littlesdcen Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 We usually fry ours but this year we are thinking of smoking ours.
sdigman6 Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 We are cooking ours in the oven as usual. I have dressing, greenbean casserole, rolls, mash potato, gravy, pie, cranberry sauce, lettuce salad....plus whatever snacks that are out while the bird cooks!!! Steph
scrabbler Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I looked Honeybaked Ham up on the internet and looked up their turkey varieties. Then I clicked on a Smoked turkey breast, requested pick up for yesterday, dropped by the store, paid for it and put it in my frig. Tomorrow, we will warm up both ham and turkey and enjoy!

triplej2002 Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Our aunt and uncle always deep fry the turkey for the extended family get-together and we always take an extra one just for us (they fry it for us), so we can have plenty of left overs for us. :) Once we all had the deep fried kind, we never went back.

Lots of people like deep fryed, I truely do not care for it
floridasun5 Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Im not making a turkey for Thanksgiving this year as the parents are cooking, but I still do have one in the freezer for later. I roast it in the oven with butter and herbs under the skin and herbs, more butter and onion in the cavity :) I like drier stuffing so I dont like stuffing in the bird.
maxpower Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I just smoked a turkey for the first time yesterday. It turned out great. You can't beat smoked turkey. Fried is a close second because it's the easiest way to keep it juicy. We had a 10lb turkey and it took about 4 hours to cook smoking at between 220 and 240 degrees.
mrs.winter Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I like mine in the roaster it cooks up so nice and juicy and make tons of broth for turky and dumplings later!

Kanyon71 Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Fried, we did it for the first time last year and it was the best turkey I've ever had. I'm not a huge fan of turkey but once it was injected with a butter garlic sauce and deep fried it was so juicy and had so much flavor.
wormurm Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I usually bake the turkey in the oven but this time we are marinating turkey breasts and then putting it on the charcoal grill.
Lynn53 Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I always smoke a huge turkey and a brisket (weird husband hates turkey). I'm still trying to figure out how it became tradition to have Thanksgiving at MY house each year? Love it all tho!
