  1. What exactly is a "Gold Box" deal? I haven't seen that before. Adam
  2. I wouldn't count on much for warranty or service -- Philips is getting out of the TV business and the website even says everything is sold "as-is." Adam
  3. When I print the card it comes out really small. Do I take that or just give the code? Thanks! Adam
  4. Went to the Seattle Premium Outlets and ended up parking nearly a mile away at the casino next door (not much parking there either!). Coach line was about 200 long, with other stores not as bad but still lines. Went into a couple and found lackluster sales and long lines to checkout. Ended up coming back later that night and only really missed out on 10% off at Coach and similar at other stores -- glad I didn't spend all night there. Adam
  5. This thread is about employees purchasing before any other customers. My point was that an employee should have to wait in line like everyone else - not have an advantage. If you give employees an advantage, you are defeating the whole purpose of the sale (which is of course to bring the customers into the store). I don't think it's nasty at all, I think that's fair. I've worked in retail before and like any other job, there may be disadvantages or things you don't like. That, in iteself, does not entitle employees to special privledges. Adam
  6. Having employees shop before customers makes absolutely no sense. The whole point of a sale is to draw customers into the store - not employees! If an employee isn't able to purchase a product for the same price or lower than a customer it sounds to me like the store should revise it's policies (benefits). There shouldn't have to be competition between employees and customers. Adam
  7. Personally, I don't see how this can be enforced unless it's stated in the Ad or in a policy somewhere -- and I've never seen that. Maybe try a different CC just to avoid the hassle if you really want more than one of the doorbusters.
  8. Just got the email with this years Invitation. It's a PDF about 1.5mb -- can email it here if we want to post it. Adam
  9. Personally, what offends me is when a store chooses to promote a single religion's holidays. That's why my feeling has always been keep it generic or celebrate them all. Other holidays, such as Hanukkah, had nothing to do with giving presents until the 20th Century, I believe, when many wanted an equivalent to Christmas. It's really a pretty low level holiday in the grand scheme of things and that is why you will likely not hear many people wishing others "Happy Hanukkah" or taking the days off work or keeping kids home from school. That doesn't mean there aren't many people celebrating it. Just something to keep in mind when forming opinions about how many people celebrate this and that and what's appropriate to say to others. Adam
  10. Probably more focused on not price matching/returning than checking more people out if I know BB like I think I do. All about "firing the bad customers." Adam
  11. Except that the only reason you stood in line for 10 hours was someone else was only willing to stand in line for 9 hours and you wanted to take their money. Falls into the same category as selling BF items if you ask me -- only reason you're doing it is to take advantage of other people. Adam
  12. Glad to hear it. I expected it thanks to advanced warning from here on the boards, but there were PLENTY of surprised people, and not all that happy with it either when they heard it was going to cost them another $80-$100+. Adam
  13. I did CC last year (first year) and it was much better than I thought. I got there early (9ish) and there were already people there. I was able to meet some nice people and there's sort of a special bond between the early people that just doesn't happen with getting there later. Maybe it was all in my head -- but it was fun -- almost as much fun as getting what I wanted! Adam
  14. I tend not to shop at either, but I did purchase the CC laptop last year. I thought the line at CC was much caler than what I saw/hear about at BB across the street. As far as pricing and other practices, I have heard many, MANY horror stories about BB, not so much about CC. ne thing I will say they both did last year was for the laptops they said Minimum 25 per store (or something similar). They had more -- maybe 50 or so. I was in the first 25 and got mine ok. The next 25 they had "preloaded" software and/or memory, etc. and upped the price. Of course once the first 25 were gone you had no choice -- they weren't going to take their extras back off. Sleazy sales tactic if you ask me. Both stores did this from what I hear. Adam
  15. Yes - I believe limits are great - have to have them. One per person please. BB's limits, however, are despicable. This is the first I've heard of that type of limit - I try not to set foot in that store - but it's just another example of them "firing their bad customers." Sure, we all know doorbusters are to get customers in the door, but that's no longer good enough, now people who live together don't count as seperate customers? Adam
  16. I cancelled about 2 weeks after the sale. It was cheaper to pay the cancellation fee than the monthly fee for the year. It was $200 vs. $21.95*12 or something similar. Adam
  17. Hi Everyone! I'm not on here as much as I should be, but it's getting ot be that special time of year so I'll be here more. This will be my 2nd BF, my first was last year and thanks to this site I'm the proud owner of one of the CC Laptops from last year. Thanks -- looking forward to more deals! Adam
  18. I'm not sure about the original warranty being valid, but if so, you can purchase a warranty directly through Toshiba if you're not comfortable with the "store" warranty.
  19. BTW - I already cancelled mine, so it might show differently on mine than yours. I don't know if they will charge me a single month and then all the rest or how they will do it.
  20. That doesn't sound right -- I know they bill a month in advance, but that doesn't add up. I'll check mine, I don't think I've gotten one charge yet??
  21. I don't think anyone addressed the service plan/warranty. There's no reason in the world why you shouldn't be able to return that. Most places will pro-rate it, so you might not get the full amount back, but it depends on the exact circumstances. The restocking fees I don't like at all. They used to be limited to laptops for whatever reason, and now they're everywhere. Return policy is definitely a big part of my buying decision, where it used to not be so much.
  22. The idea of the "Verify-1" database is rediculous. If you buy things at what 3? different chain stores and happen to want to return all, you might be flagged and denied a return? Sounds just like this deal with credit cards where you make a late payment to one and they all raise interest rates...
