Christmas Pickle" (its a ceramic pickle ornament - its a German Christmas Eve tradition) and whoever finds it would go first then we would go in a circle clockwise. Opening a gift one at a time and everyone pays attention to whoever is opening. It usually takes us a couple of hours to get through gifts. We still do that even though our ages range from 13-23. Christmas morning we go youngest to oldest with stockings and santa gifts. When we all go over to Grandma's house its kinda a 'free for all' since everyone tends to be all over the house. Usually one of the aunts hands out the gifts and the younger cousins give it to the person and such.
-
My parents still do stockings for us. My older sister and I are in our early 20's (she is 23 and I'm 21) but since we have younger siblings (16, 13, 12) my mom just does ours differently. My younger siblings get video games, movies, candy, jewelry, little nic-nacks where as my older sister and I get gift cards, handmade jewelry, movies and candy.

My family has been doing the sharing tree since I can remember, since my mom is a social worker she got my older sister and I involved when we were little. Its now a tradition and I realized last BF while waiting for Target to open that the table for the sharing tree was already out. We figure this year we will get a card early and then possibly get what is needed on BF since its on sale we can get more cards for the same amount we've previously spent!

This is basically one of the reasons I go to Walmart on BF! While my mom and sis are trying to get electronics I'm by the movies! I like their varity of $1.88 and $4 as well as the newer releases that are between $10-$15!
-
About 15-20 miles from where we usually do BF We are actually between two towns that both have a Target, Walmart and K-mart but we choose to go to the bigger town that has a Target, Walmart, BB within a mile of each other. The bigger town also has two malls, Kohls, old navy and a lot more... But after we are done in the big town my mom and sis head home but I go on to the smaller town (around 8-9am) and double check at that Target and Walmart for anything we missed or things that we know will not be gone by than (like bedding, misc. movies/cds) and pick it up then.

I went to Kmart last TG morning for the Wii and got it, I got there about 2am and was the second person. But unless they have something super-duper I'm not sure I will go this TG, it all depends on the ad!
-
Usually I'll come up with a possible plan after the Ads leak and let my mom and sis know about any must haves. But the final plan is thought up on Thanksgiving when we have the actual paper ads.
-
I'm using up my points for BF this year as well. So far I recieved a $50 and $10 for Target and a $25 for Best Buy. Last year I wanted to use my points and a week before BF I ordered them but they ended up coming the day after BF, so make sure to order them early!
-
I'm looking forwards to Target, Walmart and Best Buy's ads!
-
No that really doesn't happen with us. My mom, sister and I that go out on BF and we don't really advertise it and frankly I don't even think some of my relatives know what BF is and our friends are usually out there as well or don't really care. Oh well its there loss and more for us!
-
Well Minnesota = flippen cold...I'm so use to it that I don't mind it. I just hope that morning it doesn't snow cuz it really sucks driving in snow. The last couple years there really hasn't been a whole lot of it on the ground on BF...
-
I'm thinking around $500 for me, I usually don't buy too many big ticket items - mainly DVDs and a few Christmas gifts. On BF my sister and I mainly go for bigger things for my parents' list and they pay us back. But once the stores open my budget goes out the window - I just grab and swipe!
-
Well my family is already doing some big ticket shopping (we just got a wii and two wii fits), so it will be easier on the pocketbook starting now than in November. Every year my family says it will not be as much as the last but all in all we probably spend the same.

LOL! BF is all about the numbers (both prices and time). If you take longer than 15 or so minutes at Walmart you should expect to stand in extremely long lines! Same goes for Target but since WM is bigger than Target the line waiting will be a bit longer. Also in the town we do our BF shopping, WM is about a half-mile from Target, since it opens an hour earlier everyone stops at WM b/f Target. So you kinda have to be one of the first out so you can be on of the first at Target!

Anyone else having BF dreams? I started having dreams about BF beginning of September. They tend to be more nightmarish though...they usually revovle around the door opening (usually Target) and me in a 'dazed and confused' feeling. I usually can't find anything or everything is gone, then I wake up. Or else the worst BF dream is when I oversleep and missed everything, the worse thing that could happen If that's not being antsy I don't know what it is!!
-
Yeah I know what you mean expecially with WalMart. If people go to WalMart on BF they need to know what to expect. We've gone there first every BF and I'm from a mid-size town so its not as violent or as chaotic as bigger towns (like those youtube videos), but its definitely not a walk in the park either. To deal with Walmart you really have to have a game plan and grab and go, if your browsing or not quite sure what you want or where it is - you will be stuck in crowds and long lines to check out. I don't think Walmart, itself, necessarly worse than other stores on BF, its just bigger so there are more people. I do think people, customers and workers, at Target or BB tend to be nicer than those at Walmart though...

I would say mid-october, but now would be perfectly fine with me

Does anyone know if Barnes & Nobles has BF deals? Has anyone stopped there?
