1. You know how many stores are now displaying store circulars online since many people don't get the newspaper anymore? For example: http://www.fivebelow.com/ads http://kmart.shoplocal.com/kmart/default.aspx http://staples.shoplocal.com/staples/default.aspx?action=entryflash&cmSearchKeyword=circular My rant is that when you click through for the "larger" view that it's still too small to read. Even the largest version is far too small. Most people have a 19" monitor (or larger) at this point. Where is the "full screen" option like you see on Youtube videos? I have perfect 20/15 vision, uncorrected -- why am I forced to squint?
2. Pier 1 Imports has some really unique things too, if there's one of them nearby. They just sent me an e-mail about their stocking stuffers.
3. Target items have more style... Wal-mart items are more utilitarian...
4. Best Buy had a bunch (like eight) in this week's circular.
5. My cousin in law just bought (as in today) a 16" AMD-powered Toshiba laptop running Vista Home on clearance at Radio Shack store for $329.
6. Unless you are driving in a city, the quantity of intersections (blocks) make it more challenging.

8. Considering that map updates have stayed about the same at $60 per update, I think that $90 will be about as low as name-brand basic units will go. If they made a new "nice model" $40, then they'd have to lower their map updates to $10-$15. They'll just keep adding more features to entice you to buy a new model. I think larger screens are going to be the up and coming thing and text-to-speech will become a standard feature. Some new GPS units are coming out with 7" screens. ------------- Take a look at LCD monitor pricing. When they first came out, 15" LCDs were $400. Now a 19" is $100 and 15" and 17" monitors aren't even available. Could manufacturers still make a 15" LCD for $40? Probably. But more people are willing to spend $100 and get a significantly larger monitor.
9. As others have said, a TV cannot pick up digital broadcasts while the vehicle is in motion. A portable DVD player would be a better choice. Or some cell phones can play limited TV channels for an additional monthly cost from your provider (but then you'd be watching TV on a little cell phone screen).
10. I'm not Scott. You can buy them online: Amazon, Modell's, Sports Authority, Dick's Sporting Goods and rawlingsgear.com all have them. ---- Could I also suggest something more universal for a baseball coach (or player)? Rawlingsgear.com has a Buy 2 Get 1 Free special going on till 12/16 on all their accessories: http://www.rawlingsgear.com/baseball/baseball-accessories/?page=1 Things like the Primo Glove Butter and a Glove Break-in Kit would be useful no matter what glove he chose. http://www.rawlingsgear.com/baseball/baseball-accessories/prm-btr.html http://www.rawlingsgear.com/baseball/baseball-accessories/brkit.html -------- In my opinion, trying to buy a glove for a baseball player is like trying to shoes for someone else.
11. Baseball gloves have definite different styles depending on the position he plays. Since he is the coach, I can't really tell you what glove style he'd want to use. They also come in sizes depending on the size of the player's hand. And they come in different colors.... And some people like one brand over another. It's not as cut and dry as buying someone a gift basket. This is a personal decision and something that he'd use regularly (or "live with" if you get something he isn't crazy about). If you want him to have a new glove, I strongly suggest a gift card to a sporting goods store so he can pick out what he wants. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Sports%20Exercise/thbaseball_mitt.gif Since baseball gloves range in price from about $30 for the cheapos to $350+ for pro quality, a gift card (even if not for the full cost) would help towards whatever glove your coach wants.

13. In keeping with the season... This is pretty funny: http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Holidays/HOXmasW042Ornaments.gif
14. And strange wording on a web site is a definite indicator that you are looking at a knockoff site. I realize that not everyone speaks English as a first language, but do you really want to give your credit number out to a company with glaring grammar errors such as these: http://i49.tinypic.com/14t33t2.jpg ---------- "Do not worry our web site will give you solve this problem"??? I suspect it's only the start of your problems!
15. No problem. Here is a screen capture of how that site gets around marketing UGG knockoffs as actual UGGs: http://i46.tinypic.com/116tjwy.jpg I suspect that other similar sites do the same thing, but they certainly wouldn't have to. However, even the domain name of SweatBoots.com should get people wondering. Sweat? Sweat??? As in sweatshop??? I suspect the Latvian/Chinese conglomeration probably meant to come across as "Sweet Boots".
16. Here's a story about a reporter buying (or trying to buy) a pair of UGGS from one of the many scam sites out there: More here: http://community.adn.com/adn/node/145842

18. Or you can have it shipped direct. Plenty of places have coffee gift baskets.
19. Gift basket from NostalgicCandy.com? http://www.nostalgiccandy.com/index.asp http://www.nostalgiccandy.com/ProductImages/christmas/dectin_wofcandy2.jpg
20. I tend to like artwork or crafts for people who can afford anything they might want... A pair of our friends want for nothing and have invited us out to stay with them in Escondido (San Diego area) on a fairly regular basis over the years. In addition to taking them out to dinner at least once, we also started buying them "Splashy" ceramic pieces of art/serving platters... It fit right in with their funky style. http://www.moanadesign.net/html/splashy.html Now obviously, you'd have to cater the artwork or crafts to their design style, but that's the basic idea. I'd avoid paintings since she is a painter, but certainly wood crafts, stone, metal, ceramics, etc. are appropriate. Every state has a "funky art" shop or group of shops -- start there! You can get some nice crafts for $50. Bonus: the recipient really have no firm idea of what you spent vs. a $50 gift card for a restaurant or something with a known cost, like a Wii game.
21. Price range? Relationship to person? Interests? Also... I moved this from Deal Discussion to Deal Finder since this thread is not about a specific existing deal...
22. Shipping for dumbells would be excessive. Some things are better off purchased in a store. In addition to Play It Again sports, you could also look at Modell's and Dick's Sporting Goods. But, quite honestly, K-Mart, Target and Walmart have dumbells too.
23. Take a look at this thread -- Uggs were being discussed last week: http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=160295
