  1. When I worked retail, I heard rumors about the employees being able to check out customers with their electronic ordering guns. Similar to baby/wedding registries, except the employees do it for you (2-3) to prevent theft. Then have the people pay with Credit Cards. This way, the lines would progress faster because the retailers would be able to "open" more checkout lanes. A couple of years ago, Staples would have employees walking down the checkout lines and would scan your items for you. They would print out a "receipt" and you would give this to the actual cashier. The cashier would scan a barcode on the "receipt" and the computer would bring up the whole transaction so you could pay quickly. This helped a little, but being able to pay when the employee actually scanned you would have speeded up the process even more.
  2. Have you considered a "Smartphone"? One less gadget to carry around...
  3. If you have a Hobby Lobby near, they have some neat science stuff. DS9 got a cool dig-up-your-own-dinosaur-fossil kit from there. Make sure that he does it outside tho. It makes a big mess.
  4. KNOW the store's Price Match Policy!!! No use arguing with them (unless they have changed their mind) if their policy won't allow PMs. Sometimes Black Friday is an exception to the policy. If their policy allows PM on their own ad for 2 weeks (Target) purchase your items the weekend BEFORE and walk in there after you are finished shopping and get your money back! This will save you a store and possibly waiting in line when you can be at a different store. If you are camping out at multiple stores, have 1 person available to run between stores and bring you food/coffee while you are waiting. Put your cellphone on VIBRATE (with or without ring) and put it in a pocket. Unless you have a VERY loud and annoying ring, you may not be able to hear it in the excitement and crowd.
  5. I should win one because my wife would wear it until she has the baby, then I would wear it when we go out. Of course, I would wear it while camping out in line this year.
  6. I read a review a while back that compared the Monster brand to other brands of HDMI cables. The Monoprice.com ones were top rated AND they were the cheapest! The review's conclusion stated that there was virtually NO difference between the cheaper cables and the super expensive Monster brand.
  7. ATT and TMobile are both GSM type phones. You don't have to let the carrier know what the IMEI number is at all. They are only able to read the sim anyways. I've used many ebay phones for my Tmobile service. If you ever get mad at your hubby for breaking his phone and want to make him suffer for a few days, you CAN get one cheaper off of ebay. It just may take a few days to find the "right" deal.
  8. PNY brand 8800 GTS at Newegg.com for 127.58 using Pricewatch.com. eVGA 8800GTS at TigerDirect.com for 229.74 (I think they own CompUSA now) Newegg is $2 more eVGA 9800 GTX (comparable to the 8800gts) is 207.xx at NewEgg. Save yourself $20+ per card with the same performance. You also make your nagging friend happy. Also allows for -3- in SLI with the right Mobo.
  9. To select a phone that really suits you, I suggest going here: http://www.gsmarena.com/search.php3 You can then look up the phone(s) on ebay to get what you REALLY want. Be SURE and check the CONDITION!!!! Also, you may want to check to see if it is LOCKED to a carrier. If so, you will need to get it unlocked (if it is not cingular/ATT). Ebay is cheaper and offers phones that you wouldn't be able to get normally. I've found that it is cheaper for me to purchase the phone I want off of Ebay rather than using my "trade-up credits". But there are phones there that have rolled half a football field's length accross a gravel parkinglot, ran over, then cleaned off in a toilet. You can get good deals there, just check the condition of the phone BEFORE you bid! Look at all the pics closely and ask questions. Good luck!
  10. As for the nagging friend, here is a link that may help you decide that answer.... http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/graphics-cards,1942-5.html They have lots of reviews/comparisons to help you choose which items will work better for you.
  11. FREE photo nightlight! Just pay Shipping! http://www.1saleaday.com/
  12. All I got was the image. $13 total sounds good too! Can you give the link to the store again?
  13. Anyone able to find a really good deal on one of these? It's the one where your pictures are loaded on your keychain. Good for new parents and (all) grandparents. I think they usually run about $30. Thanks!
  14. Check surrounding stores also for clearanced ones. A month ago, I saw an 80 gal one for $100. Unfortunately, it didn't fit my house...
  15. I bought mine Saturday. It is a good TV. I think the issues with the managers not approving the PM on Black Friday are their own ideas. If you get turned away when you do go in to PM, then try another Target or try a different manager.
  16. I did an "Easy Rebate" last year for my 19" monitor. It was easy to put in, but it took almost 6 months to get it back. It also gave me lots of SPAM! I'm not sure if I would do another at Staples just because of those reasons.
  17. Target puts up endcaps of whatever product in the correct area. You may find some items on the endcaps at the registers too, but usually only the movies. The doorbusters and larger items that they think they will sell alot of quickly will be on pallets in softlines. They will have employees dedicated to pulling pallets out as the items sell. They try to keep everything close to the original areas and they are very anal about making every Target as close to the same as possible. When I worked there, it seemed dumb to get in snow shovels in southern Texas. :)
  18. All game consoles (including the DS Lite) never really go on sale. They are always the same price (currently $129 new). The best you can hope for is a "package" deal with several interesting games with it. You can try a place like Game Stop and get a used one or go with a generic deal (like Target's 10% off).
