skylog
i know there are many threads which have comments regarding when are you going, what item...etc...but if i am going to a wal mart supercenter that is not closing and has 14 laptops, what time should i be heading out there? i was looking to head out around mid night, but i have no idea how many people will be there only for the laptop. i am in state college, PA. there are two wal marts on seperate ends of town, each being a supercenter. i have not found out how many the other store has. i am hoping that it won't be too crowded so early, being most if not all students are out of town for thanksgiving. any final thoughts before i get in the shower and ready to go? any help would be appreciated. 8truths
I'd be curious to hear the answer to this one two. I'm in the stick not too far from SC, myself. It strikes me that the rural stores would be an easier fight, since they're ought to be fewer people and less money going around. Oddly, my area Walmart (in the interest of avoiding trouble I won't say which one) is supposed to have 20 laptops and an indoor queue.

kc3kustomz
I was just at a super walmart. They will hand out pieces of paper at different tables around the store for the different items. Each table for a different item. They will not hand out any earlier than 5am. Mine said that they had like 17 laptops and around 50 of the 20" tv/dvd combos. Goodluck. 8truths
Ah . . . I dunno . . . 20 laptops and indoors at a Wally World . . . It might entice someone to drive out and compete with me. The most I will do, since I have contacts all over Wally, is let you guys know if our local Wally doesn't run out of the laptops after I leave. I need one very badly for my business, and I just can't risk competition for them. I'm sorry. I know it's cruel and dumb. I wish Wally would go to a raincheck policy on BF. At least for the folks who have to bear this horrid weather tonight in a line. Until then, you guys are my competition threatening about $250 savings from my business (I'll be getting the laptop for $360 even with tax, thanks to a relative of a Wally worker who's bringing the discount card). Sorry. Dog eat dog. Jerk take laptop.
Ebayordeath
I have a few Wal-Mart's in my area, all are supercenters but one, I have called all of them, the supercenters have 30 laptops the non supercenter has 12 but it is the only store in the town. I am going there at 2am with my thermos and camping out. I expect everyone else to drive the 30 miles so they can hit all the stores. My luck is that eveyone will think like me and head down to the small town.

fuzzylogic
When I left work at 11pm, we had 2 people waiting at a line near our vision center for the laptop. We put out 15 chairs; after those are filled up they'll be turning people away.
labgeek
Got there just after 3am here -- too late. At 3:30ish they announce only 23 available, and I was like number 27 or 28 in line.

After being told for the last week there were around 80 laptops by 4 different employees, (1 being my sister the csm who physically counted them)they brought out 14 at 5am! 14! hmmm wonder where all those laptops ran off to. leefamily23
I think it's looking obvious that many store managers let themselves or someone set quite a few hot items aside at stores.
Candy
They may set some aside at some stores..I wondered about that...but I don' tthink they did at the one I was at....because 2 walmart employees were in line with me! Thank GOODNESS!!! It was one of them who noticed people mingling close to the front that were NOT in line who told one of their buddies working to make the tickets..all I can say is I am so glad I was there at 2: 30a.m I was like...the second person I saw in the whole store....BUT no one could tell us where to go for the laptop...so by the time we found out..I ended up 12th in line! Lucky for me our store had between 25-30 so it was all good. As for leaving because there are more people ahead of you...you maybe should have stuck it out.....3 people who waited for hours BROUGHT THERES BACK to the cashier and told them they changed their mind....maybe they read the specs and didnt like..no idea...but that was 3 more available after all tickets were given out.
