  1. 90% in DFW (Collin County area). Lots of ornaments, stockings, cards, and bows. Almost nothing in the way of lights, decor, gift box items, or candy. Didn't find any secret stashes of tape, but got a lifetime supply last year. No real exciting scores, but I had fun anyway, everyone was really nice. I mostly bought what I wanted at 75% because I figured it would be gone by 90%, and boy was I right! Here are more "secret"/misplaced things to look for besides tape: In the regular candy aisle, look for bags with bows or holiday decor printed on them, especially Dove, Hershey's, Lindt. In the electrical aisle, look for white extension cords and light timers in red and green packaging that say "holiday". Things to be aware of that aren't rigning up 90%: Wrapping paper, tissue, and bags where the packaging says "celebrate" instead of "holiday", even if it seems like holiday prints (solid red and green, silver snowflakes, "joy" print, etc); this is misplaced from the wrapping paper aisle and is only ringing up 30%. A lot of clothing, flannel sheets, stationery items with Christmas themes is ringing 30% or even full price. Home decor items from the floral aisle are ringing 75%, not 90% So when in doubt, scan EVERYTHING, or be prepared to argue your case!
  2. Frisco and Coit Rd (Richardson). Both had very limited selection, still quite a lot of ornaments and wrapping paper, but not much in the way of decor or housewares. The only flannel sheet set I saw was one of the polka dot ones, and it was scanning 30%, so I left it. I visited both last week on the day they went 75% (Thurs? Fri? Can't remember...) and the flannel sheets were being snapped up like hotcakes, so I'm not surprised there aren't any left. You still might score some returns though if you keep checking.
  3. Checked two DFW stores and both were still 75%. One had 75% on candy and one was only 50%. Both had pulled pink dot Dollar Spot. Found clearanced Shark steam mops at each, were marked $44.XX but scanning $0.00 (Salvaged). Staff told me they could sell to me at last price, which was $44 (50% off). Not low enough for me, so I passed.
  4. It depends on the laws in your state. Target's official policy is to refund at the current selling price; however, if your state forbids this, they have to refund you the price you paid as long as you present a valid receipt. Here in TX I get the price I paid back, even if the % off has gone lower. Not sure about OH.
  5. That sounds pretty standard for an electric toothbrush ($10 a head). I get brush heads at Costco, or sometimes I find them on clearance at Target.
  6. I went to a different Borders today and they had the same deal. They also had glitter balls for 99 cents, they are liquid- and glitter-filled bouncing balls of various sizes and colors and some of them light up when you bounce them. Right now I'm picturing all the poor wind-up toys being decimated by the glitter balls (not to mention the broken ornaments, vases, TVs, etc)...
  7. Thanks for the tip OP! They were indeed 99 cents at my local Borders. They were hard to find, I found them in a special wall shelf display located on the back of a pillar close to the greeting cards and gift items. Cute stuff, including bugs, dinos, robots, animals, vehicles, circus characters, musical characters, dancing people, and tub toys. A tip: if you have a Borders rewards card, even the free one, they should have sent you an email notifying you that they put $5 in rewards in your account that you can use this week only. I was able to get five (almost) free toys just by presenting my card!
  8. Major one is in Jan, some items in July. Not everything goes on clearance, just select items they are discontinuing. I think you would be REALLY hard-pressed to find the furniture items you want, especially if they are matching, on clearance. Usually it's a TON of linens and smaller items; a few larger items like carseats, strollers, and swings; and maybe one or two furniture items, rarely matching. I'm not sure when they start the first round of markdowns, either end of Dec or beginning of Jan (it will be 15% or maybe 30%). That will tell you if the ones you want will be clearanced. They usually take forever to mark down lower, and not much has been making it to 75% lately. It's over by the end of Jan, that's when they usually salvage the leftovers. If they don't get clearanced, maybe you could get a discount some other way, like with the Target credit card or through the baby registry?
  9. Keep in mind Albertsons has different ownership and sale items depending on what region of the country you're in. I found this out when I went to the website, and the store search redirected me to a new website. I'm in TX and my mom is in AZ and got a 29 cents a pound turkey at Albertsons, not sure what brand. Ours didn't have a .29 bird. I'm willing to bet you will only find the really low prices in high-competition areas (like big metro areas).
  10. The turkey's going to eat you, huh? I have read that the Jenny-O are fine. It's a name-brand standard frozen "basted" bird (salt solution added). These were $0.29/lb at my local Kroger but I opted to pay a little more for the Honeysuckle (OK, not much more) due to good results in years past. The Honeysuckle was $0.39/lb at the local Albertson's plus there is an online coupon (google it). Safeway/Tom Thumb was advertising $0.28/lb for Jenny-O -or- Safeway brand, but they had no Jenny-O, only Safeway, and they looked like factory seconds. That's the cheap bird roundup in North Texas. FYI, Albertson's claims you have to spend an additional $20 to get the 39-cent price, but they are not enforcing it, in fact the cheapy price is printed right on the bird's label (no loyalty cards required, either).
