Adamtanderson Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 When do you take the Christmas decorations down? I think that we should take them down before New Years. My wife wants to leave them up longer.
berry1014 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 We generally take down all the Christmas decorations around New Years Day. Sometimes a day or two before New Years. We will leave all the snowman stuff out until March.
ccarson1972 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Usually right after New years I will take down any decorations and the tree.
Jennifer0530 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 We usually don't take them down until the middle of January.
Gator Pam Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I'm Jewish, but we celebrate Chr-stmas with my FIL, since my husband wasn't born Jewish. We stick to a tradition I learned from my neighbors growing up, who were Roman Catholic. We decorate the week before Chr-stmas, turn on the tree lights for the first time on Chr-stmas Eve, and leave the decorations up through Three Kings Day (Epiphany), January 6th. We even have a second smaller celebration, with shoes left out for the Three Kings to fill and a nice dinner.
Melissa Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Everything comes down a couple days after Christmas, definitely before the 1st. I like to start the new year fresh!
kselzer Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I usually have everything down by a couple days after New Year's at the latest.
Cecilliadb Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Usualy mid Jan. I love having them as long as I can.
Bunniq Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Most of the time the tree comes down by December 31st. We try and have a little New Years Eve get together and we remove the tree for room. The other decorations stay up long after December 31st. Usually by the second week of January, but the snowglobes tend to stay up most of the winter and some all year lol! This year no tree. We gave ours away last year hoping to buy a better one last year during the after Christmas sales. We were to late. Hopefully we will get lucky this year. DH still hopes to find a nice one before Christmas.
tokanm Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Usually late on Christmas night or for sure on the 26th. I love Christmas, but when it is over...it is over and I want my house back to normal Plus I may need to make room for the great sales I plan on hitting on 12/26
ChrisKsAngel Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 In my opinion, everything has to be down by New Years. But I normally start taking it down around the 27th.
countryshopper1 Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Usually right after New Year's. My birthday is New Year's Eve and I like to have the decorations up. I would keep them up alot longer, but everyone else wants the house back to normal ( I think the house looks bare after all the decorations come down, probably because I have so much stuff and keep adding to every year.) I love Christmas!!!
glitterstarr Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Usually late on Christmas night or for sure on the 26th. I love Christmas, but when it isover...it is over and I want my house back to normal Plus I may need to make room for the great sales I plan on hitting on 12/26 Same here everything is down and put away by Christmas night until the next year.
Illinoismom Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 It takes me 2-3 weeks to put Christmas up, and 2-3 days to take it down, It comes down sometime after the 1st of the year most of the time by the second weekend
sevirj Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 We usually take our tree down sometime around New Year's Day, either just before or right after, depending on any plans we have at that time.
elena_398 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 My husband makes us take down EVERYTHING the weekend after christmas. lol. Total scrooge every year. He hates all the decorations. Its been like that for the past 5 years and can't change him
cotinkandy1 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Usually after the new year. But I have been know to have them down before the 31st. Just depending on my mood.
Turtle Mommy Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Usually right after New years I will take down any decorations and the tree.Me too.
pmward725 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 My decorations go up on Black Friday, after I hit all the great sales, of course. They don't come down until January 2. My family has followed that tradition forever, and my mother passed it on to us kids.
sns128 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Sometime during the first week of January, depending on how I'm feeling. Although my snowmen decorations stay up until mid March (considering we normally have snow until then I don't see why I should put them away).
Bestbuy7 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Sometimes the week after Christmas or 13 days later.
cleverbffool Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Day to week after Christmas, this year it will be the day after because we are going on a ski trip to vermont.
readerof3 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 It depends on how lazy we are. One time we kept everything up until the 2nd of Jan. and another year we took everything down on Christmas itself. It depends on our mood.
AndreaInNC Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Usually the first weekend in January. I had a neighbor who would take down all their decorations December 26th by noon.
sammy50 Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Ours always comes down no later than 2 days after Christmas--usually the next day.
mccabefamily29 Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Last year I took it down Christmas day.
