copados1993 Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 My husband and I usually go first thing in the morning when Kmart opens. We go to Big Lots after that. This is our a.m turkeyday tradition. We also usually hear tidbits about what other people are going for on black friday. We went there last year on Thanksgiving and really made out like a bandit! the games were buy 1 get one free. It was great. I am not a Kmart shopper otherwise, but plan to be back again this year!
djmaine Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Only place open in Maine on Thanksgiving Day is LL Bean (they NEVER close)
Kay1996 Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Always....Kamart usually has great stuff that day!! Makes my mom made as a hornet but....hey what can I say... I NEEED TO SHOP!!!!
disneynutangie Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Kmart every year. Best thing ever was the gameboy sp that was hot that year for 49.99. kmart were shipped the wrong gamboys as they were advertised as the old gameboys. so that year my son got a gameboy sp. i orginally i was going to tru to get one for 109.00
BFQueenofNY Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Last year I had less people coming so I got done with the preperations early. I made it to Kmart in the morning to check out their sales. The store's manager is a customer of mine so I knew what was going to be on sale
rahtbarg Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I always hit K-Mart on Thanksgiving. Mainly, it's just to get me warmed up for the big day on BF :)
Illinoismom Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I go for the pillows, and bath sets, and last year they had game boy games really cheap. It's the one place I go before my house starts to move and I enjoy going by my self
Mugglemom Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Me or my sis usually trade off and one of us goes to Kmart. It's usually for the Gameboy games. Except two years ago she got her purse stolen (dummy) and now she refuses to step foot in there agian. What a fiasco! Guess I'm going again this year!
Cecilliadb Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Guess I am gonna have to get my butt over to kmart and check out some of these deals on T-day.
Secret Squirrel Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 It's almost become tradition for us to venture out in the evening to KMart after the festivities are over. There have been some great deals to be had, and I enjoy shopping with little crowds, and good deals, as not many people shop that day at my local store. BL is a little further away, and unless the deals are REALLY good, I haven't been there yet on T-Day. Someone said sacreligious...I don't see it that way. Christmas, Easter, Hannukah...shopping on THOSE days would be sacreligious, but T-Day isn't a religious holiday. (However, you're right in that we would have to thank Someone...so in that regard, ok, I'll give you that one. I'm thankful, but I'm still going shopping )
Secret Squirrel Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Except two years ago she got her purse stolen (dummy)and now she refuses to step foot in there agian. What a fiasco! Guess I'm going again this year!FWIW, here's my "usual & customary:" I don't bring a purse. I bring my Debit Card, a Credit card if I think I might make a major purchase, and my license. I realized a long time ago that I don't NEED any of the stuff in my purse while I'm shopping. I make sure that any "personal" necessities are taken care of right away, so I can shop for hours without...well, you know the rest. Sorry, TMI there. But seriously, I put it all in my back pocket, and my arms are free for shopping bags and I don't worry about my purse getting stolen.
guilliam Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 My husband and I took the kids to a neighboring town one year on tday because meijers had bean bag chairs for $9.99 and my nephew wanted one. Boy was my mom mad when we were late for dinner!! But it was great for us as we found him a camoflauge one (he's into hunting) for a great price!!!
AndreaInNC Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I go for the pillows Yep .. nothing is better than starting off the official holiday shopping season with new pillows! I thought I was the only one who bought pillows on turkey day!edited cause I can't type
elena_398 Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Yup, pillow sales are good too at Kmart. I also go for gameboy advance games and cds.
glitterstarr Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I guess you can say I will be shopping on Turkey Day/Night because I work part time at an Auction and Thanksgiving Night is always their big Christmas Auction. So I will be buying a lot of things there that night! You can always get lots of great deals on everything that night and it's all NEW stuff!
gisellerol Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I have never been but I am going this year:D
trish6103 Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 The only Big Lots around me is a horrible, wretched stinking mess. I went there twice, about 5 days apart, and the same bag of dog food ripped open and scattered all over the floor that I saw the first time was still in the same place the second time. No one bothered to clean it up. Lots of merchandise was broken and not worth buying. It gave me the heebie jeebies and I felt like I needed a shower when I left. That was the last time I set foot in that store.
semperwife Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I think we will probably go this year. We usually fry out turkey so it is later in the day when we get everyone together and eat.. hubby does the turkey cooking so as long as I can get my part done he won't care if I shop in the morning.
firtbird Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Come on Thanksgiving. Between Thanksgiving day and Black Friday should be able to make a large hole in the old budget.
he8765 Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Does anyone know if KMart will have a special thanksgiving day sale this year?
Mitt Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 I go out on Turkey Day, sometimes to shop, sometimes to scout things out for the next day.
johjstc Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 I go out on Turkey Day, sometimes to shop, sometimes to scout things out for the next day. Sounds like me
believet Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 No, I have to work 7 to 12 thanksgiving morning, after that Im going to be with family.
silvercc Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 I live around the corner from a Big Lots and did not know they were open Turkey Day. Thanks for the info, I will certainly go this year.
arrowpolisher Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 There were a few things I wanted to grab at K-Mart this Thanksgiving. Since my hubby works on Thanksgiving we will not be celebrating that day and I will have time to do some shopping.
sylph211 Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 We always go to Garden Ridge AFTER dinner - 8 or 9 pm. ME LOVES GARDEN RIDGE:cookiemon I have never been out on Thanksgiving and this Thanksgiving will be no different. I have to stay glued to my computer to make sure I get all the good deals online. HA HA HA HA. I wanna try and get the :crossfingers that this one wins: good deal of the xbox 360 from amazon. so no going anywhere for me, well until after 2:00.
Cheri0113 Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 I get up and get turkey and stuffing in the oven.....then it's out to the stores. Kmart and Big Lots here.....maybe Shopko if they have anything good.
MICKEY3601 Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 I will if there is a good deal. :) Otherwise I save my energy for BF.
lesliepear Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Two years ago I went to Shoprite to get stuff. Turns out they already had the BF price for the DVD/VCR on sale in the computer. So I got it a day early! (This may only work for supermarket deals like Shoprite & Pathmark.)
BFQueenofNY Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 I had to go last year to replace a coffee carafe that broke. But this year I am going early before I start cookin'
