  1. I wonder if they're still doing the "advertise for one price but when you get there you have to buy an expensive package with it" thing they did before?
  2. I've been looking everywhere and I can't find a utility that will identify it as dual channel BUT, I also can't find a utility that will fully read the chipset either. I think it may be fine and it's just a case of it not being read by the utilities as such yet.
  3. I got mine today as well. I installed it and got the same results from the same utilities as you ran, exactly the same, except mine is the Kingston chip. I did notice that in Sandra it lists the original chip as a 32x16 while it lists the Kingston as a 64x8. I thought this would probably make a difference so I went ahead and ordered another Kingston to see what happens. I also noticed that Sandra reports the original chip as being in two separate 256mb banks (6 & 7) which is really strange, but later reports it as a single 512mb chip. Not sure what that means anyway since there are only two banks... I did call Toshiba and ask and all they could tell me is that it should happen automatically and they don't know of any way for me to actually tell if it's in dual channel mode or not. I would think yours should be dual channel but mine I am not so confident about (because of the different chip configurations). Once I get this other chip I'll just sell the original one so it won't hurt so bad in my wallet. I just wish I could find a utility that will definitively tell us -- lets keep this thread updated so we can figure this out.
  4. As far as I can tell. I wasn't sure at first, but the spec sheets for the L25-S1192 (yours) and the L25-S1193 (mine) both indicate this is the right battery. I suppose you could give a quick call to Toshiba to verify, but I imagine it's correct.
  5. This is the one that comes up as a match: http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/adet.to?poid=294716&seg=HHO
  6. You can order it directly off Toshiba's website. Haven't seen them anyplace else.
  7. I'll give it a try. This should tell me if it's running dual-channel or not somewhere in the memory specs, correct?
  8. I don't recall seeing a BIOS option for this, but it could be there. What I'm saying I guess is that I'm sure it will recognize the memory, I'm just not sure if ti will run dual-channel. That's really what I want to know.
  9. I ordered the Kingston 512mb chip from NewEgg. I'm sure that it will work, but the dual-channel part is what what I'm unsure of. How can I verify it is in fact running in dual-channel?
  10. I love this laptop so far. I already ordered another stick of 512mb RAM so it will really run nice ($45). I turned up the graphics to share 128mb, and it has run every game I've tried so far great. This video adapter actually uses Hypermemory or something like that and shares another 128mb along with the 128mb that you can dedicate to the video, makes for a pretty nice adapter. My only other gripe is the battery of course, but I knew that coming in. I'll probably order it.
  11. The CC I was at gave out numbered vouchers. The first people in line wrote down out names on our own to make sure we all got what we were waiting for and then gave it to management when they handed out vouchers.
  12. Great deal -- that sounds like their taking care of it for you. I'm sure it's not policy, and you definitely are getting special treatment, so I would certainly make sure they know how much you appreciate what they are doing to correct the mistake (maybe tell their bosses too!).
  13. Just as an FYI -- the CC and BB Toshibas did come with L-Ion batteries.
  14. IMO, it's wrong to get these limited offers and resell them. My reasoning is simply that the only reason you (as a reseller) are there is because you know you are taking those items away from someone else (the person standing behind you), then you're going to turn around and try and sell it to them at a profit. That's ethically wrong. Is it your good planning or your ability to stand out in the cold or anything else that made you a profit? Not even close. It's pure greed. If you want to be in business and make money reselling items open up a store and take a risk and earn it honestly, don't take from other people. Plain and simple the way I see it. Feel free to disagree, it's just my opinion.
  15. I didn't realize these were such a hot item -- I stopped in yesterday around 11 to check on some other advertised stuff there and saw a huge pile of them. Maybe it's worth checking your local stores for them?
  16. I'll throw my 2 cents in here -- it can't be an ad misprint unless they post or print a correction. If there was no correction, they may have made a mistake but they will have to fix it for you one way or another.
  17. Last night before I read these last posts I went ahead and ordered a stick of Kingston from NewEgg. Guess we'll see if it works when it gets here. If not, I know what to try next. Looking now (as long as the part numbers are accurate) they both are the same size of course but also have the same number of chips and timing. Hope it works! How can I tell if it's running in dual channel and the speed it's running at?
  18. I posted about the same thing yesterday, I got a couple different stories from an associate and then a manager before they finally agreed to do it even though they still said it wouldn't work and AOL would charge me anyway. I stood behind the employee and watched him sign me up, it was right on the screen for the right plan. Shady operation there...
  19. I didn't want one but I did notice when the guys where handing out vouchers almost nobody took any. When I finally got my laptop a couple hours after the store opened I saw quite a few of the TVs still sitting there.
  20. I don't know that it's bad RAM, it is still PC4200 DDR2 memory in a single 512mb chip after all, but I don't know if I can find another from the same company. I think it was Hynix.
  21. To make a long story short, they wouldn't let me sign up for the $15/month plan ... at first. I had to argue with the associate and then manager who kept telling me it wasn't allowed (until I showed him the text in the ad) and then he went to an argument that AOL wouldn't work that way in their system and AOL would charge me the higher rate anyway. He finally caved and told the associate to do it. I stood behind the associate as his did it electronically and it said right on the screen that you could sign up for the AOL for Broadband for $15/month for 1 year and get the $250 off, so I'm not sure what they were trying to pull. So yes, I did get the $250 off by signing up for $15/month. I think I may just cancel it now and have them charge me the $180 so I don't have to worry about it.
  22. Left home at 9:00PM. Got home at 7:30AM with the laptop from Circuit City!
  23. They did manage to get that up before the big day, it wasn't just posted today.
