  1. ... and then running inside. Is there anything worse? Line numbering does take some of the fun out of things sometimes, but it sure stops these jerks. There's no real way to stop it, either. You stop and complain, the stuff you wanted is gone by the time you're done wagging your finger.
  2. These seem to have gone the way of the dodo, but does anybody remember the good ol' BFs when it seemed like every store was giving you something just for walking in or included just for making ANY purchase? Now it seems like if there are any freebies or giveaways, and they are scant, are tied to a big ticket item. I understand why, I'm sure plenty of folks just did "free stuff" runs, but what was your favorite giveaway or freebie on BF? Was it tied to a specific purchase, given away for just making any purchase, or just there for showing up?
  3. I usually start eyeballing cold weather gear. Good hat, gloves, coat. Nothing worse than being unprepared. I love the gift card idea, and I think in general the best thing you can do for BF right now is SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE.
  4. Here's hoping. Something with a halfway decent screen at least. I wonder what Asus will be going for?
  5. Still no news, eh? I have a friend who works at the Downers Grove, IL location and the employees haven't been given any inkling of what's to come.
  6. At this point, the only DS units in stores seem to be the blue regular DS and any white, pink or black units you see are likely to be the smaller, thinner DS Lite. These are definetly different items (think iPod and iPod mini) so a pricematch is unlikely.

    keeping warm...

A good, quality balaclava can do wonders. Long underwear, thermal boot socks and good gloves as well are pretty much essential. I'd definetly recommend the higher quality, moisture wicking kind on all fronts. Throw some of those "hot hands" heatpacks in your gloves and boots too. Remember to layer, that way you can strip down once in the store. And remember, when buying thermal, cold weather clothes, you get what you pay for.
  8. Yeah, KMart and ACE both had very little of interest. Best Buy, Fry's, Circuit City, Wal-Mart and Target... bring those on!
  9. No way. You come and freeze with the rest of us, or pay full price.
  10. Scouting the place so you know where everything will be, having buddies and getting there early are the keys. A lot of people make the giant mistake of getting there nice and early and going "Oh crap, I want a big TV... I need a cart!" and stopping to get one. Don't. Bring a buddy to sit with whatever you want once you have them secured, then go get your cart. Multiple buddies means you can all fan out and get items for each other.
  11. Nobody is going to try with my size and stature, but I would put up a reasonable amount of resistance for certain. But actual fist-fighting? C'mon. No way. I've had a few cases of stepping close in on a person or two though that decided my cart was a sales rack and asking them to put it back. Generally they didn't even realize what they had done, and put it back :)
  12. I'm just hoping a good selection of games is on sale. And I wonder if anybody is going to have any Wii accessories, since the system releases at the beginning of that week...
  13. I wish like hell I'd see this in Illinois. Blago seems happy to spend my money on some ridiculous stuff, why not gimme a chance to do it myself for a day?

    Finding a paper

Order delivery now, or plan to hit a 24 hour spot early early that morning. Gas stations are a gem for this.
  15. Staggered openings on the morning? Yeah, that'd be nice. I doubt they'll ever do it though for obvious reasons. But midnight? Please no.
  16. Man that looks creepy. I'm so out of touch with the kid's toys scene though, I wouldn't be of much help here.
  17. Best Buy. I've had nothing but smarmy, unhelpful service at Circuit City. Went in for a BF portable DVD player one year only to be laughed at when I asked for it, told that it was garbage and that I needed to buy the one that was 2.5x as expensive if I didn't want something that was going to break. He literally laughed. I told him off, did the same with his manager, and left. At least Best Buy, the people are too incompetant to bother trying. That is, until it's "Buy 8 issues of this magazine and a product replacement plan and 300 other things" time.
  18. Ugh, I sure hope not. That really would cut into dinner, etc. just so I could beat the people with nothing but time on their hands.
  19. I was just commenting on this in another thread.... They stopped doing it! I remember they used to give out stuffed animals, cookie tins, all sorts of stuff. Now, nobody does it. It stinks. Free cini-minis one year for showing up at Toys R Us early was nice.
  20. As long as I can remember... Back when they used to give outright free stuff at the door. Like tins of cookies, etc. Toys R Us one year handed out free cini-mini coupons for Burger King. Mmmm.
  21. No way, I'm curled up in a ball nursing my lack of sleep and hypothermia.
  22. Doesn't anybody else remember Supermarket Sweep? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supermarket_Sweep I imagine it'd be a lot like that, except with more standing in the cold, not sleeping and pushing.
  23. One guy in my usual group is hoping and praying for a laptop, and with the advent of Vista, it would make sense for them to be dumping some at low prices this year. Didn't Circuit City have a $199 no rebate last year? Other than that, MP3 players seem to be a favorite as well as digital camcorders and cameras since they are definetly coming down in price. Other hot ticket items, as always, are media (DVD boxsets especially) and the like.
