  1. I'm pretty sure that Target.com and Target stores are two separate things. I don't think they can price adjust items that were bought online.
  2. I'm looking at the Aiptek one from Target for $70. Like you, I don't need a ton of different features. I just need something that's going to record video. The Aiptek brand of camcorders has received mixed reviews. I've noticed some people have commented on how quickly it goes through batteries but good quality camera batteries should solve that problem. I think that's the best deal I've seen so far.
  3. I was stuck on what to get my cousin for Christmas and I decided to look up restaurants in her area and found one that she goes to often. I got two $10 gift cards for $1.20. They have to spend $20 to use them but they would've ended up spending over $20 anyway.
  4. There are only a few differences: 1. The drums for Rockband 2 are easier to operate. Not only is the foot pedal easier to push but the drum pads are made so that they are much quieter. 2. The guitar looks a little different. Not a huge difference but still. 3. With Rockband 2, not only are there more songs but you can also import songs from Rockband 1. 4. You mentioned that Rb2 is wireless. I personally play close to my TV but the wires do limit how far you can go and they do get in the way. 5. A couple of other new features for Rb2 include being able to play as an entire band with other bands online. Also, Rb2 has a store in which you can buy different clothes and different instruments for the band. Personally, I think Rb2 is just like Rb1 only with a few improvements. There aren't major differences. It just depends on how often you'll play in my opinion.
  5. Not to mention that you get an extra month for free. This is a great deal and I've bought one of these from Amazon before. If any of you are getting 360s for Christmas, I suggest getting one of these. For those who don't know, Xbox Live allows you to play online with other people and it also allows you to download other games and features. I'll give you an example: If you bought Rock Band 2 for the 360, you can download extra songs with Xbox Live and your band can play other bands online. It's pretty cool.
  6. Depends. Is only one person going to play or multiple people? If only one person will be playing, I think the only real difference is the songs. There's a ton more to do in Rock Band than Guitar Hero. If multiple people are playing, Rock Band hands down.
  7. I agree. My friend's niece is on the Holiday Angels list and when I told my friend about this, she was shocked because it's not like her family is poor and can't afford gifts for her. I just wish there could be a way of picking out the ones who really are in need. Last year, I noticed quite a few kids asking for expensive gifts. The two children I chose asked for clothes and inexpensive toys. One child on my sister's (the social worker) list asked for Nintendo DS games and I told my sister that I thought it was wrong to ask for such expensive things. She told me that the girl was 12 years old and tried to kill herself half a dozen times. And another 15 year old boy on her list asked for underwear, deoderant, and other toiletries like that. See, I'd immediately go for a kid like that but my sister told me that the kid is in jail. I'm probably still going to participate in this program this year but I'll try to look into other programs as well. Or I'll just donate to Toys for Tots. We'll see.
  8. The OP said that the cashier was frazzled. When I worked at Target in the electronics department on busy days, I've had customers leave bags of expensive items at the counter. Would I put these items back on the shelf and say "oh well" because the customer made a mistake and left them? No, I'd keep the bag behind the counter in case he/she returned. Shouldn't it work the other way as well? Cashiers are people too. They make mistakes. Best Buy might be able to afford it but with the economy as crappy as it is right now, I don't think the cashier could afford it if he/she lost their job. I'm sorry but my conscience would tell me to do the honest thing and go back in the store and pay for the item.
  9. Are you going to help her financially? If not, as a current college student, I can tell you that the best gift she can receive IS gift cards to places like grocery stores, book stores, office supply stores, and stores like Target or Walmart. That way, she can pick out exactly what she wants and she doesn't have to drag all of those gifts with her. And btw, congrats to your daughter!
  10. I've had both a DS and a PSP. I have to say that the DS is more cutesy and more catered to children. If you look at the games, yeah, there are puzzle games and adult-catered games but not much. The PSP in my opinion is more for adults and older kids. I first bought the DS just because it was cheaper but I wasn't thrilled with the selection of games and the graphics. I ended up selling my DS and bought a PSP instead which has far better graphics, better games, and more options (I've uploaded music onto it successfully and I've watched movies on it as well). Overall, I think the PSP is a better choice for a teen or adult. And btw, if it helps, I bought my DS when I was 17 and I bought my PSP when I was 19. I'm 21 now and still use my PSP when I'm going on vacation.
