I haven't mailed mine, but that's because it won't be me mailing it. I sent all the rebate stuff to my mom, so that once my sister opens her gift, she can cut off the UPC and drop it all in the mail for me. It has to be postmarked by Dec 28th so hopefully she'll get to it as soon as it's opened!

What bothered me most about my rebate form was that it said in tiny print to fill it out using all capital letters. Of course I didn't realize that till I was done. And you never know if that would cause them to just throw it away, since technically that was not correctly filling it out. So I had to cross out all my info and then write it again in all caps...in the tiny amount of space left on each line. Stupid picky rebate people. LOL.

Luckily this year I only had 1 rebate form from Black Friday for the MP3 player I bought hubby...but I am still fighting Best Buy over a rebate for a delivery charge on some appliances I bought back in October as well as Letstalk.com for a rebate on phones I bought back in April! I DESPISE rebates! :curse:

I can say that I actually DID send all my rebates in. There was no way that I was going to buy all this stuff, only to see the money you deserve not be rightfully given back to you. Many companies figure a percentage of people won't even bother with the rebates. Why let THEM keep YOUR money?

I just make it a point to lay all the items out, all the forms and receipts and an exacto knive or scissors and get to work. It takes a little time, but in the long run, worth the hassle if you already bought the stuff.

NOW, next step is to make copies and follow up with these companies. I had maybe over 2 dozen items (many free or close to it AR).

I only had one rebate from BF, it was for a free printer after buying a digital camera. Unfortunately for Office Max (and fortunately for us) they did not stock up on the printer in the ad, so they replaced it with a comparable model from a different manufacturer. Since the rebate was a manufacturer rebate and we could not send it in with this model printer they just subtracted the cost of the printer on the original receipt so we got the free printer and didn't have to mail in a rebate...YEAH!!! :yelclap:

  • 2 weeks later...

Happy Holidays :holiday14

Yes, all sent in. Got the Ace Hardware rebate check back already! Less than 3 weeks total ! Yay, Ace ! ! ! :yelclap:

Staples is still very badly screwed up -- it borders on FRAUD -- their new Easy Rebate system really is awful. Their customer service people are worthless. Waiting to hear from the Staples President on my complaint letter --- doubt I ever will hear from them nor see my rebates from the Black Friday sale. They now know they lost a very large business customer because of their poor service --- but what is $75K a year in sales? --- they don't care.

From the looks of the replies here, the "rebate marketing theory" is holding very true. The retailers and mfr's count on a high percentage of people just never getting around to sending in the rebates and another segment not complying with the requirements of the offer. Thus, they sucked you into the store, made you think you got a good deal, and now get to keep all your money. Most of the "ooops group" either never remember that they were supposed to get a rebate or else blame themselves when they finally remember that they blew it. :fedora: I know 3 people who forgot to send in $100-$150 Dell rebates. They got so excited and distracted with their new computer that they just simply forgot to send it it. Big ouch ! !

This was a non Black Friday rebate I sent back in October. Double rebate from manufactuer and office max on a harddrive. I have yet to see it. Does anyone have suggestions as to what I could do?

do you still have copies of EVERYTHING? (i.e. the rebate form itself, your receipt, and the UPC?)

if you have the rebate form, there should be a website, address or phone number that you can contact to check on the status of your rebate.

some rebates can take more than 2 months. if your rebate said 4-6 weeks, there is also the possibility it is held up in the millions of holiday letters being sent out.

also, check your mail carefully. not all rebates come in an envelope with a check. some staples rebates i got came as a post card that i deposited directly into my accounts.

who is the HD Manufacturer? officemax should have some kind of system to track rebates - i know for a staples one i had, i could view the status online and when i never received it, they simply voided the first sent, and sent another.

Yeah I kept copies of everything including the upc code, receipt, and rebate form. I registered the rebate online and when I have checked it says that I have never mailed it. I have. I noticed today there is a number on the rebate form... I could call that I suppose.

The mfg rebate is with Western Digital. If I could just get the one from officemax I would be happy :)
