Megara211 Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 So my toaster broke about a month ago. My kurig and my blender both broke about two weeks ago. My friend accidentally took my crockpot when she moved. And my microwave needs to be replaced as well. It's ironic that all of this is happening right before Black Friday, but at least I'll be able to replace them at a good price.Anyone else having to replace a bunch of things this year?
tracy0504 Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Well, my daughter just moved into her very first apartment last night and she has nothing...perfect timing for all the $9.99 small kitchen appliances they will have on sale BF...I am making a list now and it is definitely different from the usual stuff I buy her every year...she also needs a TV... 1
msyves Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Yes, I use Black Friday to stock up on small appliances. I'm teaching my 12 year old how to cook, so a skillet, deep fryer and grill cheese maker are on my list.
bluebear Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Two years ago in November my daughter moved into a house, so I was in the same boat, buying appliances for her Christmas. This coming fall it looks like both my boys may be moving out for college, so I may be getting them a few things for that. Already got the older boy and daughter Keurig's from a kohl's sale a few weeks ago. Nice when we can get it all for good prices!
wittenlover Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 I actually replaced my vacuum last year. Have replaced other things through the years on BF as well. As others have said, it's great when you can grab stuff (especially replacements) for a decent price.
Bopeep Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 In a slightly different direction, I got up from my desk earlier and noticed the strap on my boot is broke. My first thought was "It's a good thing it's almost Black Friday, I really need some new boots!" 4
Kanyon71 Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 I keep waiting to see a nice dual sided waffle maker. I want to replace our old single sided one.
gina01 Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 I am thinking of replacing our pots and pans. They are old and pretty beat up.
len_mullen Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Surprised there is no Official Appliances topic. BF is a GREAT time to replace a washer and dryer.

MariahA Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 My mom usually buys a coffepot or two at WM and we always get a new box of Rubbermaid containets. It's amazing how those things run away, I got 2 sets last year and they've all disappeared. Need a new coffepot and maybe a crockpot. I usually get a small appliance or two for wedding gifts! Best time to get them. 1

bribri25 Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 I keep waiting to see a nice dual sided waffle maker. I want to replace our old single sided one. Twice the waffles, half the waiting?? Why have I never seen one of these? We are upgrading to glass storage containers as we have a hodgepodge of rubbermaid at this point.I want to get a small toaster rather than using the Toaster Over all the time for 1 slice of toast; it's about 5 minutes vs. 1 minute - but DW is fighting my justification to spend $9.99..... We will often know we need things through the summer/fall and just hold out a few more months to get it on sale on BF because we know they always go on sale all over the place.

It's BRILLIANT. Not to mention it seems to cook them in a more consistent manner. I just got a new toaster a few months ago. Spent like $45 on a good 4 slice Cuisinart one from Amazon. The old one you had to slam the handle down to get it to stay down and it was a white plastic shell (new one is stainless) that let's just say I inadvertently got the griddle too close to during a pancake making session and melted a nice line through the middle of the front unknowingly. Though I did wonder why the pancakes were smelling funny lol.
Peppermint Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 I replace my towels every year with the Black Friday sale and I stock up on any cheap gadgets I may need. 1

With rewards, discounts, rebates, gift cards, and all, Staples is the place to be on BF.
HanShotFirst Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 This is a great idea. This is the first year I don't need any small appliances but I will be adding a few to my list for future gifts. Also CorningWare, Pyrex and bakeware sets for wedding gifts. 1
HanShotFirst Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 I love replacing/upgrading kitchen stuff during BF. I got carried away with that last year so I don't need much this year except a new toaster oven. I'm seriously looking at an air fryer as well. I'm sure I won't stop with those 2 though. LOL 1
AuntieJul Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Knock on wood, hopefully not! But my BF toaster from Target lasted a long time, and my BF coffeemaker was also very good to me (until I received a coffee maker/hot water combo maker as a gift, although it's starting to go on the fritz - helped me warm up lots of baby bottles in the last four years!).
stewarta4 Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Our pots and pans are in rough shape so I'll be replacing those...my laptop is on its last leg so that will be replaced as well.
rockpzazz Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 I'm keeping an eye out for a microwave and probably a coffee maker for my mom. Both have seen better days but are still working, so I'd rather find a good deal and replace them now then wait a month or two and they conk out. 1
Megara211 Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 I hear you rockpzazz! After having three appliances break on me, I'm not waiting to replace the microwave. Also I'm hoping to find a good deal on a large mini fridge, for drinks.
redraccoon Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Towels and sheets are always on our BF interest radar. Nice thing about those is that they are not usually "hot ticket" items - so no waiting in line or fighting people to get to the display!
grouchers Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 I always hit the small appliance sales so I have a spare in the closet when something invariably dies in July. This year I will be on the hunt for a new freezer since I somehow bought half a cow last night.
catholicbride11 Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Black Friday is almost more for stuff for around the house than toys. Towels, sheets, pillows, throws etc are all bought new every year at this time.
flyjar Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 My sister's 1st floor of her house was destroyed duing Hurricane Sandy, she needed all new appliances. I would call that perfect timing, she got great deals on Black Friday.
jesusluvu Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Yes, I replace a lot of stuff, no big appliances but smaller ones that are on sale. I get a griddle every year because I use it so much. Towels, bedding, toaster oven and sometimes a vaccum if there cheap enough -- OH and TV every so many years
diana03 Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I was just going to get a can opener but just saw a great deal on a toaster oven....hhhmmmm. May need to get that also
jaymacfla Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 We have seen the trend of offering a four appliance combo and i can imagine the offer being appealing to many! On the small appliance front, where are offers aplenty, and we tend to only notice them when we actually are faced with replacing them!
Ptagirl Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Looking for a waffle maker and a new microwave. Funny thing is we received 3 waffle makers as wedding gifts and re-gifted them all. Now, years later, when we vacation the kids love making waffles at the breakfast station in the hotel and want their own lol. 1