  11. When I worked at Target over a year ago, I only got to see a black and white copy of the ad about a week or two before BF. Now, I'm sure that department managers have a heads up on sale items far more in advance than the regular employees but I think regular employees have to do some snooping in order to find out what's on sale. My store manager was extremely strict about who could see the ad. The only reason why I got to see it is because I was in charge of setting up some endcaps with sale items for BF.
  12. If the reviews at Amazon aren't enough, go to gamespot.com to see other reviews (it got a 8.5/10) plus pictures. Once I saw the pics, I clicked "add to cart". Can't beat a game shipped for $8.54. Especially an Xbox 360 game.
  13. Having worked at Target for two years (although I haven't worked there for about a year and a half now) and having worked through two holiday seasons, a sure sign that the holidays are coming up is the addition of risers. For those who don't know, risers are additional shelves located on top of the shelving area to place additional product on. You may have specifically noticed that an additional shelf is added to each aisle in the toy department during the holiday season. If you're interested, here's how it works... Target has a huge backroom in every store to backstock items that don't fit on the shelves. During the holiday season, an extra amount of toys, holiday items, and gift items are ordered and there is no room in the backroom to place them. Soooo here's where the risers come in. Risers are used to place additional stock on. Well, apparently this year, many, many stores will not have these risers put on. If your store does not have risers, it's a good sign that your store will not have a lot of toys coming in this holiday season. So if you plan on doing some toy shopping on BF and your Target doesn't have risers, I'd personally find another store to shop at because there's a good chance that hot toy items will sell out quickly.
  14. My family is still trying to decide if we're going to skip out on gifts for each other and just participate in the Holiday Angels program this year. A couple of us want to do the Holiday Angel thing and a couple of us are selfish and want to receive gifts. Here's my list of people I'm going to buy for if we ditch the Holiday Angels thing: Mom Dad Sister (23) Sister (21) Sister's Fiancee Pets (2 dogs and 3 birds) 3 Friends One of my friend's kids (Gabby and Gracie are 1 and Emma was born in October) One of my friend's niece (Kloei is 1) My cousin and her two children (Sofia is 2 and Gavin will be born in February) Another cousin I might also participate in my Secret Santa at work
  15. So my older sister is a social worker and when she came home from work tonight, I saw a stack of papers on the table with pictures of angels on them. I asked my sister what they were for and she told me that her agency has started to work on the holiday angels program where the social workers place little cards on Christmas trees with descriptions of a child and their wishlist and the public can pick a child and buy gifts for them. I remember there was a thread last year dedicated to this program so I figured I'd start one for this holiday season. Is anyone else participating?
  16. Actually, I don't work at Target. Second, if you make a habit out of misplacing receipts that IS being lazy and irresponsible. And if you do lose your receipt, feeling as though you are still entitled to return the item anyway is wrong. Third, I'm not agitated with customers because I don't deal with returns. It has nothing to do with my current job. I've always been taught to keep receipts and not to complain if I lost the receipt and can't return the item because people are given receipts so that they can return things. It's the customer's responsibility to hang onto their receipt. Yes, I agree that different managers sometimes change the policy if they want but I would NEVER complain if one manager was willing to break their policy in order to help me and the next time a manager stuck by the policy. Return policies are posted in the store. You know what the policy is. By buying items at a store, you are agreeing to the policy. If you can't remember to place a receipt somewhere safe, then don't shop at stores that require receipts for returns. Simple. People seem to forget that stores don't HAVE to allow returns.
  17. Still, 32 days is 2 days over the limit. Disliking Best Buy for not sticking to their policy is kinda weird. Some customers expect retailers to break their store policy for them when all the customer needs to do is keep a piece of paper and return it within a certain amount of time. It's not that hard. I still work in retail and it floors me when people complain about "strict" return policies. If it's so "strict", wouldn't that make you try even harder to make sure you keep your receipt? Where I work, people take things right off the shelf without buying them and try to return them. The store is not going to lose tons of money just because some customers are irresponsible and/or lazy.
  18. I figured I'd make a list of ideas I have to get my creative juices flowing. I haven't bought anything yet nor will I be buying everything on this list. I'm hoping that by posting this, some of you will help me in finding good deals. I'll update this post when I begin shopping. 19. Every year for the past 5 years it has been silver, gold and some burgundy but this year we bought all new ornaments so it's red and green this year with clear lights.
