Do you really want to know what I USED to do? I would get up, go to Wal-Mart, Kmart, Walgreens, etc from 5-6 AM, be at my part-time job at 6:00 AM to get ready for the opening at 8:00 AM, work until Noon, then drive back to my high school and keep the scorebook at 6 basketball games until about 11:00 PM that night. Yes, I was insane......

sister in law.... We usually take her van, but she sold it this year and bought a convertible, so now we will have to take my CRV, which probably won't hold as much!

Carnival vs. Royal Caribbean

try www.cruisecompete.com This site lets you put in the particulars that you want and then different travel agents send you bids for your business. Works great! -
There was a story on our local news last night that said WalMart was going to discontinue the Fabric department in some of the stores. It won't be in all stores, but they haven't said which stores will be affected yet. They will instead increase the "Celebration" department in those stores with their party goods/wedding supplies, etc.\ This is very sad for me, since I use the fabric department for my school room! I cover my bulletin boards and ceiling tiles with fabric and it wears a lot better than paper! Just thought I would give people a heads up. I'm sure they will have "closeout" prices when they start to eliminate them around!

Carnival vs. Royal Caribbean
kjunea replied to disneyaholicraquel's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
As a veteran of over 10 cruises on Carnival and RCCL, I can tell you that they both had wonderful points and not so wonderful points. I too thought that Carnival was a party ship, because the only cruise I had taken with them was a 3-night one. Then I took a 4-night RCCL and it was a party cruise too! It seems the shorter the cruise, the more partying regardless of the cruiseline! I've also noticed that Carnival is better for younger kids and RCCL is better for teens. Again, this is my own personal observation, so YMMV. My neices and nephews seemed to really love the Carnival Club, but outgrew it around the 10-12 year stage and found more things to do on the RCCL after that point. (We do a lot of family cruising, with multiple ages.) We've always picked our cruises by the ports of call and the ship. Some general guidelines that you might want to think about: 1. Newer ships have better facilities for all ages. Look what each line offers. Do you really want to ice skate or waterslide? (PS -- waterslide is only open for certain periods, not all the time...) Do you want pizza 24 hours a day or full room service available. (Some cruiselines will only have limited items available in your room service, and some will have the entire evening menu available for a short time.) 2. One of the gaudiest ships I've been on is a Carnival (Fantasy) and one of the most beautiful has been a Carnival (Miracle). RCCL is usually very nice. 3. If cabin size is important, go with Carnival. Cabins are noticably bigger. However, if might be that your closet at home is bigger than most cabins, so please be aware of that. 4. Where do you want to travel? I've been all over the Caribbean, Hawaii, etc. and we now pick by the ship. 5. Look at ship size. Megaships that hold 3000+ will always have lines somewhere! I generally try to stick with 1800-2000 people max ships. They usually offer everything I want to do, but not as many people. The most important thing you can do is your homework! Ask people who they've cruised with, go to websites (www.cruisecritic.com is a great one for ideas/opinions. Go to the forum boards and look around! You will find great tips on what to do, how to save money -- always appreciated, shore excursions, etc.), and generally figure out what is most important for you. Remember, people take cruises for different reasons and most believe that they don't care what anyone else thinks of them because you will never see them again! I've had good and bad experiences on every cruise I've been on! I've had to stand in line for supper/buffets/shore excursions/picture taking, etc. Keep an open mind, enjoy yourself and you will have a great time! HTH June -
help...target sale on linksys wireless and router
kjunea replied to jcarr492's topic in Offline Hot Deals
With us, we connected the router to our desktop, so it didn't need a wireless card. For my laptop, I got a wireless card through my school for $16.00, which does great. We didn't get a wireless card for the desktop computer, since the router was put there. Hubby's computer has a wireless card in it, but he just uses the desktop. -
Went to get the groceries today and Kroger had the 75% signs up. People were everywhere getting those inflatables, ornaments and trees, along with the toys, candles, etc. I got a 4 1/2 foot lit tree with 200 lights for $5.00! It was marked $29.99 but rang up $19.99 and then 75% off of that! Yeehaw!

