BoulderChick Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Hi Everyone, What do you do to help you wake up early on BF? and/or What do you do to help you stay up for Midnight sales at the outlet malls? Lots of Coffee? Getting to bed very early? or just the motivation of the deals on BF? I would love to hear how you manuever the late nights and early days. I'm in Colorado and when it is dark and cooooold outside I just want to stay in bed, under the covers snuggling with DH and the puppy. And then get up, get Starbucks and head over to the annual Colorado vs Nebraska Football game(kickoff @ 10:30am)
christib327 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I don't really do anything. I just think it's the fact that I wait for this day all year that has me jumping out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off.
Rebirth Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Don't sleep or sleep early in the day before BF.
samisma Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 liquour. lots of it. jk i'm in az and we've still be fairly warm so that part isn't hard for me. i'm a night owl... and my dd hasn't let me sleep more than 2 hours at a time since she was born. she's been training me for bf since the day she was born.
wyntyrose Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Go Huskers!!!!! My first stop for BF opens at 1201 am so I won't sleep until I get home sometime around 9 or 10 that morning. Then I will curl up hope my dh can keep the children and dogs quiet and sleep. That evening we are having a bonfire with the neighbors so i need sleep before those activities start.
shopping mom Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I set my alarm but I usually check it three times before it goes off. This year I am just going out earlier so I will just stay up.
lovebears65 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I dont sleep at all after I get up on Thanksgiving day .. And since we are leaving super early on Turkey day I guess the cold will keep me up:tongue1:
Wirble Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I dont go to sleep. We all have breakfast at midnight or 1 am at IHOP, then we go to walmart and get in our spots. We usuallly have 15-20 ppl. One person doesnt have a "spot" they are the break giver.
cassgurlie04 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 i usually come home from thanksgiving dinner and get to sleep that way by the time i sleep about 5 - 6 hours it about 1 am and im waking up and getting ready to shop til i drop
Gporter34 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I stay awake and start checking for online deals starting at midnight on Thursday, then wake everyone else up to leave. Unless there is something worth standing in line for all night, in that case I clean up after Thanksgiving dinner and head on out.
MICKEY3601 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Lots of coffee!!! LOL I am so amped for BF that I really don't have a problem waking up. I almost have to force my self to sleep the night before so I get enough sleep to last me all day on BF
BoulderChick Posted November 13, 2007 Author Posted November 13, 2007 Thanks for all the input, keep it coming! I'll have to try EvErYtHiNg to stay up. And locate a 24hr Starbucks. GO BUFFS!!!
bayhaysay Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I don't really do anything. I just think it's the fact that I wait for this day all year that has me jumping out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off.
princess01 Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 With the excitement of it all, I can barely fall asleep! lol But I do set my alarm and will probably set my alarm on my cell too this year. I'll probably be getting up around 4 this year so we can get to Target around 5 for the 6:00 opening. As long as that's where we decide to start again this year... haven't seen any better ads where the opening time is earlier yet.
peifgirl Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 i wake pretty easy cause i am that excited sometimes i wake up earlier then my alarm
DB_Cooper Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 I have a lava-lite in the back of my minivan that signals it is time for discount [barry White] Loooooooooooooooooooooove [/barry white]
angel-too Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 DH does all the cooking on Thanksgiving while I gather the ads and plan my mission. My whole family arrives about 4pm, we eat, hangout and go over the ads....again. Everyone leaves around 10/11. They call me on their way home to tell me the crazy lines that have formed. I surf around GottaDeal, see who's left already then on my way about 2-2:30 a.m. So I dont sleep.
money13 Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Stay up but rest leave house about 12am drive find a store with less people then wait till the doors open 6am shop until 11am eat lunch then sleep ahhh yes shopping is done in one shot...well that always my hope.
LonghornMomma Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 I don't sleep at all. Get up on Turkey day around 7am get home on BF around noon. Then I sleep til about 5, then back to bed around 11pm. Yeah, I'm hard core like that. My thanks to all 30 Starbucks franchises within a 10 block radius of my shopping area.
darianwiccan Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Sleep? What's that? I keep myself awake by standing outside in the freezing cold in front of a store starting at midnight!
queenofshopping Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 i just don't go to sleep! heh. caffeine is also important. and to get myself in the right frame of mind i blast christmas songs in the car on the way to the stores
blakes_mommy Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 We don't sleep, we spend the night going through the ads over and over again making sure we did not miss anything. We are usually out the door at 1:00 so why bother?? Coffee is wonderful though!
Phunnemee Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Stay up all night. I don't want to take a chance of waking up late.:) Anyway, I leave at 3:00 am. I would not get enough sleep to matter.
Aaron Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Well, you could get the nice people at "Express" to wake you up! https://www.dayafterthanksgivingwakeupcall.com/
Turtle Mommy Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 I don't really do anything. I just think it's the fact that I wait for this day all year that has me jumping out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off.
elena_398 Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 I try to take a nap after we eat dinner on Thanksgiving or at least rest on the recliner. I NEVER go to bed before BF. Too excited and antsy. Haha. I am usually up for over 24 hours so by the time shopping is done and put away, I pass out for several hours. Tradition here for me. lol
hopeky94 Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 i usually come home from thanksgiving dinner and get to sleep that way by the time i sleep about 5 - 6 hours it about 1 am and im waking up and getting ready to shop til i drop This is pretty much what I do... except I get up at midnight, so I can take my time waking up, getting ready, and go over the ads one last time! I wait till that day to wear my first Christmas shirt of the season, along with Christmas earrings of course. LOL... Then I grab my favorite Christmas CD, a nice warm cup of flavored coffee, and head out to my first store around 2:30!! Also, to help me get as much good, restful sleep as I can for those 5-6 hours on Thanksgiving evening, I make the bedroom super-dark and turn on the ceiling fan, to drown out any other noise and make it just chilly enough that I need to cuddle up tight in the blankets... There's no way I could stay on top of my BF game if I stayed up all night. And I am sooo NOT a morning person... so that extra wake-up time gives me a chance to get my body and brain functioning again before I head out! HTH, and good luck!!!:)
gisellerol Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 no sleep here I am up from the morning cooking my turkey and I hang like that all day the excitement keeps me going.. But after shopping which is usually around noon I am dead tired and ready to crawl in bed