  20. I'd recommend not getting the arcade version because you're going to need to buy a seperate hard drive (which costs $100) if you want to save any games. Go with the premium version. I got mine on ebay for around $155 (although it was refurbished). Generally, video game consoles don't go on sale. If you get a deal on it, it'll be maybe a free game or a gift card.
  21. Wow! You guys are awesome. I'm in the process of coming up with ideas but I haven't bought one thing yet. I'll probably start in the beginning of November.
  22. Just found this one... http://gadizmo.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/photoframe.jpg Personalized Standing Light for your Favorite Photos http://www.lightaffection.com/ Price: $39-$239 This is awesome. Basically, you send in a picture, they carve it, assemble it onto a lamp, and the finished product is basically a framed picture that glows.
  23. This year I'm going with my mom, my two sisters, and a friend. I think it's best to have at least one person with you who is just as excited as you are but having too many people can become chaotic.
  24. [Mods-If I put this in the wrong forum, please move it for me. Thanks!] Every Christmas, I stress about the perfect gift. I only have 10 or so people on my list to shop for but I'm not going to shell out my hard earned cash on something that they might not like. So months before Christmas, I search for unique gifts that will not only wow the gift recipient but also be something that they will actually use (if you look in my parent's closet, you'll see countless gifts from previous Christmases that are still in the box they came in). I worked at Target two years ago and we had these egg and english muffin toaster things (essentially an egg mcmuffin sandwich maker) that we kept on a display and before the holidays began, I often thought to myself that these machines were pointless and no one would ever buy them. I remember that the week of Christmas that year, we sold out of all of them because a lot of people were trying to find a unique gift at the last minute and that particular item was, well, unique. We all have someone on our list who is hard to shop for. Either this person has everything, or you don't know much about this person's interests, or you're like me and like to give unique gifts to everyone on your list. I thought it would be neat to start a thread where we could post unique gift ideas and hopefully get our creative juices flowing. Let me start with a few things I currently have on my list... http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/416XT8JXZ5L._SL500_AA280_.jpg FoodSaver V2840 Advanced Design http://www.amazon.com/Food-Saver-T000-03502-001-FoodSaver-Advanced/dp/B000AANXDG/ref=br_lf_m_1000153881_2_35_ttl?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=kitchen&pf_rd_p=333071601&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_i=1000153881&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0ZHSFQCHEBX8X54B16J8 Price: $139.35 & this item ships for FREE with Super Saver Shipping at Amazon Not necessarily creative but my mom stores everything in the freezer and almost everything she puts in there gets freezer burn. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.coolest-gadgets.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/homerhead.jpg Homer Head Jigsaw Puzzle http://www.coolest-gadgets.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/homerhead.jpg Price: About $50 My older sister and her fiancee love the Simpsons and this puzzle is certainly different. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.coolest-gadgets.com/wp-content/uploads/margaritaville.jpeg Original Margaritaville Margarita Maker http://www.frontgate.com/jump.jsp?sort=-1&itemID=3615&itemType=PRODUCT&AS=1&keyword=margaritaville Price: $299 plus free shipping at the link above My mom loves margaritas. Now she can make her own at home. $299 is pretty expensive for one of these but I've seen cheaper ones at Target (I believe). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.coolest-gadgets.com/wp-content/uploads/pandigital-kitchen-technology-center.jpg Pandigital Kitchen Technology Center http://www.coolest-gadgets.com/20080626/pandigital-kitchen-technology-center/#more-14917 Price: $400 I want one of these for my mom really, really bad. It's basically a touch screen computer that stores all of your recipes. I thought that $400 was too much for one of these so I tried searching for others but I can't find any that are cheaper. If you see one, let me know!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.coolest-gadgets.com/wp-content/uploads/fitbit1.jpg FitBit Trainer http://www.fitbit.com/ Price: $99 This little device clips onto your belt of whatever you want to clip it to and it tracks your calories consumed, calories burned, sleep times, and much more. My older sister loves to work out so this would be great for her. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/Hammacher/75921?wid=200 Finger Drum Mousepad http://www.hammacher.com/publish/75921.asp?promo=new_items&cm_ven=CJ&cm_pla=1781363&cm_ite=Hammacher+Schlemmer&cm_cat=1511450 Price: $40 My sister's fiancee loves music. This mousepad allows you to tap on it to create drum noises so you'll have something to do while waiting for your internet pages to load. And you can hook it up to your mp3 player so you can play along with your favorite songs. Anybody else care to share their unique gift ideas?
