  1. Us too :). I found my first kitty in the gutter, between the median of a very busy road. She was so scared . She passed away two years ago from heart complications during labor). Our second kitty was apparentely bieng offered for free from some people outside of a local hospital. My dh was leaving the hospital and heard meowing coming from inside a box and there she was, all alone. I guess the people who had that litter didn't want to wait any longer for someone to take her so they just packed up and left her there with a "free sign" . I definately agree either a local shelter, rescue group, or even a vet office (they usually have billboards up for people to post on).
  2. NEW YORK – Police were reviewing video from surveillance cameras in an attempt to identify who trampled to death a Wal-Mart worker after a crowd of post-Thanksgiving shoppers burst through the doors at a suburban store and knocked him down. Criminal charges were possible, but identifying individual shoppers in Friday's video may prove difficult, said Detective Lt. Michael Fleming, a Nassau County police spokesman. Other workers were trampled as they tried to rescue the man, and customers stepped over him and became irate when officials said the store was closing because of the death, police and witnesses said. At least four other people, including a woman who was eight months pregnant, were taken to hospitals for observation or minor injuries. The store in Valley Stream on Long Island closed for several hours before reopening. Police said about 2,000 people were gathered outside the Wal-Mart doors before its 5 a.m. opening at a mall about 20 miles east of Manhattan. The impatient crowd knocked the employee, identified by police as Jdimytai Damour, to the ground as he opened the doors, leaving a metal portion of the frame crumpled like an accordion. "This crowd was out of control," Fleming said. He described the scene as "utter chaos," and said the store didn't have enough security. Dozens of store employees trying to fight their way out to help Damour were also getting trampled by the crowd, Fleming said. Shoppers stepped over the man on the ground and streamed into the store. Damour, 34, of Queens, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 6 a.m., police said. The exact cause of death has not been determined. A 28-year-old pregnant woman was taken to a hospital, where she and the baby were reported to be OK, said police Sgt. Anthony Repalone. Kimberly Cribbs, who witnessed the stampede, said shoppers were acting like "savages." "When they were saying they had to leave, that an employee got killed, people were yelling `I've been on line since yesterday morning,'" she said. "They kept shopping." Wal-Mart Stores Inc., based in Bentonville, Ark., called the incident a "tragic situation" and said the employee came from a temporary agency and was doing maintenance work at the store. It said it tried to prepare for the crowd by adding staffers and outside security workers, putting up barricades and consulting police. "Despite all of our precautions, this unfortunate event occurred," senior Vice President Hank Mullany said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those impacted." I hope they are able to identify the people who started this whole thing and charge them accordingly. A woman reported being trampled by overeager customers at a Wal-Mart opening Friday in Farmingdale, about 15 miles east of Valley Stream, Suffolk County police said. She suffered minor injuries, but finished shopping before filling the report, police said. Shoppers around the country line up early outside stores on the day after Thanksgiving in the annual bargain-hunting ritual known as Black Friday. It got that name because it has historically been the day when stores broke into profitability for the full year. Items on sale at the Valley Stream Wal-Mart included a Samsung 50-inch Plasma HDTV for $798, a Bissel Compact Upright Vacuum for $28, a Samsung 10.2 megapixel digital camera for $69 and DVDs such as "The Incredible Hulk" for $9. Finished shopping before filing a report???
  3. I definately noticed a different trend this year. The big ticket stores like BB and CC had lines of less than half of previous years. Target and Walmart were insane, I have never seen Walmart so crazy on any other bf. I guess it's a sign of the ecomomy .
  4. I got 2 of PS3 wireless controllers :) Thanks for posting this! I also picked up a couple of the Wii lightsabers to go with the Star Wars game.
  5. This is so sad . Ultimately it is the crowd who is responsible for this mans death, but since this seems to happen at Walmart every year, you would think they would have some kind of security measures in place. Couldn't they only let so many people in at a time, to avoid the whole mad rush?
  6. I agree! It was very organized this year! I thought the ticket system was great and worked really well. They also had a lot of stock on the ticketed items. We got to Target about 10 minutes before they opened, the line around the building, and were still able to get any tickets we wanted. In and out very quickly. Target is usually good on bf, but this year they were extra good.
  7. I have never seen our Walmart like it was today, EVER! It was so packed, people were much ruder than in past years, they didn't have all the lanes open, and they wouldn't pricematch anything today. I usually have a good shopping experience there, but this year was much different. They did have a good ad out and I think that lured alot more shoppers.
  8. My Penney's always has 2 giant box displays at each door with the snowglobes in it. I have been able to get one for the past 4 years by getting there when the doors open. This is the first year I have signed up for the Penney's wake up call so I guess we'll see how that goes.
  9. I LOVE your name!!! I am a mommy to a Ryan too! I usually get to Penney's right when they open and there is maybe 10-20 people already there. I think 4 am will probably be alright and you should be able to get whatever you need.
  10. I am missing KB Toys and KMart ( I think that one might have came in the mail yesterday and I haven't checked yet).
  11. One the front page of our Walmart ad is states that they will pricematch. I wonder if all the ads are the same (I would think they would be)? If you have that ad I would take that in to the store.
  12. Got the paper this morning and there is the Walmart ad in it.
  13. My ds8 really wants the Goosebumps game. The problem is I haven't seen it anywhere. He wants in for the XBox preferably, but also has a Playstation 3 and Wii, so it dosen't matter too much if I can't find it for the XBox. Has anyone seen this game anywhere? TIA
  14. Walmart always has tons of DVD's . You can usually find what you are looking for with no problem.
  15. I will hopefully be out of Walmart by 5:15 and head straight over to target.
  16. My Walmart always has tons of bf items. I could go there at 5pm and still get everything I need, minus the big ticket items.
  17. I would never ever spend that amount of time camping out, my time is much to valuable to save a couple hundred bucks. I think alot of people enjoy it though and do it more for fun than to save money.
