  1. My nearest CVS is about 1/8th mile away... Walking distance... It's a planned stop my wife and me on Thanksgiving day, everything in the ad is on the shelves, it's relatively quiet & they always have plenty of staff to help find items in the ad.
  2. Google knows all!: http://www.ehow.com/how_4531605_choose-crock-pot.html We have a 5 quart ourselves... It came with a small 1 quart baby crock which can keep Chile con queso warm for parties. They're very handy, pretty easy to clean & last a long time...
  3. For the last few years, my Black Friday shopping has been small scale compared to what some of you guys do. CVS on Thanksgiving (sometimes with a Kmart T-Giving sale for good measure). Then on the actual day of BF, I've been going to Lowe's first, sometimes OfficeMax and definitely Pep Boys. Small change to some of you, but combined with Amazon's deals it works for me (we don't have kids). Both this year and last year I've had to work at 9 am, but I haven't felt like I missed out on anything. I don't plan on getting up much before 4 am, I have to work a full 9 hour day.
  4. Reminder: please do not discuss illlegal (or very questionable) ways to download books on this forum. The same goes for movies, software and music, of course...
  5. As far as something in an actual store -- you won't see a sale price, but you are more likely to see a combo deal with an iTunes gift card thrown in.
  6. http://consumerist.com/2010/03/sale-at-target-means-you-pay-2-extra.html ------------ Of course, maybe Mike should just buy the very same DVD from Amazon for $5.99, and eligible for free shipping?: http://www.amazon.com/Battlestar-Galactica-Edward-James-Olmos/dp/B002HRF68A/
  7. Gotta love Black Friday Gotta love Gottadeal dot com Gotta get my deals!
  8. One of the options at a Coinstar is for an Amazon gift certificate at no additional fee. It's not a true gift card, it's a voucher code, works the same, just not good for gift giving.
  9. Since we have a bunch of hard-core Target shoppers following this thread, has this ever happened at your local Target? [video=youtube_share;9q7R9qFcrbI]
  10. Without reading the specs, I would think any CVS netbook to be complete junk. Would you buy a T-bone steak dinner at IHOP? No, you'd probably go to Outback Steakhouse. Would you buy a vacuum cleaner from a 7-11? No, you'd probably go to Sears or Best Buy. Same idea...
  11. I have one in the basement... I probably paid $60 for it and it takes 4 AA batteries.
  12. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Happy/94b40016.gif Oh, how times have changed... It's funny to see the old technology & the incredible prices we used to pay... http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Happy/woohoo2.gif 133Mhz Packard Bell computers, 100Mhz laptops for $1,799.99, cassette car stereos, ancient cell phones, 28.8Kb/s dial-up modems for $99.99, conventional tube tvs, cassette and CD Walkmans, VCRs for $99.99 and up!!! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Words/wow2.gifHow about an 8X CD-ROM drive for $149.99!?!? http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Words/wow2.gif http://www.iheartchaos.com/post/10489506835/best-buy-ads-from-1996-look-like-they-might-as-well It's also interesting that the appliance prices haven't changed much at all (except for microwaves)... Note, this isn't a Black Friday ad at all... I just thought you'd get a kick out of it. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Happy/birthday_kangaroos.gif
  13. CVS will most likely be open on Thanksgiving (and we always go -- 1/4 mile from my house, everything is in stock and no waiting in line). I'm sure they'll have FREE after Extra Bucks deals. PepBoys will most likely have a deal on Rain-X Latitude Wiper Blades like they have for the past two years, along with a few 5 quarts and a filter for $x.xx after MIR (they usually have a couple, some for synthetic, some for regular oil). And coolant for cheap after MIR. I always go there... Lowe's will have crazy tool deals and will have poinsettias for $.88 like they did last year (and the plants I bought for the dealership lasted till MAY, till I got sick of them). http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Holidays/icon_cool.gif

    Where are the ads?

You should've asked him how much he gets paid to drive a Chevy, to carry around a Starbucks cup, to wear Nike shoes, Levi's Jeans, Tommy Hilfiger shirts, etc. 'Cause they all are advertisements for the various brands when it comes right down to it.

    Where are the ads?

I have the Wal-Mart ad in my sock drawer for safe keeping.
  16. When I called to set her up with XM, they wanted a code from the e-mail for the 6 months for $30. I didn't have it, of course, hence the 1 year subscription I signed up for.
  17. I just signed my wife up for the one year of XM for $77 plus tax/fees. Total = $85.32. Her birthday is tomorrow -- present = done!
  18. Looking around, apparently the best deal right now is $77 + $8 for the royalty fee for a full year, or $30 for 6 months including the royalty fee. I cancelled it on my wife's old Nissan we just traded, but I'll have to get it turned on for her new Acura. When I called to cancel, they offered to transfer over the 14 days remaining on her old plan but I was thinking that my wife would be happy with the 6-disc in-dash CD changer. Guess again! So, I'll give 'em a call and see what I can get.
  19. I'm with you on that. Last year I placed quite a few orders at Amazon and then went to Pep Boys & Lowes (of all places). The poinsettias that I bought at Lowe's for $.99 each for our dealership lasted until mid-May till I quite frankly got sick of looking at them and threw them away! But I have some DVDs from last year and the year before that I have yet to pull out of the shrinkwrap!
  20. Here you go: http://www.ehow.com/how_4870239_reformat-ipod-nano.html
  21. We went to ours over the weekend -- exactly the same, 40% off clearance but nothing worth buying.
  22. Do you have a WiFi connection at your house? Is it password-protected? Did you add the password to the netbook's wireless settings so it could connect to it?
  23. One of the things we bought my in-laws was a Philips 32" LCD HDTV for their living room. I then moved their 27" tube tv to their bedroom, which replaced a 19" tube tv that I moved to their spare room, which replaced an absolutely ancient 19" tube tv that I'll be taking to Goodwill for them. Upgrades all around! I normally don't get service plans, but Target had a 3-year no-questions-asked plan for $29, so we bought that for them too.
