  1. If you want "Kid Friendly", I would go with the Nabi 2. It is a 7" kids tablet and a couple of places has them for $129. It isn't going to work as well as a full blown tablet like the Samsung tab or Nexus, but it will work great for a kid. There are already some (paid) games preloaded on it also. It also comes with a kid-proof case and is less likely to be broken. I would not consider a nook, kindle or iPad for a 4 year old. As an aside: There are SD cards that you can purchase that go into a Nook that turn them into a true, fully open android tablet. They run about $25. You stick them into the card slot and turn the tablet on to run them.
  2. Actually, you don't need to worry about a required data plan unless you purchase it from a cellular provider (ATT, TMobile, Verizon, Sprint, etc.). EVERY tablet will be wifi capable. Even the super cheap Chinese knock-offs like the sold out $50 tablet from Walmart. Good 10 inch tablets will (typically) run you into the $400 range. The Samsung Galaxy series are very good tablets at decent prices. The Samsung Galaxy Note series is a little more upscale from the plain Galaxy series. They offer a 7 and 10 in the plain Galaxy and a 6, 8, and 10 in the Galaxy Note series. You may want to check with your DD about what size they actually would like as a 10 can get bulky. They may actually prefer the 7 and are willing to trade off screen size for portability.
  3. Since this new forum added the "Like" button, how about a contest for the most "liked" deal posted? There could be a time frame associated with this. Perhaps a week or so.
  4. Touch screen laptops work well with the Windows 8 stuff. The touch works just like you would expect on a tablet. You can use the touch like a mouse. Some of the touch laptops fold over where you can use it like a tablet. I would lean toward a touch screen if I were using Windows 8 anyway.
  5. My wife is a nurse and I used to work in retail. I feel sorry for the employees that are forced to work, but the "FEELING" of Thanksgiving can be on any day. After all, the actual DAY changes each year! When I was in retail, I jumped at the chance to work on a holiday. It meant time and a half and usually an extra 8 hours of pay that we could either take off or just have added to our checks. As retail does not pay very much, I always took what extra I could. It meant I could give my son a larger Christmas than I would have otherwise. Some of the employees have selected that as their career. They know that they will be required to work on many of the holidays. I will be out shopping on Thanksgiving. Even though it means larger crowds, I end up more rested on Friday. I am switching to more online shopping as the crowds are filling the lines at checkout and making store-to-store transitions longer. I pick up what I can online and then head out with a short list for the fun. For everyone who refuse to shop on Thanksgiving, here is a scenario for you: Do you feel bad for the employees of the firework vendors that stay open and work long hours on July 4 and New Years Eve? What about the liquor store employees on New Years Eve? Don't you think that they would enjoy going to the parties also? With your logic, perhaps we should not have fireworks on July 4 and avoid parties on New Years Eve!
  6. That is just a generic (no name) brand tablet. You can find these for much cheaper than $110. I bought my daughter one of these for about $70. I expect you to get one under $50 on Black Friday. It should take a memory card. If they mention "transflash" or "TF" card, that is the same as an SD memory card (or micro SD). My daughter's did, but it was only good for storing photos, not the apps. 4 GB memory is VERY small. I would suggest getting at least 8GB and preferably 16GB. They cost more, but if you load more than 5-6 games, all 4GB are going to be filled up. The charging port also broke after about 4 months. There is no warranty. IF we can get it to charge, it works fine still.
  7. Finally! Now I will stare at that ad to get my "fix".
  8. 1. Thinking: OMG! I am late for Kohls! 2. Break it up! We have plenty of towels. This isn't Walmart! 3. Lines! Lines! Everywhere there's lines!
  9. If target still has their price match policy, you can sometimes buy the Black Friday stuff a week or so early and just wander in before the deal-time is up (after your other shopping is complete!) and get a refund of the difference. Worked great for me on a TV several years ago. It was nice to walk in about noon and a receipt and walk out with cash-in-hand.
  10. I think near the end of this week. Probably Half Price Books.
  11. A new one already did come out. It has an upgraded processor, upgraded screen and added a camera to the back. It costs $229 on the Google Play store. My DS has a Samsung 2. It is a very nice tablet. I believe that the price will drop on it on BF. There is a Samsung 3 that is currently out. The prices you are seeing are the clearance prices. They may drop them to $99 to clear out the last of them. YMMV
  12. Why not have the back say "If you can read this..." with the QR code on it. Maybe with the logo on the back. Like this: If you can read this Logo or QR code I probably got your doorbuster Maybe integrate the QR code into the logo. What about putting the 10 years on the sleeve?
  13. You should get a nexus 7. It is a very good tablet and runs $225. You can get it from the Google Play store. Another option would be the Samsung Tab 7. Those run $199 typically. Right now, the 2nd edition is on clearance at Walmart for $139. If you can find it, the Asus MEMO tablet isn't too bad. It runs about $110. But I would probably pay the extra $30 and get the Tab. Don't get a no-name brand for under $100. Those get poor tech support. http://www.walmart.com/browse/ipad-ereaders/tablet-pcs/3944_1078524_1078084/?_refineresult=true&facet=price%3A%24100+-+%24150&povid=cat1078524-env377582-moduleB122512-lLinkZone2ShopTabletsByPrice2100to150
  14. http://www.frys.com/product/7533276?site=sa:adpages%20page:P2_FRI%20date:030813 $448 through Thursday. I've had my Acer with about the same specs for about a year now. No problems at all. If you have a Fry's Electronics locally, you can take a look too.
  15. Coupon for buy 1 dozen get another dozen free. Not bad if you eat alot of donuts.
  16. Out of 8 buttons, we got 2 $10 certificates. We were told 2 buttons PER TRANSACTION. They wouldn't give any to us just for asking. Is asking YMMV?
  17. How about having a pop up for the gottadeal app (apple/android) when you browse to the site using one of these OS? I thought I remember you doing this when it was first released. You can still leave them in their stores, too. If it is too much of a resource hog, just do it during BF. (I know, that is when you need the resources the most!) It may be helpful to the kindle users who have no intention of adding the Play store to their device.

Just ask before you give. Some retail places don't allow the employees to accept tips. Sometimes "forced" tips will go into a pool that is eventually used for a store party (usually just disappears) and sometimes the employee is just fired (depends on manager.) When I worked retail, I would refuse tips that just went into the pool because we never saw the benefits.
  19. How does this one sound? http://www.tigerdirect.com/sectors/campaigns/kube/kubex15.asp
  20. Thanks Brad! Got mine today! Actually, it was ordered for DW, but the extra shirt fits me! WOOT!
  21. Can we get this stickyed? It would be nice to find them easy.
  22. My favorite part is the excitement of the crowd. It has become a holiday in our home.
