Same explanation. If we bump a previous deal to the top of the home page, it gets a new ID#, so we can choose to either delete the old one or keep it in the archive. Usually if a deal is less than 4-5 days old, we'll delete the old one. Otherwise we keep it in there in case Google or Yahoo have already spidered the old page. That way people coming to the site get less 404 errors from deals that were deleted. It also keeps Google and Yahoo happy, and we need them happy to get new people to the site :)
-
Just a note that if you have your own Amazon Associates account and set up a partnership with us, you can earn $ with some of the deals - like I said, PM one of us for more info.

Sometimes we copy previous deals (especially very popular ones) to get them back to the top of the home page without deleting the original deal, so it just uses the same forum thread. I would have deleted the old deal when bumping but I have some Google Adwords ads running which link to that deal page and don't want problems with it no longer being available.

The problem with most online places is that shipping will kill you on something like that, unless there is a free shipping promotion like that model at Target. For example, OneCall has a nice 24" (not 27") Sony Trinitron WEGA for under $250, but shipping is well over $100 on it. I'll keep looking...

Here is a really nice Samsung model at Target.com - $449 w/ free shipping and use 10% off coupon code TCSAVEAUGTEN to get it for $404 shipped (plus tax if applicable). Has all kinds of inputs, progressive scan-compatible, etc... Pretty much one of the best non-HDTV 27" models available. If you want something cheaper, here are some models at BestBuy.com to look at. Free delivery on most, or you can pick them up in store if you have one nearby: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1051806307849&skuId=5341061&productCategoryId=cat03003&type=product http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1077624868649&skuId=6376619&productCategoryId=cat03003&type=product http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1083537537895&skuId=6395073&productCategoryId=cat03003&type=product http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1072287615951&skuId=6292291&productCategoryId=cat03003&type=product

Any particular price range you are looking at? Also, what stores do you have nearby? BestBuy, CircuitCity, Costco, Sam's Club, etc...

Another possible option if you want longer battery life would be one of the many reconditioned models at Overstock.com. Plenty of options from name-brand companies like Dell, HP, IBM, etc... Most of these have slower processors that use less power but are still more than enough for most any activity on a laptop. Use a coupon and save more. We'll have several deals posted tomorrow for laptops at Overstock, so stay tuned.

That's what I was thinking, but I couldn't find any 5.8GHz 2-line models at all - they were all 900Mhz or 2.4GHz. I'll look again and see if I can find any.

17" flat panel LCD with DVI for $350-$450?

New Dell LCD monitor deal: http://www.gottadeal.com/deal-info-id-3519-store-dellhome.html -
Some more: Uniden TRU8865-2 5.8 GHz Digital Expandable Cordless Speakerphone with Caller ID - $129.99 Shipped: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001F9KLO Northwestern Bell 5.8GHz System at Buy.com for $99 shipped: http://www.buy.com/retail/electronics/product.asp?sku=90132121 I still think the VTech for $85 shipped is the best deal, even if it includes the answeing machine. Sells everywhere else for $100, so it's a nice price. Pretty good reviews as well. I'll post again if I find something else.

There is one I mentioned in this thread but it has an answering machine. Price dropped $5 since then as well. I'll take a look and see what I can find without an answering machine.

17" flat panel LCD with DVI for $350-$450?
Brad replied to RossMAN's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Our good friend BobbyDouglas should post for himself Personally, if you want DVI I would go with the Dell 1703FP. It is Dell's best 17" model and has DVI, plus all the nifty features of the larger models like the height-adjustable stand, thin bezel, etc... They have it for 10% off at Dell Home through tomorrow, and (although you didn't hear this from me) there will be a $35 off $450 coupon code tomorrow (we have it - just can't post it yet), so you will be able to get it for $414 shipped - which is $5 more than it was yesterday when they had a $40 coupon, but that's the way things go. And if you don't care about DVI, that Sceptre model at Amazon for $319 AR is a very nice deal. -
If you have a web site and are interested in partnering with GottaDeal.com in the form of a co-branded deals site, PM either myself or RossMAN for more information. Examples of these co-branded sites: http://canontalk.gottadeal.com http://satelliteguys.gottadeal.com http://aximsite.gottadeal.com

USB 2.0 Flash Drive w/ Fingerprint Security
Brad replied to BobbyDouglas's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
sounds good bobby. buy.com had such a nice price on it that i posted it today on the main site as a regular deal. hopefully they don't sell out before you can order (doubtful, unless all the other deal sites copy the deal as they've been known to do lately :) ) -
Glad we could help :)

USB 2.0 Flash Drive w/ Fingerprint Security
Brad replied to BobbyDouglas's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
PC Magazine Review - http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1604872,00.asp From that review: "The flash drive's storage is set up in two partitions, one public and one secure. When you first insert the device in your PC's USB port, only the public partition mounts. Password or fingerprint authentication is required to mount and view the resizable secure partition." So the stuff you put on the public partition would mount like a normal plug & play drive. Read the review for more info - there is Windows Explorer and IE integration as well as standard file protection. -
USB 2.0 Flash Drive w/ Fingerprint Security
Brad replied to BobbyDouglas's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
I'm guessing that for normal use it would be plug & play, but if you want to use the fingerprint recognition features, it might require special software. I'll look and see if I can find more info. -
USB 2.0 Flash Drive w/ Fingerprint Security

Hey BobbyDouglas - welcome to the forum :) Unique request. I didn't even know such things were available. After looking around, it looks to me like your best bet is this Sony USM-128C 128MB Micro Vault at Buy.com for $84.92 with free shipping. Seems to have everything you want. For price comparison, check out Pricegrabber and you'll see Buy.com is the cheapest. Amazon has it for $110. More Info From Sony -

As for the wireless adapter, there are 2 main choices. Here is the cheapest prices I could find for each: Linksys Wireless-B Game Adapter - $52.64 shipped at Amazon Microsoft Wireless-G Xbox Adapter - $78.24 shipped at Amazon If you have a 802.11g adapter, the MS one might be worth the extra cost, otherwise I've heard great things about the Linksys one. Computers4Sure carries the Linksys model for a few bucks more (search for WGA11B), so you could add it to your existing order or place a separate order from Amazon to save a few bucks.
