  1. You're right. Although they might not have been notified of the shortage until just this week, which is why they cancelled the orders and did not communicate anything prior to it. I know they did take a lot of orders. We sold a few through this site and a lot of the other deal sites had it. Honestly I'm surprised they actually cancelled the orders. Usually they'd just e-mail you saying "we won't get them in the next 2 weeks, we might get them by december, if you want to cancel, cancel, otherwise just wait" so the fact that they were proactive and cancelled them tells me they don't anticipate getting any in the next few months... This could be really bad for XM if this shortage continues. Christmas day is always the day with the highest # of activations, so if people can't get them for gifts, it could really hurt them... hopefully they don't have shortage problems with the SKYFi2.
  2. I'm sure Amazon expected to receive a new supply of units, but like that thread on XMFan said, they were probably notified that there was a shortage and they weren't going to be getting any anytime soon. Good that you got a $20 GC though.
  3. Amazing when you consider our old performa 630cd's had hard drives smaller than this $40 key chain sized drive, hey ross? :)
  4. It's worth a shot... :) You can also make your own home kit by buying an antenna and a few cables from radio shack. Or go with the skyfi now and then ebay it and get the skyfi2 when it comes out...
  5. How about some speakers. People seem to like this Dell set at Overstock.com: http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=RjWYtCqO0*M&offerid=38611.180&type=14&subid=0&bnid=958806 There is a $5 off $65 coupon to bring the final price to around $68 shipped.
  6. Here is the rebate: http://65.119.30.151/UploadFilesForNewegg/rebate/SR%20-%20Newegg%20HDTV%2010-NEGG-89%20-%202.pdf I wonder if Buy.com will have a similar rebate...
  7. Buy.com also has it for $174.99 with free shipping and no tax in most states: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10375953 Plus you can use a coupon if you can make Buy.com think you are a new customer :)
  8. Yep. I'd still wait for the SKYFi2, but if they are having problems making these, who knows when the SKYFi2 will eventually come out.
  9. There are rumors of Roady2 shortages: http://www.xmfan.com/viewtopic.php?t=28973
  10. Target.com has it for $49.99 with free shipping. Use the 10% off coupon floating around and that brings it to $44.99. Tax is charged though, so that's not that good of a deal. I'll keep looking...
  11. Watch the warranty lengths too. There is like a $20 difference between a 90 day and a 1 year warranty
  12. Also try Dell Business. I configured a 2400 with 17" monitor and CD burner for around $450 shipped (plus tax)
  13. XM announces internet streaming: http://www.xmradio.com/listen/index.jsp $7.99/month to non-subscribers, $3.99/month for subscribers. Sirius offers internet streaming for free to their subscribers (but they charge $3/month more than XM) Still a good way for someone considering XM to try out the programming without buying any hardware upfront. Just pay the $7.99 for a month and see if it's something you'd like.
  14. Pricegrabber listing: http://gottadeal.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php?masterid=2281127&blsrt=1 OneCall has the D70 with 18-70mm lens for $1299: http://ww2.onecall.com/PID_22756.htm?BCPID=752 Shipping is just over $20. If you sign up for their PASS membership (free) you can save 1% more, so it ends up being just over $1300 shipped. OneCall is an authorized dealer. They've had good bundle deals in the past, but nothing right now. RitzCamera also has a few versions of the D70, including one with a 2 lens kit for $1229.
  15. I don't believe vB comes wih any emoticons. I found them all and added them manually.
  16. I think I fixed it. The reason AFB was allowed to edit it was that there was a 5 minute window when topic titles could be edited. I have increased that window to 99999999999 minutes, so you shouldn't have any problems now, hopefully :)
  17. I'll check into it...
  18. I've been using Easynews for about 3-4 years now with no problems.
  19. I don't think it would take them that long to ship it. You can always order it, and if it hasn't shipped by a certain date, just cancel the order.
  20. Without a doubt I would choose XM. Unless you do stuff where you would use the MP3 player a lot (working out, etc...). Having XM, especially in a situation like this where you can have it both in your vehicle and at home is very nice. Ever since they went commercial free on all the music channels it has made it even better. Highly recommended, especially at this price.
  21. Correct. You get the vehicle kit included, which lets you use it either with the cassette adapter, or the built in wireless FM modulator. Both will probably give equal sound performance, so for most, the FM modulator is easier. Just plug the power cable into your cigarette lighter socket, plug in the antenna and you're good to go. You can also plug the audio output directly into your head unit if you have an aux. input. The home kit is very similar - has an antenna and a dock with a line out to connect it to a receiver, powered speakers, PC, headphones, etc... This is a really good price. Don't know if it is the new price (doubtful since this model just came out a few months ago) or Amazon just has a lower price than everywhere else.
  22. no - video card typically uses your AGP slot, and TV tuners use PCI slots. unless you get the all-in-wonder cards, which have both components on the same AGP card.
  23. if you have an open slot, then you can still have a TV tuner card.
  24. And if you wanted to spend a lot more, there's the portable "TiVo for radio": http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00009ZY4E
  25. If you just need FM, I'd go with something cheap like this: http://www.buy.com/retail/electronics/product.asp?sku=90105647 Order 2 and get free shipping (and have one for a backup - the quality isn't going to be the greatest at that price) No MP3, but what do you expect for $13? lol If you want something better, go with something like a Sangean. I've had a little radio from them for about 5 years now. Works great, great reception, excellent battery life.
