sleepyshopper Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Hi All, I have noticed that the New Baby Alive dolls are starting to fly off the shelves....do you think they are gonna be hard to find near Christmas??? Should I pick one up now while I still can??
flea Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Walmart has them on sale for $49 right now. I went ahead and got one just in case one of my younger ones decides they want it. I would, just hang on to the receipt. :)
elena_398 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 My Walmarts are stocked to the hilt of them. Toys R us has them too in stock. My daughter asked for one, but Im not buying it. She has 10+ dolls she never looks at. Several were in this price range too.
Katwoman Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 I just saw one today at Target for $39. I bought one a couple of weeks ago when Hasbro was having an online sale for 25% off everything with free shipping. I got the doll, extra pack of diapers, extra food and a traveling set all for $55 shipped.
Bestbuy7 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Man i love GD. I just found out what these dolls are after reading this post. This doll is absolutey adorable. My niece will love it.http://i.walmart.com/i/p/00/65/35/69/14/0065356914354_AV1_500X500.jpg
Edgemonster Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 It might be a good thing to pick one up now if you can so you have it and don't have to fight to get one later. If it turns out that it's not wanted you can always return it.
phrogxix Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Man that looks creepy. I'm so out of touch with the kid's toys scene though, I wouldn't be of much help here.
Melissa Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 That is one of the ugliest dolls I've ever seen! LOL
Trish1298 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 My sister used to have a doll when we were kids, it didn't do anything, but looked very real. Before I would go to bed every night I would sit it outside our bedroom door. It scared the crap out of me for it to be in the same room while I was sleeping.
JoannR Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 She is actually much cuter in person. This is the ONLY doll my technolgy savy 4 year old asked for...LOL.. (So I think that should say something, she doesn't usually ask for dolls at all) I didn't find any on the shelves locally but I did buy it when it was on sale at the hasbro website. If you find one you might want to get one early and hold on to the receipt just in case.
ryka Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I need the hispanic one and I can't find her anywhere.
mtjoycol Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I had her as a child. Let's just hope she works better this time around. My mother finally forbidded me to use the eating function as it would get stuck in her and smell to high heavens! Coleen
Vickis3js Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I know you can find one or 2 at most stores around me but never more then that at any given time. I got the blonde one from Hasbro for my one dd and wanted to get either the Hispanic or African American one for my other DD and I can't find them anywhere. I think they are too cute. All my youngest keeps asking for, for Christmas is the pooping baby.
zoemariesmamma Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Man that looks creepy. I am with you she kind of freaks me out too. I don't know...I have heard that they will be popular. I am giving in though and getting my little one the Amazing Amanda. She has asked for it two years in a row now and she doesn't ask for much so I figure I should. She has 3 things on her wishlist:Amanda, Hungary hippos, and a hide and seek care bear. I also plan to get her the FP camera but that will probably be about it besides the stocking. (that is me trying to justify the $100 for a doll)
dmbfan36 Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 i just bought this for my 3 year old niece for her birthday. she's a december baby and i'm afraid i'm not going to find it in the stores soon
vonnyb Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I am soooo glad I am not the only one who thinks that this doll is creepy looking. Although I am sure little girls will love her. I bet they are going to go fast this year.
bayhaysay Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I walked by one of those tonight at walmart and it said something to me. Creeped me out.
flea Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 LOL, I think they are totally creepy but kids love stuff like this. If it can eat and poop they don't care what it looks like.
jerseygirl Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Wasn't that banned years ago (when we were kids! LOL) because it grew worms in the belly? Do we reeeeally need something else in the house that poops?!?!
vonnyb Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Wasn't that banned years ago (when we were kids! LOL) because it grew worms in the belly? Do we reeeeally need something else in the house that poops?!?!You know I remember something like that as well, but also I think parents were letting their kids try the baby food and they were getting sick . So they took the doll off the market. Can you tell I really wanted one of those dolls but could not have one.
Spotted1 Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I've been trying to find out if you can just use the spoon (without food on it) when she says she's hungry, that way she won't poop, or if she'll have a major malfunction if you don't actually feed her. I'm going to have enough diapers to change come May that I don't need a doll in diapers, too. lol ETA That our walmart has these stacked to the gills on an endcap by the bike racks.
tdanette Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 It's hot at my house- my daughter loves gross stuff!
Deal Grabber Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Baby alive is sold out by me.Walmrt, target and toys r us.No where to be found.Yes it will hot and very hard to find.Every year there is a hot baby doll.If u see one buy it.It can always be returned.
BabyFu18 Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I think the baby doll is cute, I was talking to my sister about it and she said she thinks my niece (her daughter) would like it. How much is it retailing for right now?
bayhaysay Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I think the baby doll is cute, I was talking to my sister about it and she said she thinks my niece (her daughter) would like it. How much is it retailing for right now?$49 at walmart yesterday
Kay1996 Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 ok that is one scary doll. My neice got one for her birthday and she loves it though so what do I know?
BFQueenofNY Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 my Baby Alive back in the 70's wasn't that creepy looking. I lost it after it got all moldy and smelly from the food rotting in it. So, the only way I'd buy it, would be if they found a better way to clean it out
love2beurwifey Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I think they are pretty hot this year if you are considering getting one my advice would be to get it and just hold on to the receiptq
