  1. Line-cutting was the starngest thing I saw. It's hard for me to comprehend how people can show up at 30 minutes to open, try to jump in front of everyone, and NOT expect to have a crowd of people dislike them.
  2. Not sure if they are all the same, but I just opened my RAM cover and found a single 512mb chip (made by a company I have never heard of). Now I have to decide if I want to buy another 512mb chip and hope the two are compatible enough to run dual channel (I don't know much about it) or just to skip it and buy two matched chips (either 512mb or 1g). Thoughts? Oh, BTW -- my laptop was set at 64mb Video Memory, I turned it up to 128mb. That combined with the 128mb "Hypermemory share" setup seems to do a real nice job even with the reduced system memory.
  3. Had seen this before, but thanks again. I'm thinking about the battery and some more RAM.
  4. Yes -- all of the advice and info I picked up here not only made it possible for me, but I spread the word to other people too!

    Talking In Line

Under normal circumstances I don't talk to people...but this time I did. I actually met some great people. This might change my whole outlook. I might become a line-talker. :)
  6. Not the first time I've heard of this. Either employees swiping the stuff and replacing with bricks or wood -- or other customers do it and return them that way.
  7. I wouldn't have changed a single thing. I came here and read weeks ahead of time and learned what to expect. I got to the store at the right time and then educated the rest of the early people on what to expect. Together we all protected ourselves and got what we wanted. It worked out really well. :)
  8. Seems like a rotten deal. I would think contacting CC after the craziness is over may get you one too since there was an obvious mistake.
  9. Sorry to hear about your experience.
  10. At the CC I was at the early people wrote down a list with people's names on it well in advance. Then when management came out to hand out vouchers, we gave them the list and vouched for people saying who they were. All of us early people got what we wanted.
  11. I got the CC at 9:20pm, was 12th in line for the laptop. Dealt with all of the gate crashers, attempted cutters, and all kinds of people just like I read on here (I was prepared). The early group of people all stuck together and we made sure we all did good. We had made a list of everyone's names and gave it to management so we all got the laptop vouchers. It was still total chaos and I was not ready for that part, but I did know what to do. Once inside they tried to tell me that I had to sign up for the expensive AOL plan or nothing. I got a little loud because they refused to budge on that. Management came over and I pointed out what their ad says and they told me they could try. I watched them do it on the screen (electronically) and it was just another option -- chose the $15/month plan. So my total for the CC Toshiba is $380. Felt good for my first BF. BTW, my CC had 43 laptops.

  13. I got it -- so far so good!
  14. It's starting to rain here. I think I will leave earlier to make sure I get a spot under the overhand at the store.

Ugh -- well, I suppose being $300+ is probably right for not signing a contract. Too good to be true...
  16. I didn't even think about proprietary batteries -- I was hoping some of these cameras with docking stations would have the ability to charge AA batteries in the camera, but I guess I must be dreaming. I think if they could do that I might be interested.
  17. I can see the details, just want to see the fine print.
  18. I'm not seeing the Toshiba laptop in their normal section, only on the ad scan.
  19. I'd be sort of interested in a docking station if they also charge batteries, I think it'd be nice. I don't know much (anything?) about them though...
  20. Toshiba lappie from CC. Not sure of any others, still considering...
  21. Can't read any of the fine print!

That's the interesting part. Phones don't generally require that you sign a contract to buy them, only that you do if you want to get their super-low price. It's not often advertised, except sometimes in the fine print. If they advertise "x" amount without mentioning activation, I'm see no reason to believe it needs to be. It mentions Instant savings of $249.99 and a $60.00 mail in rebate, with a regular price of $349.99. BUT -- The phone is on thier website now along with the details of the rebate. The mail-in rebate requires new activation. So basically you'd pay $100 for the phone if you don't want to activate a plan as best I can tell. BTW, I'm sure it's pure coincidence, but the phone is backordered and the rebate expires 11/26.
  23. I can tell you 100% certain they will not be upgraded for free. Whether or not they actually do this at all the stores or just the sleazy ones (all?) I don't know.
