I found it odd that they chose that department since most put their movies in the produce section of all places!

Let's think about that from a shopper's perspective. Unattended carts with junk are everywhere. "Oh, look, a Lego tower and it is just sitting there!" Rudeness would enter into it only if the person saw her leave the cart there and they had in fact KNOWN the intention of the person leaving it where she did. I am interested in knowing if your email for the 50 inch was sent to elite members only.

I hate to sound rude, but you never leave anything unattended at Walmart and this goes for ANY day of the year. Leaving the item unattended was YOUR fault, not the associates.

I started out the week ordering the windows 8 tablet. I almost got the cheaper tablets but waited. The overall experience from an elite's perspective was underwhelming compared to last year. They seemed to blur the lines and did not definitively tell you when and where to be like last year. It left me in a guarded mood for t he rest of the week. I started to buy items online to save time and kept getting a slow response from their servers on early Thursday. How little did I know just how fortunate I was to buy early! One positive was the free WIFI provided by Best Buy. When the Thursday event started, they tried to limit tickets and acted like the National Socialists party when asking all too personal questions like family connections and "do you have your own money". We decided to fight back since this attack definitely came from the new GM, not the ill-trained staff. After we threw page 16 and corporate policy back into their faces, they backed right off. Next came another shocker. Only 4 ticketed items!!!! I do not know if this was corporate wide, but even with last year's 3 event sale, they had plenty of ticketed items! This meant that if you did not take advantage of their online component then they were forcing you to make a mad dash for the items that you were assured would be door busters. Here is where it gets even more frustrating. Sales associates were running around telling customers that certain non-ticketed items were door busters and they were limited to one per customer. I yelled to the crowd that they(Best Buy) could not do that, and the associate quickly withdrew and then the customers bought what they wanted. It had seemed that the store thought that they could be throwing their own standard around, allegedly due to fairness. The advantage of being in the store has always been to get what you want now, and only ticketed items had restrictions. Now unbelievably, the rules had changed and Best Buy was trying to pull a fast one and have it both ways. Another black eye for Best Buy was the television sales. The $199 LED was in fact, an LED edge lit LCD TV. This borders on fraud in my book. My overall impression was that they took a huge cargo ship and traveled back in time to 2009 to collect all of the 720p and 60hz televisions to perpetuate the scam on 2014 customers. Here was the final blow to the abdomen with the TV show and Bluray sale. Unlike Walmart, they purported to have a mix of over 150 items that I was absolutely stoked about. The truth was that they had understocked the midway kiosks and anything else was not clearly marked, as if they never intended to sell it in the first place. My distaste for buying much more than I had to was now confirmed, and I was out of there in a record setting 37 minutes. Part 2 to be continued........

We are set up in Jacksonville on the north side as of 3 am Monday. There are other tents on the south side of Jacksonville now.

Orange park Best Buy has a tent as of 3pm. Florida.

http://www.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/8178/5465149?wpid=8989 It looks like two from Illinois will take the bronze. Moline, Ill reporting in.....

Walmart's offering has no effect upon the camping ethic. Walmart does not promote the same ticketing model, therefore, the absence of tents.

They are professional agitators, like the ones sent to stir the pot in Missouri. Instead of body-slamming grandpa, the police need to bring a paddy wagon for the troublemakers.
-
Most retail establishments do not play that way. One possible reason is that it would out them in regards to limited quantities and they want to stay clear of that.

http://www.keyt.com/news/dedicated-shoppers-already-camping-out-for-black-friday/29776738 Yet another California entry into the Fray from Santa Maria.

The problem with trading out is that stores do not normally enforce rules especially if the people are well known to the store. The other person trading out at Best Buy in Florida goes by the name Valentine.
-
With Florida now reporting, will our Diehard campers from Ohio be far behind? We will see who takes the bronze this year, so stay tuned!

When people trade out, there is a problem from the purist's viewpoint. I will stay the majority of the time,(showers, you know) along with a few others. The only reason they can do this so far out is to trade out, which would make anyone mad because they are manipulating the system. If you have been able to trace the last 3-4 years in Fort Myers, then you would know that two other families were in competition with each other. This guy was there, and was #3 for the last two years running. It is a classic case of one-upmanship. You either have to yield and go to a less competitive spot, or arrive earlier each year.

That just doesn't seem right, sorry. Monopoly is perfect the way it is.

Stop in and see the new digs! We set it up just today for a dry run.

I believe last year you started the thread much earlier.

Have you ever or Would you ever Camp Out for Black Friday Deals?

We always shop for the limited doorbusters like that TV. It is just not something i would keep unless my plan for the back porch goes into full swing. -
You would have to read the ad to find out for sure, but most loss leaders like that require line time.

Did you bring a tent? Did you sleep over? I would also argue that many of the deals have only gotten better. It is only the perception based upon old memories of good times that has people thinking that the old days were markedly better. We have all of the data from the past 10 years at our fingertips, yet few bother to check the old ads. -

Those who camp will always camp, no matter which day that the event falls on. There seems to be a misconception that leads people to believe that with the earlier start times, the need for camping goes away. If anything, we have seen just the opposite. -
Jacksonville FL. Best Buy. Anyone care to join us or visit?

Hey Klown! Good to have you back. I would take it back as soon as possible, unless you have an extended return period as an Elite member.

That is the unfortunate part of a limited time offer. From past experience, you have to activate the phone since the contract starts on the day of purchase. Walmart sells those cheap phones where you can use them for a short time and then put them up as a backup if a smart phone breaks. You can always get sneaky and take the old phone into "maintenance", returning with the cheap phone as a loner until the phone is "repaired". In actuality, you would take the sim card out of the newly activated phone and put it into the cheap phone until Christmas.
