  1. By the time I paid you for shipping to my house it wouldn't be worthwhile...
  2. It's not my browser... I tried both Firefox and Chrome. I even tried my Android phone. It's $11.99 everywhere for me. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Angry/hissyfit.gif
  3. Is The Crow coming up at regular price for everyone else too? It should be $4.99 but it comes up as $11.99 -- I'm in the right "time period" and the other movies are the correct price. Could someone check for me? http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?tag=gottadeal-20&docId=1000747021
  4. I hope you are feeling better today, Dev!
  5. Rubyrain --- of the ones you listed, i5 are the best, followed by i3 and then with the "legacy" Intel Pentiums pulling up the rear.... Source: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/public-roadmap-article.html (page 11)
  6. Don't forget about the hour time difference (PST --> EST). Fortunately, I can use my work computer for this kind of stuff. We have some freedom as long as it's within reason.
  7. I agree with Cindy. I wouldn't dare go to BB on BF for a camera unless you could buy it online.
  8. No offense taken -- just wasn't sure if I had said some sort of cliche.
  9. Actually -- tehlilone is partially correct. I know of no Netbooks that have a CD-rom. For instance, the ENTIRE lineup of Netbooks at Newegg.com lack a CD or DVD drive. The lack of extras is part of what makes them Netbooks (and allows them to be so light/small/slim/power-sipping devices). Fortunately, there are plenty of external USB drives available starting at $29.99: http://www.newegg.com/store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=420&Tpk=external%20dvd%20drive%7cdvd%20drive%7cexternal%20dvd If you want the CD drive to be built-in, then you'll want to look at laptops exclusively.
  10. Tablets running Android will not be able to play games on websites. There are plenty of games available for Android, don't get me wrong, but they won't be the same ones she is used to playing on a Windows-based computer. Tablets run Apps (whether they are games or other types), which are programs designed specifically for an Android system. You can surf websites, of course, but they won't play the interactive games on websites that she is used to. Based on what you are telling us, you should look at a Netbook.
  11. Here's a nice and extremely thorough review from Engadget on the Kindle Fire: http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/14/amazon-kindle-fire-review/ (and a few hands-on video reviews on that page too!)
  12. Radically. It's like comparing French to Swahili. The App market for WebOS is even smaller than that of Blackberry. Since the HP Touchpads are for all intents and purposes discontinued, do not expect many new apps to join the pool of possibilities. Also, do not expect new updates or features to be added to existing WebOS Apps.
  13. Google is your friend: http://www.jumpinjammerz.com/ http://www.pajamacity.com/ http://www.footedpajamas.com/ http://www.bigfeetpjs.com/ More?: https://www.google.com/search?gcx=w&ie=UTF-8&q=pajamas+with+feet
  14. Some good deals on DVDs -- I'll have to see if I can convince my wife that we should go...
  15. Yes, the product has been out for years but every year they improve. This year's version has a camera and a much better screen. Adding the camera is a game changer... Trust me, it's going to be a HOT item!
  16. You should play with a tablet in a store. There are no ports to "add a thumbdrive", add an external monitor, add keyboard and mouse or connect a printer. Programs (called Apps, as in applications) are added by downloading them "over the air" (typically through WiFi, unless you get a 3G-enabled tablet and a data plan). The tablet you mentioned runs Android 3.1 and is most likely a very nice tablet but you should be aware that it is NOT Windows-OS based and therefore won't run the same games as the kids are playing on Windows computers. There are plenty of Android OS games available though. And plenty of Apps to do all sorts of things. They won't be using "Word for papers", that's a Windows-based program. Though they can use Google Docs when they are on WiFi and that'll work too. It's similar but not the same as Word. I honestly can't imagine typing an entire paper on a tablet screen -- it's physically possible but they won't enjoy it. It would be better to fine tune a paper that they've written on a "real" computer or laptop. To print to a printer from a tablet you'll need an App like Printershare (though there are others): https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dynamixsoftware.printershare The age of your printer is also going to be a limiting factor -- you may need to buy a new printer with Google Cloud Print technology. I think you summed it up best yourself. Tablets really are like big smartphones -- not laptops or even netbooks.
  17. Practically non-existent in comparison with Apple iOS or Android. It's like comparing a dusting of snow to a major blizzard. But here you go: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/
  18. I have bolded what I believe is likely to be the case. Manufacturers are known for making decontented limited-run models of their regular products specifically to hit retailer's price points for BF.
  19. I would consider a 10x to be the minimum optical zoom for a "primary" camera. It makes a huge difference for those shots where you can't get any closer to the subject (at the zoo, for instance). 12x is all the better, of course.
  20. Bear in mind that the lowest toner costs might also have the least amount of toner per cartridge. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/NO/no.gif I have a Brother MFC-7820N Cat5-wired copy/scan/fax/printer (though I've never used the fax function) for years and I'm only on my first cartridge after the starter one. It is just a B&W model. I'd buy a Brother product again, no question.
  21. Compare virtually any camera to virtually any other camera: http://snapsort.com/compare This website allows you to compare the stats on any camera on sale for Black Friday against eachother, in plain English -- or -- compare your current camera to one you are considering buying. Very cool!
  22. When he gets a little older, you can help him make his own. It's so much better than the prepackaged stuff: http://www.amazon.com/Nesco-American-FD-80-Square-Shaped-Dehydrator/dp/B00179DCCQ/ http://www.amazon.com/Just-Jerky-Complete-Guide-Making/dp/0965357201
  23. We have a Sansa Sandisk Clip 4GB and two Clip+ 4GB. The + version is expandable. We love them... I've had them for years and aside from a few scratches they play as perfectly as ever. [video=youtube;GgwsWl0NZ74] Never mind the retail prices she throws out there, unlike the Apple Shuffle, there are discounted prices for the Sansa players. They've just released a 3rd generation, called the Clip Zip, with even more capabilities, and a full-color screen. All of these clip to a belt or shirt pocket. [video=youtube;fd3m4MtzUJM]
