  1. I wish they could convince everyone in my town to sleep in that day...... More stuff for me, then!!! Maybe they should start some heavy play of that commercial near me, I haven't seen it, not even once!
  2. OK, I feel a little better now! LOL At least I know I'm not alone! And I have my store (Super WM), wake-up time, and shopping buddies set. I know which toys from the WM ad I want to get for which kid in the family. So I guess it could be worse. Last year, I had somewhat of an idea what I wanted (no big ticket items, bigest wants were the 18 qt. roaster for $20 for me, the mens/ladies/boys clothes for all of us, and the HotWheels sets they had for, like, $4 or so at WM) but got to WM at around 6:30, got the last roaster in the store (merry Christmas to me!) and generally got every single thing I wanted to get. Don't ask me how! Happy plan-making to all!
  3. I don't have any experience personally at BB, but from what I've heard, that may not be early enough. Those kind of items tend to have lines before 3 AM, I believe. Especially if there's a really limited quantity at each store.
  4. I have all my GottaDeal ads together, waiting on the "real" paper ads to come in this week's newspapers, since we don't get mailed ads here. I know what I want from a few stores, so I can begin to plan my pricematching. My problem is, I work FT, have a horse, five dogs, three cats, and a family I take care of (cooking, cleaning, etc.) Hubby and family are generally good about helping to clean, so that's not an issue. I just have so much to do, it's hard to carve out time to plan the dinner I'm cooking for 20 to 25 members of our family (which I voluneered for, as I love to cook, and I'm spreading cooking and prep over 2 days, so it won't be too bad), AND put together a plan for BF. Oh, well. At least I had the good sense to take off from work tomorrow, to grocery shop for last-minute Tgiving dinner items, and to begin prep/cooking for TDay. Maybe between tomorrow and Thursday, I can also plan some. How do some of you guys manage to be so organized about your planning? I know you guys have jobs and/or families, too.
  5. Thanksgiving Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 63. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph. Thursday Night: Clear, with a low around 32. Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 68. I love Thanksgiving, BF, Christmas, etc. I really, really LOVE it, but I HATE WINTER!!
  6. My Walmart's manager told me they are price matching, any store, up to a 50 mile radius. All our "big" stores (BB, Kohl's, etc.) are less than 20 miles away. I still get their prices!
  7. Kids' toys. With one DS and several young neices and nephews (around 15+, ranging from newborn to young teens.tweens - DH has a very large family!) we really need some good buys on toys for both boys and girls. I know DS is getting a Hummer H3 rc car from Walmart. One, possibly two of our neices is getting the Easy Bake oven from Walmart. Need to buy some jeans for me, DH, and DS (WM). Would like to pick up some quick drive sticks, from WM or Staples. Need to study all the ads more on that one. Would LOVE for the rumors of $199 laptop OR desktop deal to come true.....
  8. For those who have a super Walmart: What time do you get there Thanksgiving night/BF morning? What do you do while you wait (gather PMing items, etc.)?

    Riot Causers

That's how Walmart gets me. I love price matching, and in my town, it's Walmart, Staples or KMart. I still need to call Walmart and see how far away a store can be for them to price match it. We have larger, better stores (BB, Kohl's, Sears, etc.) 17.5 miles or less away from the local super center, according to MapQuest. I'd rather go to WM and price match from all stores than stand in line at a few stores to try to get what I want.
  10. My DH knows, only because the majority of gifts are bought for his family (he has 11 brothers/sisters, 10 aunts/uncles, don't get me started on cousins) and we buy for the closest extended members (most aunts/uncles, some cousisn), so I MAKE him go shopping for gifts with me. I pick up gifts here and there during the year. If I see something on sale/clearance that I know so-and-so will absolutely LOVE, I go ahead and pick it up. Otherwise, ALL Christmas shopping is done with DH present and pushing cart #2. Every once in a while, I make him go grocery shopping with me, just so he keeps a decent appreciation for the grocery shopping experience that I go through on a regular basis.
  11. I live in a small town. We mainly have Super Walmart, Big Kmart or whatever it's called, Staples, RadioShack, and a Sears appliance outlet. Those are all about 10 miles from my home. Another 20+ miles beyond that, there are stores like BestBuy, Circuit City, Kohl's Penny's, etc. All the bigger-named stores. I mainly shop at the Kmart and Walmart. I rarely, if ever, shop in the next town over. Too much of a hassle (distance, gas usage, heavy traffic, crowded stores/parking lots..... my list of excuses goes on and on).
  12. I'm disappointed. Walmart usually has a few things I REALLY want to grab, but this year only one or two that I really care about. There's a few I'd like to get, but don't care if I don't.
  13. Well, since the Walmart ad was so pitiful (still holding out hope that the entire ad wasn't leaked, and that there may be more deals to come on BF), I'm waiting on Staples. I haven't finished going through some of the other ads (Sears, KMart, etc.) to do price matching. I REALLY hope the Walmart ad that was posted isn't the complete ad.... I'll be so disappointed. I'm still going, either way, just holding out hope that there's something more to be had on BF.....
  14. Carol of the Bells Anything by Trans-Siberian Orchestra Sleigh Ride Leroy the Redneck Reindeer I Want a Hippopatomus for Christmas and any of the classics or comedy songs...
  15. I love wrapping gifts in box after box, with each box being wrapped itself before sealing it in the next box.... I did that one year. I have to get creative with our gifts under the tree, by putting fake name tags on them until the last minute. Otherwise, people sneak under the tree and do the shake-and-squeeze, trying to figure out what they are. DH is the world's worst about trying to ruin a surprise from me.....
  16. My decorations go up on Black Friday, after I hit all the great sales, of course. They don't come down until January 2. My family has followed that tradition forever, and my mother passed it on to us kids.
  17. I tend to be less choosy over electronics (tvs, dvd players, etc.) and toys. I'm more picky about things like both kitchen and large appliances, etc.
  18. I spend more time on here most days than I should in a whole week. That's ok, with over 100 on our gift list (most of whom will get a small gift, a candle in a jar, etc.) we can use all teh savings I can squeeze out.
  19. Hi y'all! I'm Trish, from North Alabama (Athens area). I lurked a lot last year on GD. It convinced me to go BF shopping at WM, and I'm hooked. I'm married, with a wonderful 8-y.o. step son and a slew of nieces and nephews from DH's family (11+ and counting more every year, now that DH's sisters and brothers are all old enough to marry and have children). Give me a PM if there's anyone out there from nearby that needs a BF buddy, as I have to go it solo. DH hates shopping, and no one I know is crazy enough to brave it with me.
  20. Not only on BF, but year-round. We have well over 100 people on our Christmas list, and most of these we buy small gifts for their birthdays as well (DH is one of 12 kids, and has around 12 nieces/nephews currently). A lot of those people get a cheap present, just to let them know they're thought about and loved (a candle in a jar, a hot wheels BF DB track set from WM, etc.). I buy a lot of clearance items, as long as I KNOW I will give it to someone during the next year. We have a LOT of kids, so any BF deal on toys will be given to someone.
  21. Anyone know of anywhere else you can pick one up for FREE???
  22. This will be my second year.... I braved SWalmart last year ALONE for my first BF experience. Lucky for me, I'm used to our WM being that packed, since it's the only in our county, so EVERYONE goes there.....
  23. I think a permanent marker would work well.... Get one of those gigantic, 1-inch thick markers that smell for miles away.... The Sharpie "magnum" size ones.... everyone could smell the "cutter" and would know hours later that way....
  24. Yeah! Awesome to have the list up.....
