Just Me Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 CC has some nice looking deals this year but I swear I can't stand mail in rebates. It always seems to get fouled up or take forever to get the money. This is what ruins the CC deals for me and why I hit BB. I just don't like dealing with all the mail in rebates. I will see a deal and think wow nice the see MIR and totally be turned off. Anyone else with me on disliking MIR? If they didn't have them that would sooo be my first stop this year. I know they like them because of the high % of people who never send them in
Aaron Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Well, you're in luck this year. :) Circuit City has really cut down on the amount of mail-in rebates, almost 90% (or more) of their stuff is mail-in-rebate-free. Check out the list we have available on the Black Friday site and you'll notice a "*" next to the items that require a rebate: http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/BlackFridaySales/Store/CircuitCity/Category/All/Rebates/yes/EarlyBirds/yes/Page/1
rdean Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 You are not alone. I HATE MIR's no matter the store. To me it is a legal scam. Buyer beware!
Iliveforblckfri Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 You are not alone. I HATE MIR's no matter the store. To me it is a legal scam. Buyer beware!I LOVE Rebates. We send them out when we get home. They are in the mail Friday afternoon. I look at them as a help to me to get the item. So many people don't like them that I am more likely to get the item I want.
nick_jenni_jocelyn Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 I hate them also, which is why i try to stay away from them completely. my MIL, on the other hand, likes them a lot.
JustMyLuck Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 I hate them too. The only ones that are fine are Staples online ones because they do it all for you and you do not have to worry about it.
Indy2424 Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 I promise all of you that Staples Easy Rebates are easy and Staples stand behind them 100%. They Easy rebates are just that and just entered online and do not have to mail anything in. Hardly ever is there a problem with these. If there is we back them 100% and guarantee your rebate.
MisterBill Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Circuit City has really cut down on the amount of mail-in rebates, almost 90% (or more) of their stuff is mail-in-rebate-free. Check out the list we have available on the Black Friday site and you'll notice a "*" next to the items that require a rebate: True, but I also notice that many things that used to be free after rebate are now $5-10. I guess that's good for some people. Not for me.
wtomakin Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 MIRs are a waste of time and money .I just browsed their rebate form, and its tell you that that MIR check will be due in 8 to 10 weeks after. You buy that item in the first place to save money yet get screwd coz of the MIRs.
he8765 Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I love mail-in rebates. As long as you are able to follow the directions when submitting your rebate, and able to follow-up if the rebate gets falsely rejected, then items with mail-in rebates end up being much cheaper than if there was no rebate at all. There's plenty of stuff to buy that's free after rebate, but when do you ever see anything on sale for free without a rebate?
angel-too Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 If I find a "deal" with a rebate, forget it!!! HAte them!! Sometimes they make it so difficult, so they can reject it! You have to copy everything, box proof of purchase, etc. cuz if there is a problem, you already sent them all your proof! Not worth it to me!
jackpotladi Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I think the MIR'S are mostly a rip-off. I can't tell you how many times I've followed all their rules EXACTLY right to the letter & still (wrongly), get notifications that they can't honor it for some imagined reason. Usually I have to argue with them, do numerous calls & resend, resend & resend! I think they hope you'll just give up. It's just not worth the time & stress.
toebaby Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I lost $250 from Best Buy rebates that didn't ever come!!!! Never AGAIN!
richeileen Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 I Did Get A Great Deal On A Computer For My Son Last Year At Cc With Mir But Walgreens Is The Worst With Mir!

They get a letter that includes whatever "corrections" they said were necessary. In the letter I politely ask that they forward the rebate within 30 days and if they do not, a BBB complaint will be filed. Then I wait 30 days - if no rebate - complaint is filed (can be done online). That gets their attention. I collect them ALL
Kalel Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Mexico hates MIR too!!! I have no-USA address!!
jimwinters Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 i hate rebates when it things have to be shipped around. when items, especially camera lenses that i want are not available here at san berdoo, lenses that are shipped usually are scratched and stuff... bummer....
vbamother Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Depends on the rebate. I love grocery/beer company rebates. Almost never have a problem with those. But electronics? Geez, I don't think we've gotten more than half of them...there is always a problem, or else they just disappear and we never hear anything no matter how many times we call or email!
HAnderson Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 i absolutely hate MIR it will be a deal breaker for me if i see that is what i have to do. Half the time you dont get the rebate back in the mail.
bpr Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I usually do pretty good on them. I've called and gotten them straightened out on the phone. You have to keep track and follow up on them, especially the big $$$ ones;).
