I'm giving out a lot of gift cards to dd and ds and need some ideas to make them more fun to wrap and open. Last year I froze it in a block of ice and my dd ran it under the faucet and melted it in no time Thanks

We've done a scavenger hunt before. Instead of wrapping the gift card, wrap a clue. Then, the person uses that clue to find the next clue. After about 3 clues, the gift card is found. This may not work if you are doing multiple cards, but it was fun at our house!

Target has some really cute gift card holders. The ones I was were up by the cash registers.

One year I bought those puzzles that you inserted the card into and the cube and then you have to get the little ball thru the maze to get it unlocked. That was fun.

A friend of mine is giving his wife a CD. He cut a hole out of an old book and put it in there. It's a hardcover book, about 300 pages, so very heavy. ;)

Attach it to one of those big movie theatre-size boxes of candy and then wrap that? Include the gift cert. in a little package that also has a couple of scratch-off lottery tickets. Those are fun just because you have to scratch 'em to see if you won an extra buck or two!

put it in a ziplock bag

put the ziplock in a bowl of jello

put the jello in a box

wrap the box in duct tape

put the box in a larger box

wrap the box normally

problem with that is you need to make sure the jello doesn't melt

I purchased decorative little chinese food boxes. The kind you get for carry-out. I'm stuffing it with some shredded, decorative paper. They've look really cute!

When I get a gift card for my kids I pick up a little something from that store and put the card inside it. This way they still have something to open and they never know when a gc will be inside. A wallet, clearance purse, pair of socks, undies, baseball cap, etc...

One year I got my dad a giftcard to his favorite hunting store. I bought a box of his favorite Little Debbie cakes and carefully slid a razor blade through the seal so you couldn't tell it had ever been opened, placed the giftcard inside and glued the box back shut. He unwrapped it, looked it over (you could NOT tell it had ever been opened!), gave me a funny look, said thanks and laid it aside. I waited til everyone else was done unwrapping their gifts and then told him he should open the cakes, which he did but all he saw were the debbie cakes!!! He finally got curios after thinking I had finally lost my mind and dumped them out to find the giftcard!! LOL!! Of course the whole family thought I had lost my mind since I hadn't told any of them!!:D:razz::tongue1:

I was in Value City last night and they had theses cute M&M plush about 8 inches high with 2 packs of individual M&Ms in one hand and a gift card holder in the other hand. They were 3.99 with 40% off (2.39.) I have never seen anything like that before and thought they were so cute and a great price.

Don't know if you've bought the gift cards or where they are too but something I've done with Walmart is for .88 cents you can put your own picture on the card... maybe something funny or several small dollar amount ones with picture clues on them to the next one...

Walmart has the ornaments you can put on the tree and put the gift card inside. You could hide the ornament on the tree and wrap a note saying to look through the tree for the gift. You could also wrap them in a picture frame. Then your kids can use the picture frames for their pictures plus they have a gift card.

I really like the idea of wrapping it with a cheap item from the store, like socks, underwear, etc.

I like challenges and most of my friends do as well. So I have done this one a couple of times:

Cube

Last year I found a really unique mahagony wood gift card maze. I liked it much better because of it's elegant look but the store no longer sells them.

That was clever. I think I would have waited until the end of the day.

Couple things I have done or had done to me.............

Go to party supply store and buy one of those boxes that when you open the top confetti and streamers came out. Slide the card under it all and 'reloaded'

Put a gift card into the pocket of a shirt I had bought. About a week later my son thanked me when he was out and about and noticed it. Very hard to keep my mouth shut on that one and not ask 'are you ever going to wear that new shirt?'

For my sister who never buys anything special just for herself......... I took pictures off ads of all the little stuff she always said "that would be nice to have" but would never buy for herself because money didn't allow extras and put them all in a small box with the gift card on the bottom with a note that said "the choice is yours, enjoy!"

and what my mother did to me and my sister............ she wrapped a couple boxes that were empty. Unwrapped the first, nudged my husband next to me and whispered "my mother is really losing it" and looked across the room at my sister who is just rolling her eyes at me thinking the same. Finally on the third try got a box with a gift card and a small note from my mother stating "I may be getting old but I'm still not that old"

I bought a gift card for my nephew this year he is 15. I didn't want to just give it to him in a card so I put the gc and a pen along with a piece of paper that said How Long Did It Take You To Open Your Present This Year???? I Put all of it in a mailing envelope duct taped it and put it in 3 more mailing envelopes ductaped them as well then I did the box in box thing 5 times each box covered with that bright red tape that says do not open until christmas

then wrapped the last box normally. I also filled the empty part of the boxes with candy.

I plan on keeping that piece of paper for next year and see if he can beat his time from this year. I have the camera ready and waiting to get pictures.

Love that Idea!

I've used the plush animals with gift card holders and hung them on the tree last year. Kids never saw them till I mentioned they had forgotten something and they needed to look up and down for it.
