  1. Holy crap! I don't go into Best Buy until after all the doorbusters and crazy people are gone later in the morning (I don't have a death wish, lol), but this is an EXCELLENT ad and it would take a lot for me to say that. Our TV went out a couple of months ago and we've been using our very small 22" tv in our large living room. I'm surprised we haven't gone blind trying to squint to see the TV. For the first time ever, I'm wondering about camping out. Something I thought I'd NEVER do!!
  2. YES! Thank you!!! One of my favorite movies... can't believe I couldn't place it. I knew I had seen it in something. Thanks! :)
  3. BigJim, what movie is your avatar pic from? I can't place it and it's about to drive me crazy wondering! lol
  4. Best Buy for several reasons... At our Best Buy I can NEVER find anyone that is willing to help and the employees at check out are always rude. I disagree with and do not like the company that they use to finance their credit cards (HSBC). And finally, I don't need ANY electronic gadget that bad where I'd ever get in that mess on Black Friday. I can honestly say that I haven't had a pleasant experience at Best Buy in years... I have grown to hate that place.
  5. Congratulations winners! I think a fun contest would be to jumble up words of black friday items and members have to unscramble the words. Example- "GESEUHTWNOSI TDHV" would be "WESTINGHOUSE HDTV". Just an idea. :)
  6. This store had some great deals last year that I would have liked to have gotten too. I sure do wish they had one nearby, but unless I am willing to drive thru 3 or 4 states, it looks like I'm outta luck. :)
  7. Love the cartridge sale as well, although I'd be happier if they'd sell them for $15.00 each! Very good price on them, but when bills are to be paid, Cricut cartridges aren't a top priority. Also, I remember buying the Fiskars paper trimmer on Black Friday two years ago for $4.99 and I ended up getting the second to last one. I'm not sure if I'll be going there this year or not.
  8. Awesome! Thanks so much for this contest. I can't wait to wear mine and show what an "elite shopper" I am. Congratulations to the other winners too!
  9. We'll probably be spending much less than last year. My husband was hurt at work earlier this year and was out for almost two months and we're still trying to get back on track from that. He's trying to work atleast another 30 hours overtime in October and November to cover black friday/Christmas shopping. But in addition to that, we really have no clue what to get our son or his daughter for Christmas. There is nothing that they really want and no good toys are out. We honestly have no idea what we're going to get them! I'm glad though, because it will keep us from spending as much money... I definately don't want to buy junk just to buy something that day.
  10. Here is the video I just made for the contest. I've wanted a Black Friday shirt for a couple of years now- maybe I can get one this time! :)
  11. I know this is kind of late, but have you heard of "Chinese Christmas". We have way too many family members to buy for everyone, so that is what we do. You can set a limit of $5.00 or $10.00 per person (or whatever limit you want). Each person brings a wrapped gift to your gathering and that evening you all draw numbers. The person with number one gets to pick first out of the pile of gifts. Then number two takes their turn... they can pick a new gift or take the first person's gift. Then the person that drew number three goes next... they can pick a new wrapped gift or take one from person 1 or 2. And everyone goes until all gifts have been picked (I'm sure you can find more exact rules for this game online). It's a fun game for the adults to participate in (we buy for the kids)... everyone still gets to open a gift and it doesn't break the bank. We always have a blast playing this game and we've had all kinds of gifts from Krispie Kreme doughnuts and coffee, to lottery tickets, to a bag full of comical "adult" items, (we aren't exactly a proper and formal family, lol), nice flatware, and everything else in between. This is just a suggestion.
  12. We always have a regular dinner for Thanksgiving, but for Christmas everyone brings a little bit of everything... cheese and crackers, various items to make sandwiches (chicken salad, pimento cheese), ham, deviled eggs, different candies and desserts, just a little bit of everything. It's pretty much just finger foods for Christmas. And then we get together for New Years Eve for a "game night" where we bring the Wii, Seinfeld Scene it and other games. On that night we may do a Mexican theme where we bring tacos, enchiladas, nachos, etc. Or we may choose to cookout hot dogs. We change that up.

    Cricut Expression

I bought one as well on BF as well as a cartridge to go with it. Unfortunately, since it cost so much I told my husband just to wrap it up, put it under the tree and not to get me anything else for Christmas. Sooo, I haven't been able to try it yet. I did speak with a couple of other shoppers that were picking a few up and were giving them as gifts. They said they loved theirs. Also as I was leaving Wal-Mart one of the greeters saw it in my buggy and told me she had one. She told me she was in love with hers as well. I've heard nothing but good things about it and can not WAIT to unwrap mine and use it Christmas morning!
  14. Our son (7) wants: Claw Arcade game from TRU (got it on BF) Woody and Buzz talking figures Bop It Mario Kart for Wii Tools (REAL ones he says) Any kind of Zurg toy A Mars Globe (don't even know if they make such a thing) Toy Story bucket of soldiers Astronomy laser My Sims game for Wii (which he just bought this weekend with his birthday money) Each year he's always had that one item on his list that he MUST have, but there isn't anything out there that he's really interested in this year.
  15. My grandpa's homemade macaroni and cheese. It is SOOOO good. He loads it down with sharp cheddar cheese, eggs and milk and bakes it in the oven. There are never any left overs. It's the best!
  16. Holding a door for someone and then not getting a thank you (like I'm their servant) is the WORST. I always just say "You're WELCOME" in a sarcastic tone. I don't know if it's because I embarass them or they just have their rear end on their shoulders, but they go out of their way not to look me in the eye. I hate everyone else has such rude encounters, but I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one in the world that has been taught any manners and that the rest of the population is just crabby, crabby, crabby. Nice to know that some people still believe in manners!
  17. A few years ago I gave my brother about $20. What I did was use a large box and LOTS of tissue or newspaper. Then I put a $1.00 bill in one of those miniature sized envelopes. The envelopes were scattered in all the tissue paper in the box, so it took him a while to find all the money. He enjoyed having to go thru it and it was amusing to everyone else.
  18. ME TOO! I've been waiting and waiting and still nothing. I'm anxious to see if they have a Cricut on sale. Hope it comes out soon!
  19. $0.00, because I just heard about the things and luckily my son doesn't want one. Even if he did want it, I wouldn't pay more than a few bucks over MSRP.
  20. Our entire family LOVES deep fried turkey. My aunt and uncle have the fryer and cook one for everyone. My husband and I always prepare our own and they deepfry it for us after the main turkey is finished. This is the recipe I got from my aunt: Make a seasoning with these ingredients: 2 Tbs. garlic powder 4 tsp. seasoning salt 2 tsp. poultry seasoning 2 tsp. paprika 2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. pepper 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper You mix these ingredients together and rub onto the (defrosted) turkey well (make sure to get it between the legs and wings too). Then you put a bottle of Liquid Smoke "into the turkey" with an injector needle thing (whatever they're called). You inject the LS into the meat of the turkey. Then they deep-fry the turkey in peanut oil. YUMMY!! I don't know if I can wait another week for some turkey myself.
  21. My husband and I both just take our debit cards. Cash is too easy to lose and also too much of a hassle to count out and all that. Safer to keep that small card than a wad of cash too. It's easier just to swipe the card and go.
  22. I haven't seen anything yet that has made me really excited about getting out Friday. I'm looking forward to seeing AC Moore's ad to see if they'll have one of the Cricuts on sale. I've wanted one for a while now, and they're finally getting into a price range that I can deal with. Wish we had a JoAnn's around here. I may be going to Michael's or AC Moore depending on who has the better price.