Dora Diego Pirate Ship Little Tykes Playhouse $50 at Walmart YMMV
kjunea replied to mbjohnson's topic in Offline Hot Deals
I went by the Toy section in WalMart and they had about 5 sitting in the center of an isle for $35.00 each. DS is almost 4, so I think it might be too small for him before I got my money's worth. Nobody even seemed interested! -
WOW!! This is a list that any teacher would love.... Now if they had just included Expo markers......

Around here, the paper on Christmas day will have ads in it, showing their after Christmas Sales. Some years, it is almost as big as the Thanksgiving paper. -
Getting Walmart to price match all the videos that I wanted from BestBuy, Circuit City, etc, so I didn't have to fight the crowds there early! June

Okay, First.... THANK YOU GOTTADEAL!!! If it hadn't been for this site, to which I pledge my utmost devotion on all matters of saving money from this moment on.... I wouldn't have known about what was on sale at the following places because those ads were NOT in the paper that I or 6 other people bought on the newstand in Nashville: WalMart BestBuy Circuit City Target Kohls My mother, who has a subscription to the paper got those three. However, she did not get a Kohls either. So I didn't go to Kohls and I have sent an email to them. Last year, I spent $150 at Kohl's on BF. This year... nadda! Anybody else have problems?

When I worked retail, the higher ups would say things about "Green" days, etc., as in days they make lots of Green money.
-
Oh great.... Now what do I do? I sure wish there was a BB right beside a WM somewhere. SIL and I would go line up, get tickets at BB, then go to WM to get warm and their doorbusters, than back to BB to pick up ticket items.

For three years, I worked retail for a Disney Outlet part-time. We would close Wednesday night at 6:00pm, but I wouldn't get to leave until about 10:00pm or so doing prelim work. I would then come back on BF at 5:00AM and get ready some more for our 8:00 AM opening. Castmembers were allowed to put some things on the "hold" shelf in the back with their name on it. We always had first look-first get EVERYDAY. We always had to pay for it the day we put it on the hold shelf, but the BF price was good for us all day (including our discount). However, if you weren't working the opening shift, you couldn't put anything back. You had to wait out front just like everyone else. Unless you had a friend opening and they would put it back for you under their name and you would get there before they left.... Unless you could "climb" the shelves and hide what you wanted up on the fourth stack under the giant Plush.... But they pretty much kept it a secret what would be on sale on BF until a few days before. We would have to guess by what boxes where coming in, etc. Made it pretty fun for us. The outlet didn't put out Ads in the paper. Of course, I worked an outlet, not a BigBox store where there are hard to find items that everyone wants. I just know that people are not the kindest to those working BF sometimes and we didn't make that huge of an amount an hour for pay. I understand when people who work there want something. But if it is a loss-leader, meant to bring in the crowds and there aren't any because the employees , then that could start a riot.

I went when I was about 5 months and people were great! Makes me want to put on a maternity top and stick my belly way out this year!! I even had people let me go in front of them in line because I said I had to use the restroom! (But then again, it was a woman with 2 small kids with her!) Seriously, take snacks in your purse and a bottle of water and go slow! She should do fine as long as she doesn't go for the $300 computers!

This is the one day of the year that my hubby DARE not say "no" to me on babysitting the boy! (Or else, he gets to go shopping for everything and he gets nothing for Christmas from me!!) But I am usually up and back by 10:00 AM, so he goes into work late, if he doesn't take off that day anyway. I'm lucky in that he's a CPA for a Medical Center and his job isn't mandatory on that day. In fact, last year, they MADE him stay home to help the bottom line! He would rather go in that day late because it is quiet, since there are very few surgeries planned for that day, etc. June
