I have heard this story from retailers every year. Unfortunately, what retailers consider an early BF deal normally turns out to be a bunch of hot air. I'll believe it when the actual "deals" are equivalent to BF deals.

Got back from Home Depot a little while ago. Scored the 4 piece Ryobi cordless set for $60 (chose the $70 cordless hammer drill as the free item), the Ryobi bench grinder for $20, and the 6 LED flashlight set for $10. No problems at all.

I'm going to Home Depot in a little while to see if they are setting up for BF. If so, I am going to try and snag some stuff.

Yes, I love the headlines: "Will Black Friday save retail this year?" Answer: NO. The deals aren't as good. Even though there will be plenty of people out there on BF, that doesn't mean that they will be buying. Anyone plan on spending more (or even the same) as last year? Just because retailers are closing SOME stores (i.e. downsizing) does not make the gift cards worthless. For gift cards to be worthless, it needs to declare Chapter 7 (liquidation) bankruptcy. For some stores, that is a possibility. Still, I will redeem nearly any gift card I receive within days.

They usually release them no more than a few days before, could be in TV advertising, shown on their website, etc.
