momof3luvs1 Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I usually put it up the day after Black Friday, however since it is SO late this year and the kids have vacation week of Thanksgiving I will probably put it up a few days before. I cant wait!!!!
jakesmommy403 Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 My husband will put the outside lights up before Thanksgiving so we can have our official Light Up Night with all the family here on turkey day, but we don't put up the tree and the inside decorations until the day after BF.
carolannec Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 I put my fake tree up Nov 1(I take down the Halloween decor, and put up the tree. Decorate it. And light it). The kids trees go up in their rooms on the Monday the week of Thanksgiving. Then the Sunday after Thanksgiving we go get our live tree. Never had a problem with it drying out and we've always gotten it the Sunday after tday for 10 years now. 1
smtowngrl Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 We do a lot of exterior light and décor so that goes up early Nov. so we can turn on the lights on Thanksgiving evening. This year I plan to put up all the interior decorations the first weekend of Nov. (I'm just so in the mood) but won't put up the tree until the weekend after Thanksgiving.
Jen08 Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 So I just looked at my calendar and saw that if I put our Christmas decor up Thanksgiving weekend then we will only have it up 3 1/2 weeks before Christmas to really enjoy it. I don't keep my decor up very long after Christmas so I've decided that I'm gonna put some of my stuff up the weekend before Thanksgiving. I'll still wait until Thanksgiving weekend to buy our tree but all the other fake trees and decor will go up before then.
mamat2011 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 we usually put the outside decorations up around Halloween because it may snow soon after. Then our inside decorations go up during thanksgiving weekend after black Friday shopping.
jonjam95 Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 As soon as we get home from Black Friday shopping....Its a tradition for me and my wife.
lakiaw Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 It's a BF tradition for me. I put it up that Friday after I'm done shopping to help me get in xmas mode. I keep them up until about the 2nd weekend in January. I do, however, put my lights up the weekend prior to Thanksgiving. I turn those on Thanksgiving Day right after dinner! (sometimes even as early as Thanksgiving Eve) We do the same and we store the tree with the previous year's decoration (Lights, some ornaments etc..) and change out or add items if needed.
Jen198 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 We get a real tree, so anytime between December 4th-8th! Can't wait!! =)
AndreaInNC Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I am rethinking the whole real tree thing this year. DD22 is away at school until 12/13 and DD19 is doing a culinary internship at Disney and won't be home at all. So it's just me this year for the majority of the season. Plus we are headed down to Disney so DD19 isn't alone for Christmas. don't want to leave a real tree unattended for a week. My stepdad has an artificial tree I'm sure he'll let me borrow it. It's just not going to be the same this year
shopping4my3son Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I was originally thinking of putting it up the week before Thanksgiving but we are starting to look for a different house. There's one we are interested in and if we made an offer we'd probably start moving in the middle of December. Not ideal but it is what it is. lol Hopefully I'd get the tree up a couple days before Christmas. lol
Deal Grabber Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 (edited) I usually put my tree up the day before thanksgiving so we are able to watch the parade Thursday morning but seeing as i put up 4 trees in my hose and turkey day is so late this year i might do it weekend before Thankgiving.I know my hubby and kids want it up now.lol. I do remember when my kids were really young i put it up day after Halloween and left it up till Valentines day. That was fun. Edited October 23, 2013 by Deal Grabber
BFQueenofNY Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 normally it is the weekend after Thanksgiving. This year we are going to go and cut down our own tree (if we can get a permit) which should make the whole thing even more fun
stacyk9 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Probably right after Halloween! The tree we've had for the past 10 years finally decided to give out on us last Christmas. Took advantage of the 30% off at Kohl's and ordered a new one which should be here sometime next week. Definitely going to unpack it and make sure it looks as good as I hope and everything works. I don't want to wait to get it out of the box at Thanksgiving only to find out something is wrong with it! I still won't decorate it until Thanksgiving, though.
hockeyfanamo Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I'm wondering if the roommate will think I'm crazy if I put it up the first week on November. It is always an instant pick me up when I see it in the livingroom.
jade2002 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I'm an early bird. We put ours up right after Halloween. Comes down the day after Christmas
cln06 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 We always put ours up the weekend after Thanksgiving. This year dd11 wants it up now. I told her we will go ahead and put it up weekend after Halloween. Doesn't come down until day after New Years!
LCPanther1975 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 We have 5 December Birthdays in my family, so we are hectic during the 12th month. But it has always been a tradition to put it up the weekend of the SEC Championship game, which is the 1st weekend in December. We do a real tree, so don't want to do it too early.
dreamer11 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 we usually do it the first weekend in December but 7th is too late..... I would do it Sun 1st but we are going to Club 33 at Disney as a surprise for my husband... so it will maybe be during the week. The interior decorations will go up around Thanksgiving
leefamily23 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 We always go for the weekend before Thanksgiving no matter the date. I like to have it up for Thanksgiving.
pogiporkchop Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I expect we'll get our tree and put it up as soon as we see live ones for sale. For now I need to figure out how to rearrange the living room so we have room for one.
shopping4my3son Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 On the way to Family Video on Saturday we saw a house with a tree up in the window already. I still haven't found the motivation to put our Halloween stuff away. I don't have a lot to put away, only stuff that's inside, we didn't put anything outside this year.
flyjar Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Saturday after Thanksgiving, that's the tradition, sometimes we start on Black Friday, if we aren't too tired.
burberryplaid Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 We put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving
lcplwinkerswife Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 we get a real tree so as soon as I see them going out we will get one...
floridasun5 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Same with most...the weekend after Thanksgiving....whichever day I can get the SO to go with me as he has the SUV to put the tree in/on. Doing a different theme this year as well so still have to buy the decorations
Danascraps Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 We put up lights in November, whenever we have a nice weather day. But, we don't light them up until Black Friday. My 13 year old DD has been asking to put up the tree for months, so she and my DH will put it up on Black Friday and we will decorate it on that Saturday. Can't wait!
bamamomma Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Thanksgiving weekend. I usually try for BF if I have energy. Otherwise it's up by Saturday. Not sure how it will work this year. We recently moved down south and have a huge group coming in to stay the weekend. Guessing I will play it by ear this year.