  11. Good score. I know they had this same deal last year and I didn't know about it; then I was buying clearance stuff at Gap Body, and the cashier told me about it, scanned a coupon, and handed it to me to use for the rest of the weekend. So I got an extra 30% off my clearance purchases and part of it went to charity. I was stoked.
  12. I went to West Plano, Lewisville and Frisco. Only Frisco had 75% off, and it was slim pickings. There was a lot at all three of the stores but it was still mostly 30% - 50% off. I hope they do another round of markdowns next week. Let me know what you discover in the McKinney/Allen area!
  13. That looks good for chilly morning walks! I really don't want to go deal with the Saturday morning mayhem, though... Funny story about the last One Day Wonder, the puffy jackets that were $16. The regular price on them was marked $49.50 (which was a joke, because they were unlined, no hood, no belt, etc). After the One Day Wonder was over, they had the jackets in the store priced at $18. It still said $49.50 on the tag, but you can bet they never planned on selling it at that price. Today in my local ON they were still running the extra 50% off clearance sale...and guess what was included? Yep. The puffy jacket. Clearanced at $18, making it $9 out the door. And yes, I did buy one!
  14. Went to three stores today and only one had towels and bath rugs at 75%, and it was a small selection. The only towels that were 75% were the "Fast Dry" ones and the "Color Brights" ones. Snagged pretty much all the beige I could find, which was not much. I also picked up some of the gift wrap items at 75%. There were lots of different things besides gift wrap, inlcuding invitations, paper plates/cups, stickers, and even some pinatas.
  15. cherrytech, I checked three Targets (was going anyway, not a big deal to check!) and no luck on your bag, sorry! One store was 50% off with no bags at all; two stores were 30% and only had tote bags and laptop-type bags.
  16. What is this cute Poketo stuff that I totally missed? I so rarely look in the accessories department, I'm sure I've missed a lot of cute stuff. Was it on clearance, or was it one of those limited edition things that's mostly sold out at full price? Anyway, I will keep my eyes open for you.
  17. Congratulations! Mid- to end of January, and end of July. January is more stuff - larger items like furniture, carriers, etc. Unfortunately, they've been leaving items at 15-30% for a long time, and salvaging more stuff, so it's difficult to find larger items at 50%, let alone 75%. But if you stalk regularly, you might luck out!
  18. I wanted one for our "tornado shelter" (aka walk-in closet). Unfortunately, the Haier 7" gets no reception in there using the provided telescoping antenna (it got nine channels in the living room, including the local NBC affiliate, a regional weather channel, and some religion and shopping channels). Should I bother keeping it for power-outages? I'm thinking a decent web-enabled cell phone is probably more useful. We already have one of those emergency weather radios, but sometimes it's nice to see the radar map so you know what's headed your way.
  19. Here is a link for their latest ad. It lists their $16 and 2/$16 specials, valid 10/8 (today) through 10/21: http://oldnavy.shoplocal.com/oldnavy/default.aspx?action=entryflash&id=onolHPCirc
  20. You could check with your store's manager to see if they will do price adjustments if you buy today. It depends on the store if they will or won't. If they will, you still have to go in tomorrow for the adjustment, but you can go later after the crowds die down and you'll have your color and size. I agree with everyone else, these seem not so great, even for $16. The men's look like a giant version of a little kid jacket, and the women's have no liner, no hood, no belt. Would anyone actually pay the full price of $49.95? I bought a few ON jackets on mega-clearance at the end of last season for around $7 apiece. My husband laughed at me, but who's laughing now? They are selling the same ones this year for $45-90!
  21. Finally! These have been 50% off for ages. The college comforters (RE brand?) were 75% off yesterday. Solids and patterns. Twin/Twin XL was $4.98. I got some of these last year and they are fab for the price and wash and wear really well.

  23. Same thing here in DFW area - one store had extra 40% off women's and extra 50% off men/kids, second store had extra 50% off everyone. Unfortunately, it was pretty picked-over, and I came away with nothing. Most of what I saw was sweats, jammies, workout clothes, t-shirts, tanks, capris, cargos, and a few fall items like sweaters and light jackets that weren't marked down very much. Really basic stuff, nothing particularly cute or interesting. No work attire, and not much in the way of summer stuff to put away for next year (unless you want flip-flops, still a ton of those...)
  24. I also saw the RE Room Essentials sheet sets 75% off. These are 220 thread count, come in a drawstring bag, and are either 100% cotton ("Sheet Set") or 60/40 cotton/poly ("Easy Care Sheet Set"). Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full and Queen. Colors: Solids, stripes, polka dots, butterflies/floral. Some colors are only 50% off (purple with purple flowers, lavender, etc). There were also some RE bed-in-bags 75% off ($10), some 400-600 TC sheet sets and pillowcases 75% off (mostly red, gray, gold, and pink colors), and some of the Fieldcrest Luxury bedding and bathroom stuff 75% off (mostly gray and blue colors). There is also a whole lot that is only 30-50% so I'm hoping there will be another wave of markdowns nest week. I did manage to score a Taylor body fat percentage scale for $7.48. If there are any Biggest Loser scales left they might be marked down too.
